The reason for the formation of the sacrifice: it is the reverence for mystical powers, and it is a method of seeking comfort.

But Confucius at that time couldn't believe Lao Tzu's words.

Maybe? At that time, the gap between the two was too great for Confucius to understand. Albeit! Lao Tzu tried his best to interpret it in plain language. Not to mention in Lao Tzu's time, even in modern times, there are still people in history who have been punished for "atheism". Isn't it?

So! Lao Tzu also interpreted "atheism" in a small area. And in public, he did not dare to explain so clearly. If others believe it, he will explain it in detail. If others don't believe it, they don't dare to take it seriously.
