Chapter Seventy-Eight: Interesting Facts about Ancient Poetry

All the way to the willow river, the sun was already red on his back.

Shoko asked for the way to the Thousand Buddha Caves, and someone pointed out a shortcut.

Facing south from the mouth of Liushuhezi Village, there is a small road that leads directly to the Thousand Buddha Cave.

Shoko hurried down the path.

After a while, you can clearly see the eaves of the ancient temple under the shade of the trees on the mountainside.

At the foot of the mountain, the temple was sheltered by a thick field of willow and elm trees.

Only a winding gravel road remained, like a blue-gray streamer.

Xiangzi, who only cared about admiring the shade of the trees, looked down coldly, and saw a thin and short old monk, standing in the middle of the road like a stone sculpture.

Only a few steps away from the horse's head.

Xiangzi hurriedly jumped off the horse, saluted the monk with his palms, and asked carefully, "May I ask Master, is Master Guanghui here?" ”

The monk's face was expressionless, but he said in a loud voice: "Amitabha, the old man is Guanghui, and he has been waiting for you here for three days. ”

Xiangzi hurriedly knelt down and saluted, and said in a panic: "I'm sorry Master, I was delayed in Santai, which made you suffer." ”

Master Guanghui smiled disapprovingly and said, "The world is unpredictable, and it is impossible for people to change in a moment. ”

Xiangzi hurriedly took out the letter from his bag, respectfully handed it to Master Guanghui with both hands, and said, "This is the letter that Master Guangzhi asked me to hand over to you. ”

Master Guanghui opened the letter unhurriedly, and there was not a word written on the paper at all.

I saw Master Guanghui, in a matter-of-fact manner, took a picture of the letter paper against the reddish sunset, smiled weirdly, and folded the letter carefully and put it in his arms.

Seeing Xiangzi looking at him with suspicious eyes, Master Guanghui smiled slightly and said, "Senior Brother Guangzhi said in the letter that you can stay in this temple with peace of mind for the time being.

It just so happens that the monastery is short of manpower, and it seems that you will have to stay for a few days. ”

Xiangzi Muran nodded yes.

In his opinion, this Master Guanghui and Master Guangzhi share the same sense of mystery.

Therefore, for the arrangement of the two masters, he can only be honest and obedient, believing that there must be a mystery in it.

As he was talking, he saw a young monk walking in the shade of the tree.

Master Guanghui turned around and said to him, "Take this donor to rest first, and come back to see me tomorrow morning." ”

As he spoke, he disappeared into the shade of the trees.

The young monk asked Xiangzi and said, "My name is Huiming, and I am the steward of the temple.

If you need anything in the future, you can come to me. ”

Saying that, Chong Xiangzi smiled faintly and said, "Please come with me." ”

Huiming took Xiangzi to the mountain gate, but did not enter the mountain gate.

Instead, they went around the wall and in a south-west direction.

Over a gentle slope, I crossed a creek that seemed to be nothing.

Come to a small courtyard surrounded by a fence.

There are two adobe houses in the courtyard, as well as a feeding manger. It's like a place to live at home.

Xiangzi followed Huiming into the house, and there were all the furniture and utensils in the house, so much so that it was as if he had walked into an ordinary person's home.

Seeing Xiangzi's puzzled and uneasy look, Huiming smiled at him and said, "The owner of this house moved into the city a year ago.

The house was given to the temple and was usually empty.

A few days ago, Master taught me to pick it up, and the household belongings in it were given by a few lay people. ”

Xiangzi nodded blankly, as if she suddenly remembered something, and asked, "Master Guanghui, do you know that I am coming?" ”

Hui Ming pursed his lips mysteriously and smiled, forked his words, and said, "The temple usually holds two meals, ten o'clock in the morning and six o'clock in the afternoon.

You can also cook your own meals, and everything is fully equipped here.

Rice and flour oil can be received at the temple's dining hall.

Just put the horse in the fence of the valley, rest assured, it can't get out. ”

Xiangzi came back to his senses and hurriedly bowed to Huiming to thank him.

Huiming returned the favor and said, "If there is nothing else, I will go first."

If you have something, come to the temple to find me. ”

Shoko sent Huiming away, and suddenly had a strange feeling of unease.

It seems that everything about himself is not influenced by fate, but seems to be deliberately arranged by the two masters.

Xiangzi knows the rules of the temple, and there is no food after the meal.

Therefore he was not in a hurry to enter the monastery, but first took off the coat and saddle of his horse, and led the horse to the valley.

Open the fence gate at the bottom of the valley, and look into the distance, a horse is leisurely eating grass at the quiet valley bottom.

Shoko took off the bridle, and the horse ran happily towards the greenery.

Shoko took a closer look at the valley full of moisture and the smell of grass.

It is said to be a valley, that is, a valley left by the bifurcation of the mountain beams.

The west side of the ditch is a steep slope, so I don't go right away.

Although the slope on the east side is gentle, there is a courtyard wall on the slope that blocks the way, and the horses cannot pass.

At the southern end of the ditch is the stump.

A wisp of clear and crystalline spring water, a section sticking out of the bottom of the courtyard wall, a half-open bamboo pipe, dripping like a pearl to the bottom of the valley.

It also moistens the green fields of the valley.

On both sides of the valley, there are a few old elm trees that are not mature, and their curved bodies look old and full of vitality.

Xiangzi boiled the kettle of water, then took out a few baked cakes and two braised chicken thighs from his bag.

I ate it with boiling water for a while, and it got dark.

