The last inspection group was mainly a state visit, and naturally there were higher-level leaders to accompany it, but this time China came to inspect for only one purpose, that is, to inspect the Su-27 fighter jet, so as long as Simonov came to accompany him, he is also a legendary figure, Su-27, from his subordinates!

This is an old man with gray hair, a little chubby, with a smile on his face, greeting the arrival of a group of people from China, and at the same time, this is also the first foreign customer of the Su-27 fighter.

Simonov, the head of the Sukhoi Design Bureau, is a resolute and slightly stubborn person, and it is this character of his that has contributed to the prestige of the Su-27.

As early as May 20, 1977, under the piloting of the chief test pilot of the Sukhoi Design Bureau and the Hero of the Soviet Union Valamir Ilyushin, the prototype T-10-1 designed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau specifically to benchmark the F-15 fighter made its first flight.

This fighter without any fire control system was installed, and in the second year, another prototype crashed during the test flight, which was also the first Su-27 fighter test flight crash, just a beginning, the reason for the research at that time was the defect of the flight control, if you want to operate this aircraft, you must have fly-by-wire control.

The crash did not hit their confidence, they already had 4 prototypes to participate in the test flight program at this time, and the first batch of pre-production models was about to be put into production, according to the plan was very smooth, and by the eighties there would be a large number of Su-27 flying in the sky, but later, an air battle broke out, Syria 6 MiG-23 and 2 Israeli F-15A had an air battle, MiG aircraft were defeated, at this time they found that the air combat performance of the F-15 far exceeded the original estimated level.

At the same time, the Polish spy Marian Zochaski got the F-15 performance data, which also confirmed the backwardness of the T-10's performance, at this time, they could pretend not to know and put this aircraft into active service, but at this time Simonov showed extraordinary courage, he said: "If there is no war, no one knows its mediocrity, but our weapons should be of the highest level".

This is the consciousness that a designer should have, and have the courage to climb the highest peak!

Simonov withstood the pressure from the factory, the internal and external parts of the research institute, and the government leadership, in order to pursue the most perfect aircraft, he decided to overturn the entire aircraft and rebuild, and carried out a new design in the aerodynamic layout of the aircraft, and made great changes in the wing, such as increasing the wing area, reducing the sweep angle, removing the wing knife, changing the curved wing tip to a square shape and adding a missile launch rail, changing the trailing edge flap and aileron to a single flaperon and adding a computer-controlled leading edge flap, etc., and other aspects. For example, the air intake, engine compartment, double vertical tail, etc., have been improved, and these improvements mean that the previous work has been done almost in vain, and they have returned to the starting point and started development again.

Due to the large changes, the plant also had to restart production, which seriously delayed the schedule, for example, until the beginning of 1982, when preparations for the mass assembly of the structurally strengthened Su-27 were completed in Komsomolsk. And the MiG-29 began to be delivered to the troops in 1983. The progress of the Su-27 is so slow that it is even facing a possible miscarriage.

Simonov withstood the pressure, for him, the development of the most advanced fighter is his dream, if the advantages of the entire aviation industry are concentrated, the created fighter cannot compete with the F-15, then what is the use? There is also the support of some fanatical high-ranking officials in the army, and finally, the Su-27 was finalized in 1985, and the data in all aspects are overwhelming the F-15, and in order to test fly it, several prototypes have crashed successively! If it weren't for strong perseverance, it would have been miscarried.

Effort pays off, pressure turns into merit, especially at the Paris Air Show, where this kind of aircraft became a blockbuster, won great prestige for the Soviets, and also welcomed the Chinese delegation.

Simonov's heart was proud, and he showed a sincere smile to the guests arriving in China: "Friends, welcome to Komsomolsk, our Su-27 fighter will become the most powerful fist of your Air Force, now, let's go to the production line to have a look." ”

This was the meaning of the existence of Far Eastern industry, which had been tested during the war years and which now became the main Soviet base for exports.

The architecture of the factory is a little mottled, and the products of the Soviet Union have always given people the feeling of being five big and three coarse, and the Soviet factories are also like this, of course, for domestic guests, the factories here have a familiar feeling, because they are almost the same as the domestic factories.

The trees in the factory are lush and green, just like the woods on the hill in the distance, and the factory in the shade of the trees is full of all kinds of noisy sounds, the sharp noise of metal saws, the sizzle of high decibels drilled by hand drills, and the friction of various metals, forming a hot production scene.

"This is the final assembly plant, as you can see, our production capacity is very high, once needed, the monthly output can be dozens of aircraft, which can fully meet the needs of large-scale military wars." Walking into the factory, looking at the endless factory building, along both sides of the corridor are two rows of fighter assembly stations, I can't help but sigh, it's too big.

Simonov was proud of everything here, and when he walked in, the Chinese guests who passed through found that their eyes were no longer enough to see, and this scene was so spectacular.

The Su-27 is tall, one station, almost the size of two stations of its own J-7 fighter, on the erected shelf, the workers are assembling the aircraft, probably against the production line, so the assembly here is already very complete.
