Chapter 31: First Encounter with Resistance (Revision)

When the French flying team completed the mission at great cost, the main support artillery group of the German army could not exist as a force that could play an important role for a considerable period of time. At this time, the French armored clusters began to attack.

As mentioned earlier, the French army gathered as many as two army groups and more than 40 divisions for the attack. This time, at their forefront Xia Fei alone spread out the offensive force of ten divisions. At a width of 24 miles (38.62 km), five of the regiments were like the Hunters of the 1st French Assault Cavalry Division.

Then these armored forces can be described in only one word - overwhelming.

Five fully self-propelled MPM armored fighting vehicles produced by the MPM military-industrial complex are equipped with assault regiments to form a strong armored spearhead, which also includes a large number of self-propelled mortars and self-propelled 75mm guns.

Maybe Xia Fei didn't understand the "large-scale armored cluster battle" that would not have appeared here, but the strength in his hands was already able to make it produce scale effects. If each regiment is calculated on the basis of 375 armored vehicles, then the entire assault group will be lined up with 1,875 armored fighting vehicles on this 38.62-kilometer front.

Of course, the assault was not all infantry fighting vehicles, including many self-propelled mortars and self-propelled 75mm guns for support. Even with this calculation, concentrating this armor at such a narrow distance would make any line of defense seem less solid.

With an order from the French high command, 10 divisions of the French army began to move. In the front were armored spearheads lined up in armoured combat vehicles, behind were supporting mortars and 75mm guns, and behind were large groups of infantry.

Compared to the offensive of the British armored brigades, the French offensive was much more aggressive.

When the "MPM armored fighting vehicles" began to move, the 75-mm guns lined up behind them had already begun to block the pillboxes on the opposite German front, and the mortars were almost silent. The 12.7 mm machine gun of the "Ben Lei attack aircraft" overhead and the 12-kilogram bomblets were as dense as raindrops.

All this is the same as the way the Chinese army of Thunder International attacked in the Battle of Nancy. In the initial battle, the firepower presented the most concentrated strikes.

To add insult to injury, the Germans at the front were left without artillery support.

Under these circumstances, the blows inflicted by the French army were almost entirely unilateral. The offensive of the French armored vehicles went very smoothly with the best protection of a variety of weapons. This time, the Germans did not even fire a few rounds of machine guns and mortars, and soon the Germans on the first line withdrew from the battle and retreated to the second line of defense.

The victory of the attack showed the superiority of the French forces in their abundant manpower, and as the French army, which had suffered almost no losses, occupied the battle line, the infantry behind them rushed forward.

They are armed with a considerable number of four-wheel drive vehicles produced by the MPM military-industrial complex, which for the time being can only be mass-equipped by the French army, except for the Australian army near Batavia.

They dragged specially designed trailers with a load of half a ton, and rushed up to the newly occupied German front, from which the "fast front" of the British army was unequipped.

Although the French government spent a lot of money on these cement components, fortunately they could be covered by captured German-made weapons, but the French government did not pay much money. And with them, they can free up more troops for the offensive, which is a worthwhile deal for Xia Fei.

As planned by Xia Fei, the offensive on the front line was halted shortly, and soon the high-morale French army resumed the offensive. Like the front line of defense, their offensive was still led by massive armoured fighting vehicles, covered by mortars, 75mm guns, and sky-high "Ben Thunder" attack aircraft.

This time, however, they broke into a death trap set for them by General Falkenhey.

"The distance is 3000 meters...... Attention, preparation...... Distance: 1500 meters...... Preparation...... Put! ”

In the renovated reinforced concrete bunkers, the commanders of the anti-aircraft guns that only showed the muzzles of the guns were glued to their artillery mirrors, observing the distance, speed and so on of the target from time to time.

Trained in anti-aircraft shooting, they are not amateurs in shooting at ground targets, and they seem to be quite relaxed. After all, the speed of movement of armored combat vehicles cannot be compared with that of aircraft.

With the commander's command, a burst of fire erupted from the firing port of the pillbox. Their target, the somewhat carried away French armored fighting vehicles that were riding on the victory, was fatally wounded by the blow.

"Boom"

With the sound of explosions, fragments of metal flew in all directions mixed with the bodies of the French soldiers on the armored combat vehicles. And the French soldiers, who had been in the armored combat vehicles, seemed to be stunned by such an artillery fire, and did not even think to return fire immediately.

The power and range of the 37 and 75 mm anti-aircraft guns were obvious, and the 15 mm armor plates and the sloping front armor were not effective against the bombardment of such shells.

Therefore, the "MPM armored fighting vehicle" of the French army that was hit burned violently in the explosion. One by one, the surviving French soldiers jumped from the broken armored vehicles emitting heavy black smoke.

Quickly fall into a nearby crater, or roll in the ground to extinguish the flames. Clenched their weapons tightly in their hands, however, their weapons had no chance of fighting back until they were completely melee.

Worse still, the German infantry, who had been driven out of the pillbox, were reinforced by a line of retreating infantry. They took advantage of this opportunity to desperately shoot at the French soldiers who had lost the protection of their chariots with rifles, machine guns, and mortars in their hands. The bullets and shells that burst out in all directions made the whole battlefield look like hell.

The French soldiers who ran through it tumbled from crater to crater, desperate to survive in hell, or knocked to the ground one by one by a barrage of bullets and shrapnel.

"Suppress the fire!"

Almost everyone shouted in unison, and it was time for those who needed support to speak.

The self-propelled mortars and 75-mm guns that followed the French assault vehicles reacted immediately, firing suppressively at every German concrete pillbox that could not stop spraying flames. The "Benlei-type attack planes" in the air also did not stop diving down from the air to carry out air strikes at these solid firepower points made of reinforced concrete.

The resistance of the charging "MPM armoured fighting vehicle" was greatly reduced, especially when the French soldiers who woke up like a dream began to frantically pour the 12.7 mm or 7.62 mm machine gun bullets on the "MPM armored fighting vehicle", and the German side was further hit hard.

The scales of victory seemed to tilt in favor of the coalition forces for a moment.
