Chapter 4: The Trembling Sea
Off the coast of Frost Trail Island in the Pheton Empire, the sky is blue and the wind is calm.
The Fayton fleet, consisting of three warships, is using oars to cut through the waves and sail away from the wooden improvised dock. Their bows head all the way to the east, leaving a shallow wake on the surface of the sea.
The three ships bearing the Featon Sea Monster flag, like the others, are all made of dragon perch trees native to the Featon Islands. In particular, the keel in the ship is made of the whole trunk of the tree that is old and tall, which makes the warship extremely tough and resistant to wind and waves.
The ships of the Featon people, although narrow, were light and nimble, and they could cross the sea, wash into the shallows, and even sail into the river and swim against the current.
Leading the way among the three ships is the team's flagship, the Starlight. It is different not only because it is longer and larger than the other two ships. It is also because on its high bow is carved a goddess of the sea with her hands held high, and in the hands of the goddess there is also a precious glowstone lamp, which is emitting a faint white light.
The two ships to the left and right of the Starlight are the Power and the Courage, their bows carved with the image of a warrior holding a battle axe and roaring, and although the warrior's waist is also inlaid with glow ore carved into a lamp, its light is slightly fainter, far less dazzling than the glow on the bow of the Starlight.
"I'm about to sail into the Trembling Sea." Said a Fieton sailor.
"May the ancestors bless." Another Fayton sailor silently muttered to the glowstone lamp at the bow of the ship.
"Our ancestors will surely bless us." The sailor said, "All the glowstones that are carved into stone lamps are the lanterns of the ancestors." It will always guide us. ”
Two days after leaving the waters off the coast of Feiton, three warships sailed into the Trembling Sea, which separated the Feiton Islands from the mainland.
The weather in the Trembling Sea is strange and changeable. Soon after sailing into the sea, the sailors saw that the sky was clear and suddenly cloudy, the wind was fierce, and soon torrential rain and huge waves followed.
"Put away the sails and open the canopy. Prepare the oars. The sailors shouted and steered the ship.
The storm continued, the sky was lightning and thunder, and the waves were lifted and thrown down.
It wasn't until late evening that Friedreer lifted a corner of the tarpaulin. He leaned out of the deck, and the raging rain immediately slapped wildly on his grim face. He squinted, looked at the glow crystals on the bow of the ship, and examined the supply barrels fixed around the deck. After one last glance at the soaked wind flag, he quickly reflexively slipped back into the awning.
It was pitch black in the awning, and the rise and fall of the waves made the cabin a mess, and weapons and supplies collided with each other, but the noise at the moment was insignificant under the rumbling sound of the rain tarpaulin from the rainstorm.
Friedreer sat down on the bench and shouted to the warriors in the darkness, "Warriors! Enjoy this night of rainstorm. The ancestors were guiding us from the bow of the ship with lanterns in hand. Strong winds and torrential rain will get us to our destination faster. ”
The originally gloomy atmosphere in the cabin was immediately infected by Friedley's words, and they shouted in unison in the darkness: "Tharu! ”
When the three warships had traversed the Trembling Sea after several days of arduous passage, the sea was calm again.
The sky was clear, the clouds had cleared, and the morning rays of light were shining on the face and chest of the goddess of the sea at the bow of the Starlight.
An old warrior with a thick red beard stood on the bow of the ship and looked out. When a small black dot loomed in the distance from the bow of the ship, he turned back and shouted to Friedlier, "Taru, the watchman island has been found in the southeast. It seems that we have been blown further south by the wind and waves. ”
"Are you sure it's Overwatch Island? Talle Galil. ”
"Yes, you can't go wrong, Taru. I was there with Ioliel a few years ago. ”
Friedlier walked briskly to the bow of the boat, staring at the growing Overwatch Island in deep thought.
