In December last year, the wooden prototype outside had just been built, and the superiors issued a new task to develop an all-metal prototype, and the time was very urgent, and all the work was completed in October 91.

This kind of research and development task is not only the first time in Chengdu, but also the first time in the entire country's aviation industry system.

In the past, there was no need to engage in this kind of all-metal prototype, of course, the wooden prototype must be needed, in each aircraft research unit, there is a group of skilled carpenters, they use their own diligent hands to create a beautiful wooden model.

But why don't you need a metal prototype?

This is caused by many factors, in the past, it was mainly based on surveying and mapping imitation, even if it was similar to the nose of the J-6 that was changed by the Qiang-5, and the J-8 was the double-engine of the J-7, it was only a partial modification, so that when the all-metal prototype was developed, the aircraft would be built directly, and the cost was not very high anyway.

But now it's different, the current J-10, this is a newly developed aircraft, its structure, there has never been a precedent before, with an all-metal prototype, it is obviously able to save costs, once a new aircraft is directly built, it is found that there is a problem with the design, and a lot of time may be wasted to re-modify it, because this may be a situation that affects the whole body.

In this way, it is a step-by-step process to build a metal prototype first, expose a lot of problems through the metal prototype, modify the design, and finally manufacture the prototype.

This is where the task of the metal prototype comes in.

When the task was issued, Song Lao entered the intense work, this is the first time in history! How to do it, you must first come up with an idea.

For example, if you want to make an all-metal prototype, the design must have been completed, the design drawings are to be frozen, and then, how to make the metal prototype, how many parts to divide into, and how to allocate these time, are all to be coordinated.

For everyone, this is a challenge, and at the same time, it also means that the research and development of J-10 has entered a new stage, when the metal prototype is manufactured and approved, it will definitely be able to manufacture a real prototype, which means that it has moved to a new level!

In order to ensure quality and progress, the 611 Institute selected technical backbones with engineering experience and dedication to form four working groups. At the same time, according to the decomposition of each step, a daily meeting system has also been established, and when you can get off work, not to see the time, but to see if the work is completed.

Many of the backbones are not young, but they know that the 611 Institute has been established until now, and this is actually the first project, which is also a major national defense project, so although they are middle-aged, they are still working hard here.

On the wall of the factory, you can see a huge plan network diagram that occupies the entire wall, there are so many dense annotations on it, every time a task is completed, a small flag will be planted on it, and four groups are also here to catch up with me, scrambling.

The research and development of J-10 is highly confidential, until now, the outside world does not know that there is this project in China, so the degree of secrecy here is also very high, for example, there are guards outside here to prevent irrelevant people from entering and leaving, and the curtains here are closed so as not to be seen by outsiders.

You know, it's summer now, although the ceiling fan overhead is wheering and turning, the inside is still unusually stuffy, and for the safety of assembly, everyone needs to wear thick overalls and hard hats, so the body is constantly sweating, and the whole factory is filled with a sour smell of men.

In order to make it go smoothly, they are all sweating like rain, in addition to the natural environment, there are all kinds of artificial noise, all kinds of machines are making harsh sounds, Qin Feng also felt strange for himself, when he just looked at the wooden prototype, he was actually attracted, and he didn't notice the huge movement here!

Now, the main frame of the aircraft is being built, which is the first step and the most difficult step, and a lot of the equipment behind it is installed after the frame is assembled, and the beautiful skin is installed at the end, and after the skin is covered, the metal prototype is created.

Qin Feng's eyes looked at the landing gear, a small landing gear, the knowledge is also very large, this aircraft, with a small three-point landing gear, directly recycled into the belly of the aircraft, will not occupy valuable wing space, in this way, the wing can be used to make the overall fuel tank, increase the fuel capacity, and at the same time, under the wing, there will be a wealth of space to install the pylon, the current variety of fighters, only four pylons, and this aircraft, at least seven, or even more!

The turbojet-15 is the engine of the MiG-23, which has been improved, and now, the relevant supporting engine factories are also rushing to produce this modified turbojet-15 engine, ready to be sent over and installed on this all-metal prototype.

For Song Lao, the turbojet 15 is not a good choice, but there is no way, after all, now if you want to put it in immediately, except for the turbojet 15, there is nothing else, however, the domestic turbofan 10 has also been put on the bench, I don't know if it can catch up with the final production.
