It's just a time and space that doesn't exist, and our story is a story that doesn't exist.
The world was torn apart, chaotic, and conquests between countries continued.
The Central Plains is in turmoil, and it is surrounded by strong enemies. To the west is the unification of the Uighurs, to the north is the mighty Khitan, and to the south is the fierce Dali and Baiyue. These countries are strong in combat, especially the Uighurs and Khitans, all of whom are soldiers, and in the event of a war, they can immediately mobilize hundreds of thousands of people to control the strings, and they will be invincible.
These two countries are considered real military superpowers, but fortunately, the two countries have been at war for several years. The Khitan, who were superior in force, vowed to destroy the Uighurs, and the two powers competed, but gave the Central Plains countries a rare respite.
From south to north, the Central Plains is divided into four countries: Chu, Qi, Jin, and Yan.
The state of Chu occupies all the territory south of the Yangtze River, and is bordered by Kunming, Nanpan River, Hongshui River and Dali to the west. It is bordered by the sea in the east, Yazhou Island in the south, and the Yangtze River in the north. Nandi has been rich since ancient times, and the national grain producing areas are mainly concentrated in Suzhou, Yangzhou and Hangzhou. The three places are rich in rice, which is enough for the food supply of the whole country. The main economic products of the south are silk and porcelain, silkworm weaving and porcelain kilns are everywhere. There is a poem: "The rice and sorghum are fat under the Goose Lake Mountain, and the chickens are half-covered." The Sang Zheying Slanting Spring Society is scattered, and the family is intoxicated. It is the scene of the Chu people living and working in peace and contentment and living a prosperous life.
Da Chu is rich, rich in Suzhou and Hangzhou. The waterways in Suzhou and Hangzhou are dense, and there are large waterways such as canals and the Yangtze River, so the traffic is extremely convenient. As a result, the grain, silk, porcelain, tea and other outputs produced by the entire Great Chu could be transported to the world by water. For Da Chu, this place is tantamount to half of the country. Therefore, the Great Chu Mi clan built the capital in Jinling, Jiangning.
Since ancient times, there has been a famous sentence of "Zhongfu Longpan, Shicheng Tiger Distance" to describe Jinling. Zhongfu, that is, Zhongshan, also known as Purple Mountain, is in the east of Jinling, and the hills stretch out, like a giant dragon in ambush. Stone City, also known as Stone City, sits like a tiger, coupled with the danger of the Yangtze River, the terrain is dangerous.
But it is precisely such a dangerous terrain, coupled with a rich life, and a prosperous literary style, that have created the gentle and elegant character of the Chu people. The state of Chu emphasized literature over military force, and the status of military generals in Chu was quite low, and almost all of the hundreds of court officials were literati. In this context, the literary style of the Chu State was also the most prosperous, and the streets were full of young literati holding folding fans, hanging incense sachets, calling friends, drinking and drinking, and listening to prostitutes. The result of this is that in the face of several invasions by the Northern Qi State, the Chu State, which is more powerful in terms of comprehensive strength, can only rely on natural hazards to barely support it.
The rich and stable Great Chu, a hundred years after the founding of the People's Republic of China, has a population of tens of millions, and the most powerful national strength. In terms of comprehensive national strength, it is a well-deserved number one superpower. The military water division is strong, and the rivers, lakes and offshore water divisions complement each other, creating a strong water Great Wall in Dachu. Most of the troops on land were mainly foot soldiers, and the crisscrossing rivers made it almost unnecessary for Dachu to form cavalry. It is worth mentioning that the abundant national strength makes Great Chu's armament also the best, and ordinary soldiers can do everyone wear armor, which is enough for the other three kingdoms to sigh. Strong crossbows, strong bows, and all kinds of sophisticated equipment for defending the city are countless. The contemporary Great Chu Emperor Mi Jian is only the master of the mean, but relying on the accumulation of the Chu Emperors of the past dynasties and the perfect armament, it is enough for him to be enterprising and more than enough to live a luxurious life.
To the north of Great Chu and south of the Yellow River is the Great Qi established by the Tian clan. Luoyang, the capital of Great Qiding, borders the Uighurs to the west and the sea to the east. Occupying the hinterland of the Central Plains, Daqi has always regarded itself as the orthodoxy of the royal family, and the successive generations of Daqi kings have taken the unification of the world as their ultimate goal.
