Chapter 457: Advanced Seeker
After entering the Selenia company, the first thing everyone visited was the production line, and on the missile production line, the ship-borne Aspide air-to-air missile was being produced.
This is also the first time Qin Feng has seen the structure of a medium-range air-to-air missile, in the past, Qin Feng could only see some simple missile structure drawings in magazines, but now, when this kind of physical object is displayed in front of him, it still brings Qin Feng a great shock.
The structure of all missiles is much the same, the front is the seeker, which is divided into infrared and radar, behind the seeker is the warhead, behind the warhead is the rocket engine, each rudder surface, and so on.
For everyone, the most attractive thing is, of course, the warhead.
The warhead is more than 30 centimeters long, and it is laid out in a cylindrical shape, after all, it is to be stuffed into the missile body, and the circuit equipment behind it can also be seen clearly, with dark green circuit boards, black integrated blocks, and neat wiring harnesses.
What makes Qin Feng sigh the most is the radar antenna in front of the seeker, this antenna is similar to the antenna of a fighter jet, it is also an inverted Cassegrain antenna, but it is reduced by one number, it looks extraordinarily exquisite, and now in China, it is this seeker that has not been able to break through for a long time!
"What you see is the seeker of the semi-active radar of the Aspide MK1 ship-to-air missile, but now, if you need an air-to-air missile, the seeker has some differences with it, after all, we know that the biggest difference between the two is the radar clutter problem of downward firing."
Both ship-to-air missiles and surface-to-air missiles are launched towards the sky, which is quite empty and does not have any additional reflected echoes.
So, the guidance of these missiles is a little simpler.
But air-to-air missiles are different, if they are launched in parallel or upwards, there may be no problem, but if they are launched downward, they will be affected by clutter on the ground, and if this problem is not solved, it will not be a qualified missile.
This is also a problem facing the whole world.
In the past, the Sparrow missile did not have the ability to fire downward, and the Sparrow missile could only attack targets higher than itself, and if the radar of the carrier aircraft was downward, the missile would lose the target.
Even if the radar is a pulse-Doppler radar, this will not work, because it has nothing to do with the radar's processing system, and completely relies on the operation of the missile's own missile processor.
In this case, the missile itself does not emit radar waves, and the radar of the carrier aircraft irradiates the target, reflects it back, and enters the missile's seeker, and the missile adjusts its flight direction according to this echo model until it hits the target.
It's very simple to say, but it's complicated to implement, and it's been a long time in China, but there has been no breakthrough.
This seeker has not been able to be conquered in China, in fact, not only in the front, but also in the tail of the missile, there are also antennas.
The head antenna receives the radar echo signal reflected after the carrier radar irradiates the target; The tail antenna receives signals from the carrier radar that arrives directly.
These signals enter the missile's control system, and after processing, they form a control signal to control the missile to fly to the target.
Therefore, even if the carrier aircraft has the ability of pulse Doppler and can filter ground clutter, it will not be able to reach it, and all the echoes received by the missile are clutter, so it will not be able to hit the target.
The previous Sparrow missile did not have this capability, and this was not until the AIM-7M missile entered service in 1982, which was equipped with a new reverse single-pulse seeker, radio proximity fuse, and digital control circuit, which greatly improved the missile's low-altitude combat performance.
However, this kind of missile, which is the latest system of the United States, will not be exported to NATO at all, and Italy can only use its own technology to develop it, and the model of its Asped air-to-air missile was developed by itself under such circumstances.
The seeker is the most complicated, for example, now, this seeker is very special, Qin Feng stared at it, hoping to see the models of those integrated circuits, relying on his pilot's eyesight, he could really see clearly, but the words on it were all Italian words, and he couldn't understand them.
In the past, the seeker of the missile was also a small pot lid, and then it became this kind of inverted card, and then later, it would also become a flat panel antenna, and the missiles of the Soviets were more distinctive, and their seeker antenna was a few rotating wires, which looked like a bubble of cow dung.
Although it doesn't look good, it is not bad to use, after all, the most powerful thing for the Soviets is the ability to integrate.
Almost everyone was staring at the missiles here, and after a long time, General Lin said: "This missile of yours has not yet been developed, if the research and development is completed, can we buy it?" ”
Where to buy medium-range air-to-air missiles? This is a difficult problem, from the United States, it will definitely not work, even if they are willing to sell, it is also the kind of early model, it does not have the ability to shoot downward, the missiles of the French are too expensive, it is simply sky-high, and the missiles of the Italians here, it seems that the performance is also good.
Moreover, in recent years, the cooperation with the Italian military industry is still relatively reassuring, they do not have so many fancy intestines, and they are quite sincere.
If you think about yesterday's hospitality, you can know that the other party is also a real person.
"Absolutely." "We would love to see our Aspide missiles in service with your air force, but it's not enough to have missiles, you have to have a matching radar, it needs a continuous wave radar signal to guide," he said. ”
Is it okay to only introduce missiles? Without a supporting radar, it still can't work, and an ordinary radar can't do it, and it must have a continuous wave function.
The current F-16 does not have a continuous wave illuminator, so it cannot launch Sparrow missiles, and the MiG-23/27 series fighters of the Soviets even provide continuous wave radar guidance signals by attaching a dedicated continuous wave guidance pod.
Without this guidance, there is no way to talk about it, and China is indeed a shortcoming in terms of airborne radar.
"We can also provide technical support if you need it." The other party continued.
After all, the Arsenia company also makes radar systems, but their famous products are all shipborne radars, and they are not excellent in airborne radars, although they are not very good, but the principles are the same.
"In terms of airborne radar, we are working on it." General Lin said.
For them, the introduction is too much, there is no money, in fact, even if it is this kind of missile, they only want to introduce the most critical seeker.