Tregalir had expected Friedreel to complain about the bad weather at sea in the past few days, which had caused them to deviate from their original route to the Golden Coast, and then ordered a turnaround. But after some contemplation, Friedlier suddenly smiled contemptuously. He shouted orders to the whole ship: "Go around the watchman island and continue south!" ”
Hearing Fredreel's command, Tarregalil was a little puzzled, but he and the sailors responded with a "Tharu!" He then pulled out a green flag from the deck and waved it at the Power and Courage, which were sailing behind the Starlight, signaling them to follow the ship.
Friedley's gaze swept over the crowd, and he saw that his lieutenant, Evenson, seemed to have something to say, so he stepped over the low benches on the boat and walked towards him.
Evenson saw Friedlier walking towards him, so the Lord took a step forward and said, "Taru, if we continue south, we will approach the coastal waters of the Garland Empire. ”
"I know, Evenson." "That's my goal. ”
"But before you left, you said you were going to the Gold Coast."
Friedlier smiled, "Is the Gold Coast richer than Garland?" ”
"I'm not just going to the coast of Garan, I'm going to find the estuary of the Garland River."
"Huh?" Evenson was surprised by Friedley's words, "Taru, do you know that the Garland River used to be the hinterland of the Garland Empire, but now it has become Garland's last barrier against the Azor. I heard that on both sides of the Garland River, the armies of the two countries were stationed, and a great war was about to break out. And now we're going to drive into there? ”
Friedlier smiled lightly and asked, "Evenson, my brother. When did you get the information about the confrontation between Azor and Garland on the banks of the Garan? ”
Evenson: "About two months ago, a merchant ship from Garland came in. ”
"Two months ago?" Friedlear continued to chuckle, "My brother, hasn't Garland's merchant ship ever visited our Phacton since?" I think that by now the Azor people have crossed the Garland River, and even the entire Garland Empire is in danger. ”
Evenson asked with some consternation, "Taru, how could it be, it's only been two months, and the Athollians can wipe out Garan?" ”
Friedrear: "If you don't take into account the powerful Randy Empire behind Garland, I think the Athollians will be faster." Evenson, as I said, we were able to make a difference along the Gold Coast because the enemies we encountered there were none other than Azor's militia. ”
"Taru, according to you, if we enter the Garland River this time, there is a great possibility that we will encounter Azor's army in Garland. In that case, wouldn't our raid be more dangerous? ”
"Evenson. When two armies are at war, once the winner is decided, whether it is the winner or the loser, they will be in a state of loss of control for the time being, you know? ”
Evenson shook his head in confusion.
Friedlier grabbed Evenson's shoulders and whispered to him, "Are you afraid of the Atholls?" ”
Evenson said decisively: "Don't be afraid! ”
Friedlier asked, "Are you afraid of Garland's army?" ”
"The Pheton are fearless!"
Friedlier looked at Evenson's serious face, smiled close to his ear and said, "If you are not afraid, then we will have a very big harvest this time." ”
Evenson was stunned for a moment before saying, "Taru, you mean you want to take advantage of the fire when Azor has just defeated Garland?" ”
Friedlier smiled and nodded, "Almost." ”
"Taru." "Did you think about this before you left?" ”
"Not exactly, it's thanks to the guidance of our ancestors." "I thought that the winds and currents of the Trembling Sea would take us further south, but I didn't expect to send us so far south. In this way, we have enough supplies on board to support us in the heart of Garland. ”
"Taru, even so. I have a feeling that there is something wrong with our surprise attack on Garland. Evenson said worriedly, "Almost none of the other Taru Tharu in Pheton came to Garland with soldiers from their respective islands. ”
"Are you worried about the king's decree?"
"No, it's not." "You know, I don't care about that. It's just that I still don't feel very comfortable that we were the first to attack Garland. ”
"You should be happy, Evenson." Friedlier smiled lightly and said, "You should see the benefits of us being the first." Neither Garland nor the Azor would have expected us to attack us so suddenly. What's more, the enemy has also prepared loot for us for a longer period of time. ”
Evenson smiled and nodded.