The territory of Daqi is only half of that of Dachu, but because most of the territory in the territory such as Xuzhou, Songzhou, and Henan are all plains, Daqi is also an important grain-producing area in the world. The production of wheat, soybeans and other products occupies half of the country. The rich land gave the rulers of the Great Qi Dynasty a rich treasury and inflated the ambitions of each generation of kings. The Great Qi Dynasty has been fighting hard and has maintained a standing army of 500,000 for many years, and has never stopped the pace of unifying the world.
Tian Zhi, the contemporary lord of the Great Qi State, is even more ambitious, he obtained the throne by killing his brother and killing his father, and it is not so glorious. As if to prove that he was better than his father and brother, he worked hard and vowed to unify the world during his lifetime. Taking advantage of the changes in the domestic political situation of Dayan, the change of dynasties, and the large-scale war against Dayan was launched as soon as he ascended the throne, which lasted ten years, and won several places in Qingzhou and Bianzhou from Dayan.
The annual military expenditure of nearly 10 million yuan has forced Daqi to implement a strict tax system, with six out of ten agricultural taxes and five out of ten commercial taxes. Daqi also used a high poll tax, and men had to pay a tax of one tael of silver a year when they were thirteen years old, and they had to serve almost three months of forced labor. During the period of conscription, they provided their own food and did not receive any subsidies. In the unfortunate event of death, there is no compensation. The whole country, both peasants and merchants, was miserable.
The Great Qi adopted the former Qin system of farming and warfare, and military merit was almost the only means for ordinary people to obtain land, avoid harsh taxes, and conscription. The common people cannot, and most able-bodied men will choose to join the army and earn a good military salary to support their families. Under this system, although the comprehensive national strength of Great Qi is far inferior to that of Southern Chu, in terms of military strength, Great Qi is definitely the strongest among the Central Plains countries.
However, in the ten-year war against Yan, although Daqi won a lot, it could not be moved, the state could not provide funds for even a big war, and the soldiers were very war-weary, so they had to stop the pace of expansion.
Further north, Great Qi was divided into two countries, Great Jin and Great Yan. These two countries are located in the north, with small territories, small populations, and weak national strength. Especially the Yan State, after the internal friction of the country, coupled with the robbery of the Qi State, and the loss of several states, the national strength is even weaker. The combined strength of the two countries is probably not as good as that of Daqi or the rich states of Southern Chu.
The Great Jin Dynasty occupies today's Shanxi, Shaanxi and other salt-producing and iron-producing areas, and its capital is Xi'an, Jingzhao Prefecture. Although the country is small, but because of the dangerous terrain, and rich in minerals, the people's life is also stable and rich, plus the people are fierce, there is no shortage of salt and iron, and the armament is much stronger than Dayan, and the 150,000 elite standing army makes the Dajin Wang clan stand for a hundred years without falling.
The Khitans and Uighurs did not want to cross the Yellow River all the time, annex the Jin State, obtain the salt and iron they coveted, and make up for the last shortcoming of the Central Plains, so the Great Jin Frontier was fighting every year, so that the Jin State had no time to look eastward.
To the east of the Great Jin Dynasty is the Great Yan, and the main land is the Yellow River to the north to the sixteen states of Yanyun. The land is barren and minerals are not abundant, and the people live in the poorest of the four countries. The ten-year battle of Qi and Yan was even worse, and the Yan State, which had just been established for fifteen years, retreated again and again, and it was able to block the Qi people's troops with the Yellow River. Yan has been at war all year round, the folk customs are extremely fierce, and the national concept has not been very strong. Even the current Dayan was founded by the rebellion of the Cao family, the first family built fifteen years ago, so Dayan is also the most despised by the other three kingdoms.
The big Yan is chaotic, and the Yanyun is the most; Yanyun is chaotic, and Yunzhou is even worse. There is the invasion of the Great Jin Dynasty in the west, the Khitan Koubian in the north, the border states of Yun, Shuo, and Wu in the sixteen states of Yanyun are in endless war every year, the rebellious army and bandits are rampant, the people do not know education, the scholars do not know benevolence and disgrace, and the generals do not know loyalty, and the influence of the Great Yan court is almost impossible in these places. In addition, the Great Yan Imperial Court has never been waiting to see the original border army of Dajian, and it has been reduced and dismantled, divided and co-opted, causing chaos among the four major border armies, and the sixteen states of Yanyun have become even more erosive, and the foreign Hu people have always been giving what they want. In particular, Yunzhou happened to border with the Khitan and the Great Jin Dynasty at the same time, which was even more dilapidated, and it should be the most chaotic place in the world.
And our story happened to happen here.