Maybe in the past few days, I just wanted to be happy, and I didn't get a good night's sleep.

Lying on the kang and thinking for a while, he fell asleep.

Early in the morning, Xiangzi went to see the abbot Guanghui.

Seeing that the morning class was not over, he went to class with the crowd.

Master Guanghui waved at him from afar.

Xiangzi followed Master Guanghui to the abbot's room.

Xiangzi officially bowed to Master Guanghui, only to see Master Guanghui half-squinting and saying, "First go around the temple to familiarize yourself with the terrain."

See where you need a hand, just take a hand.

If you need anything, just look for Huiming. ”

Shoko walked out of the abbot's room and walked around to the back of the main hall.

Follow a narrow stone path and climb over a gentle earth beam.

Suddenly, a flat field with dense weeds appeared in front of me.

At the end of the flat land, a winding mountain beam blocked the way.

The mountain beams covered with green and attached to the flat ground have a hole made of blue bricks.

At the upper end of the cave entrance, there are three eye-catching big characters squarely - Thousand Buddha Cave.

Curious and puzzled, Shoko strolled into the cave.

Suddenly, I was shocked by the scene in the cave.

On the arched round wall in the cave, there is a magnificent fairyland of the Buddha country, and the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in various postures are lifelike.

Moreover, the colors are rich and vivid as new.

What surprised him even more was that there was no light source in the cave, but it was still bright.

With a sigh, he walked forward, and at a curved bend, the cave seemed more spacious.

On the right side of the cave wall, on a long lotus seat carved from bluestone, there is a reclining Buddha statue lying on the side.

The beautiful shapes and realistic colors show compassion* and are stunningly beautiful.

Shoko hurriedly knelt down on the futon and saluted respectfully.

When he was about to get up, he faintly heard the sound of dripping water from nearby.

He looked for prestige in amazement, and it turned out that a wisp of clear water overflowed from the navel of the sleeping Buddha.

When it reached the crotch, it turned into a string of intermittent water droplets, dripping on the sink of the lotus platform, and I didn't know where to go.

Xiangzi lingered in front of the sleeping Buddha and sighed.

When I got out of the hole, I realized that the hole was a semi-circular ring.

The two mouths face each other, and the light enters through the hole*.

So, the cave was bright.

As for the navel of the sleeping Buddha, the story of Wang Qingshui, Xiangzi only heard Huiming tell it later.

Among them, there are two legends: it is said that a long time ago, Fuyuan City was called Buddha City.

There is a large dense forest in the south of the city.

One day, a woodman went up the mountain to chop wood, and his eyes were swollen and painful.

Just when he was helpless, he faintly heard a voice: "The spring water under the mountain is good for eye washing." ”

Chai Fu looked around blankly, and there was no one to see.

"Spring water is good for eye washing."

This time, he listened to it very well.

The eye pain is terrible, so I don't think much about it, and I should give it a try.

So, he simply climbed down the mountain.

I didn't climb far before I heard the sound of running water.

Chai Fu groped to the edge of the spring and was about to take water to wash his eyes.

In the distance, another voice came: "Three times to relieve pain, three times to reduce swelling, and three times to clear the eyes." ”

Chai Fu followed the instructions and washed three times. The eyes really didn't hurt anymore, and the swelling disappeared again, and Chai Fu was overjoyed.

I thought to myself, I met the gods today.

Repeatedly scooping the water, a flash, the eyes are clear.

He hurriedly knelt down and bowed to the sky.

When his eyes were healed, he walked down the spring.

I stumbled upon halfway up the mountainside, and there was a half-exposed powder wall in the stone crevice on the slope.

Feeling strange, he went to dig open the loose soil with his hands, but found a half-hidden hole.

Chai Fu went back and told the people about the discovery of the cave entrance. The men took their tools and ran up the hill.

Digging through the earth, a semicircular hole appeared, and the hole was dark and deep.

People carried torches into the cave, but they were all stunned by what they saw.

In the cave, a big Buddha statue with a golden face and feet, the color is as new, lying quietly in the cave.

The walls are filled with various Buddha statues and arhats, as well as some delicate arches.

Everyone was amazed, but they didn't know which dynasty and which generation of arch was hidden.

Grateful for the kindness of the gods and Buddhas, Chai Fu became a monk and lived in a cave.

Since then, the incense in the mountains has continued, and there has been an endless stream of good men and women.

Chai Fu also raised funds to build the ancient temple in a magnificent and splendid way, famous far and wide.

Later, people called this cave "Thousand Buddha Cave" and called this mountain "Thousand Buddha Mountain".

There is another more bizarre legend about the Thousand Buddha Caves.

According to legend, the Tang monk Sun Wukong and his apprentices came to the Flame Mountain to learn the scriptures.

After Sun Wukong was burned by the fake banana fan of the princess of the iron fan, the divine fire instigated, he fell into tears when he met the light.

On this day, the master and apprentice climbed over the ice slab from Turfan.

From Guangquanzi, all the way to the Thousand Buddha Cave to rest and tiptoe.

The presiding monk at that time saw that Sun Wukong was suffering from eye disease.

He led him to the Thousand Buddha Cave and told him to wash his eyes with the water flowing from the navel of the sleeping Buddha.

After washing it three times in a row, Sun Wukong's eye disease disappeared magically, and he was still hot-eyed.

This matter gradually spread, and there were believers and tourists from the north and south of the Tianshan Mountains who came to wash their eyes and cure their diseases.

For a time, the incense of the temple flourished.

Until now, there are still tourists from other places who come here.
