Chapter 45: Comprehension
The red button that foretold the danger was pressed hard by Chiba, and in an instant, a thunderous sound was like a volcanic eruption, and a huge explosion caused thousands of fires, and the entire mountain peak trembled in the explosion, and the surging air wave swept half of the hillside, and even the place where we were hiding rolled up a blazing wind, and in an instant, the sand flew away, the heat wave churned, the smoke rolled, and the fire soared into the sky.
I lay behind the rocks with my head on the ground, my hands gripping my helmet, and even then I could feel the heat rushing by, and if it weren't for the rocks in front of me, Chiba and I might have been swept up into the sky like leaves.
I didn't expect that the two M18A1 anti-infantry mines would be so powerful, they were almost catching up with the 125mm howitzer, and countless stones, branches, weeds fell from the sky and scattered around.
I lay on the ground with my head in my hands, trying to get up and see what was going on, but I didn't know what fell from the sky and hit my helmet.
"What the hell!" I swore a curse and touched my helmet, picking it up and taking a look.
At this glance, I suddenly felt that my scalp was numb, and I instantly had a layer of goosebumps, it was a human hand that was blown off, the skin and flesh were torn, charred, and there was light smoke in the black.
"I'm grassβ" I threw my hand out with a stir, right into Chiba's arms.
He didn't react, picked it up and looked at it, threw it aside, pouted and muttered, "It's really bad!" β
I was speechless, this guy is indeed much stronger than me in terms of cold-bloodedness, and there are very few emotional fluctuations in his eyes, just like a machine, a killing machine.
As the aftermath of the explosion faded, I looked up and looked at the top of the hill with my scope, it was bare, the entire summit was scorched, and the seven enemy soldiers who had been standing there were blown to pieces, and none of them had a complete body.
I looked at the hillsides on the left and right again, and searched for a long time but didn't find a single figure, although they were far away from the explosion point, they were also within the explosion range, even if they couldn't kill the shock wave and air wave, they would be enough to drink a pot.
"Is there anything alive?" Chiba pulled down the night vision device and poked out.
"I don't know, as far as the eye can see, there is no figure!" I shook my head.
"Withdraw, the explosion will attract more enemies!" Chiba patted the dirt off her body and stood up from the ground.
"It's a pity, if you kill them all, you will get the first place in the assessment." I said it unwillingly.
"Don't be too greedy, or you'll let us die with you!" Chiba said lightly, got up and prepared to evacuate.
Just as I turned around, out of the corner of my eye, I suddenly saw a figure standing halfway up the mountain on the right, and because the explosion ignited the wild grass, there was still a fire on the top of the mountain, and the figure was clearly visible.
Just as I saw him, the guy saw us too, and he had already raised his gun.
Out of an instinctive reaction to danger, I didn't even think about it, and I raised my leg to kick Chiba's ass as the gun went off.
The bullet flew over my calf, my pants were cut, and there was a burning pain in my skin, which I knew wasn't a shot, but a burn from the heat of the bullet.
Without any pause, I quickly reflexive, pulled the gun and loaded it, and shook my hand to shoot it, this shot I didn't think about anything, my brain was completely empty, there was no distraction in my heart, everything was a subconscious action produced after training thousands of times.
The bullet hit the enemy's face like an eye, the bullet shot out of the back of the head, and the guy was knocked in the head, flipped upside down, and fell to the ground.
Seeing the enemy fall, but I didn't move, the feeling of this moment is so amazing, it is completely different from the training, as if the gun is a part of my body, where I see and think, the bullet will hit wherever I want, the hand moves with my heart, the gun moves with my hand, without the slightest delay and pause, as if the clouds are flowing and natural.
This should be the true meaning of a top sniper, I used to hear the instructor say that the gun is alive, and you have to establish a relationship with your own weapon before it can listen to you, at that time I only listened to it as a joke, how can a cold killing weapon have feelings.
Today I seem to understand the meaning of this sentence, just at that moment, I understood the true meaning of a sniper, that is the wonderful feeling of being one with the gun, but unfortunately this instant understanding cannot last long.
When I came to my senses, I raised my gun again and aimed at other positions, but unfortunately the gun was still a gun, and my head was full of all kinds of data from training, although it was very accurate, but it just didn't have the feeling of being free to do as I just now.
"Alas-" I shook my head with a wry smile, a momentary talent still needs hard practice to master, "go home and continue to practice!" "I said to myself and turned to chase Chiba, the guy didn't know where I kicked him, I remember that he rolled down the hill at the time.
Walking down the hillside, I finally found Chiba in a dark ditch at the foot of the mountain, standing on the edge of the ditch I looked back at the road I came from, this distance is sixty or seventy meters, I didn't think I kicked him so far.
"What the hell are you looking at, pull Lao Tzu up." It's the first time I've seen Chiba's expression fluctuate so violently, and I'm glaring my eyes and gritting my teeth, wanting to bite me to death.
"Can't you come up on your own? I feel like I'm going to be in danger of my life by pulling you up! I shrugged, an expression that I had the ability to come up on your own.
"Bastard, I can't spare you!" Chiba glared at me fiercely.
"Then I can't pull you up, I haven't lived enough!" I winked at him and got up to leave.
"Hey, team leader, boss, you won, your whole family won, pull me up, my leg seems to be broken!" Chiba struggled to sit up, grinning in pain when she moved slightly.
"Is it that serious? I didn't use much force! I looked inclaused, but jumped down the ditch and carried him out of it.
Putting Chiba on the flat ground, I gently touched the bone of my left leg, and when I touched him with my hand, he broke out in a cold sweat, but I still gritted my teeth and didn't make a sound.
I pulled out my saber and picked open his pants, the skin on my left calf was high and swollen, and it was bruised, it seemed that it should have been caused by a violent impact, probably from the edge of the stone when I rolled down the mountain, and the bone showed no signs of breaking, but there should be cracks, otherwise it wouldn't hurt so badly.
"Good news for you, you can't go, it's only a month before you want to find me." I pulled out a morphine from my rucksack and injected it into it, and although it didn't help, it at least relieved the pain temporarily.
"I don't think this news is that good!" Chiba rolled her eyes.
"At least you're alive, is there better news than this?" I shrugged my shoulders and smiled a slumped smile.
"What about the bastard who shot me!" Chiba asked me.
"Report to God, no one can live at my gunpoint, especially anyone who tries to kill me or my brother." I carried Chiba's rucksack around my neck and bent down to carry him.
"Hey!" He called me, then paused, and said, "Thank you, if I have the chance, I will return it to you on the battlefield." β
"Hopefully you'll never get that chance." I smiled and carried him into the jungle.
