327. Bold ideas

Twenty local laborers were hired, Charlie's "studio" was swept away, and the whole thing was moved back to the ship. I didn't forget to pay Aunt Marta for the room, and despite her repeated statements that it was enough, I paid Charlie double the price for the room.

It's not for her, it's for Charlie. This is a sign of respect for Charlie from beginning to end, and letting him leave Havana with his head held high, and I am also tethered to keep people.

When I got back on board, I called in Halleha, and he and Charlie would be the closest partners for a long time to come—because their expertise was so complementary!

One of them is the best designer and planner, the other is the best craftsman, and what could be more perfect?

Of course, I will also give them some reasonable or crazy ideas to help them go further and further on the road to madness!

But first thing, I asked Halleha to make a laboratory for Charlie with the iron armor used to reinforce the deck, after all, if his experiments caused the ship to be killed*...... That's more embarrassing.

Of course, I have my own long-term vision for Charlie's mission when he comes to my fleet. As a weak force adrift overseas, only by constantly striving for self-improvement can we survive in the cracks.

I gave Charlie and Halleha a medium-term task - to make something according to my request.

Of course, this was a very "crazy" plan, because from the moment we boarded the ship, I locked myself in the captain's quarters, and the result was the two sketches that I now have in my hands.

One of them is a diagram of the structure of a pull-bolt rifle. The prototype of the firearm I drew was the Springfield, the famous American rifle of World War II, also known as the Springfield rifle. This rifle is well-structured, powerful, and easy to handle, and made a great contribution to the smooth running of World War II!

I drew dozens of sketches of the parts of this rifle on a table-sized piece of paper in their corresponding positions, which made Charlie, as a designer, fall off his jaw in surprise!

It stands to reason that the world's first pull-bolt rifle, the 71 Mauser used in Germany in 1871, seemed like a more reasonable and down-to-earth choice, but unfortunately there was a fatal problem that limited the idea – because I had not seen it......

As for the bullets, I made a sketch of a bullet with a point 30 caliber. The so-called point 30 caliber is 0.3 inch caliber, that is, 7.62 mm caliber rifle cartridge.

Actually, objectively speaking, I am really crazy to do this, because these are the products of 400 years later! And if you want to make such a thing today, the difficulty is really comparable to that of the sky!

Because the emergence of every epoch-making product is the crystallization of wisdom, wealth and technology in all aspects! In many cases, it is not that the ancient people were not smart enough to make good things, but that their basic discipline support could not meet the relevant requirements.

So when I was sketching, I was actually "mixed with water". For example, I changed the rifled barrel of the Springfield rifle to a smoothbore barrel, and in addition to the 7.62 mm round-nosed bullet, which is a modern bullet that includes a projectile, a cartridge case,* and a primer, I also drew a sketch of a round bullet that came with *.

With this simplification, although the round bullet cannot overcome the Magnus effect and produces lateral drift during forward motion, resulting in an arc such as a banana ball, these problems are within the acceptable range of increasing the weight of the bullet as much as possible.

The reason for this lies in the lack of basic materials and tools. The processing of rifled barrel windows, the high-hardness material of the barrel itself, and the steel with the required ductility are all products of the advancement of the times, and they are by no means possible in a "workshop" factory like mine.

So I had no choice but to settle for the next best thing. Of course, every era has its own stage of development, and I came up with this manufacturing plan, and the best case scenario was for me to have the world's first pull-bolt rifle and become a trendsetter of the times.

In the case of a bad situation, the weapons equipped with my fleet will also usher in a major upgrade, which will bring great advantages and help in future battles!

What I offer is a negligible supply of raw materials and tools, as well as negligible costs.

I firmly believe that my investment will pay dividends one day in the future, and this has inspired me to invest further and expand my research team.

Of course, these are things that we have to start after we get back to Europe, and they are not something that can be achieved overnight, so I am not in a hurry.

As for the new gunpowder carried by Charlie, since the artillery we are equipped with is already a product that is ahead of the times, there is no need to make urgent reforms and innovations for the time being, I just let them make a shooting model that combines the new gunpowder with artillery, so as to facilitate the next step of planning.

In order to cooperate with their research, I also assigned them four helpers, all of whom are ingenious and capable young men, and some of the things that run around can be left to these guys.

Looking at the sketch I made and listening to my introduction to this "bolt rifle", Charlie and Halleha's eyes literally burst into flames! With their strength, it can be seen that this is a blueprint with practical application value, and it is by no means a conjecture.

As for where I got such amazing drawings, they asked, I pointed to the sky, and the two immediately shut up.

Charlie said to me excitedly: "Captain, others call me crazy Charlie, but I think it is more appropriate to call you crazy captain!" ”

I smiled arrogantly and said, "Every successful scientist is crazy!" After speaking, he turned his head and walked away in a chic manner under the gaze of the two of them. When I walked out of sight, I sighed and added, "Or a traverser......"

I couldn't help but sigh softly again.

Our destination is the Caribbean town of Veraclus, and it's like a snake to hit the Spaniards, and I'm ready to attack them!

Unlike Veracrus, Havana was more spiritual and symbolic to the Spaniards than it was to the Spaniards, but it was essentially a gathering place for pirates and unscrupulous merchants.

It's like there is a gangster gathering place on a street, and the neighborhood committee has wanted them to leave for many years, but they don't have enough confidence to speak, or they can't make such a commotion.

Unexpectedly, one day, suddenly a gangster who was stronger than this gangster came, and drove the gangster away in a few clicks, but the gangster himself had another business location, as a neighborhood committee, is it necessary to have a party to celebrate?

Therefore, I will never do such a thing that hurts relatives and enemies are happy.

Velacrus is a different story, as the center of modern Mexico was an outpost and hub for Spanish colonization in Mesoamerica in the 16th century!

Friday, 21 April 1519. In the Catholic calendar, this day is known as "Holy Friday", or "Velacrus Day", which means the day of the Cross of Christ.

On this day, Hernán Cortés, the head of the Spanish colonial army, arrived with a large fleet of ships, so Cortés named it "the land of plenty of Veracrus", giving a sacred religious cloak to the bloody colonial rule.

In the decades that followed, Veracruz gradually became the bridgehead for the Spanish colonizers to conquer Mexico. From here, Cortés traveled to the Mexican highlands and conquered the capital of the Azteca Empire, "Tenochtitlan".

The vast majority of the wealth of the new continent came in and out from here, and was continuously transported to the old continent, becoming the primitive accumulation of European capital.

Veraclus quickly became famous, which attracted the attention of many pirates, who constantly went to harass and rob. The famous series of movies "Pirates of the Caribbean" was actually filmed at this stage of the Caribbean, the rise and fall of port cities including Velaclus, and the chaos.

In 1535, the new colonial authorities ordered the construction of the fortified "Castle of San Juan de Urrua" in Veracluz to resist pirate raids and other forces.

Three hundred years later, however, Mexico's final battle against the Spanish colonial forces in the War of Independence was fought here.

Thus, the Spanish colonization of Mexico began and ended with the "Castle of San Juan de Urrua" – or Velacrus, which witnessed the tragic experience and the process of freedom in Mexico.

As Spain's largest trading hub in Central America, the best thing to do is to destroy it! Through shelling, fire and other methods, the function of the city was completely paralyzed.

But history has taught me that any damage caused by a strong external force will become an opportunity for a city and a country to rebound strongly! So I'm going to take a different situation to solve this problem.

Taizu said that if you don't investigate, you won't have the right to speak. So my ship continued to fly the Italian flag, which allowed our fleet to sail almost unhindered in a situation where the war had not yet spread and the overall environment was not too severe.

After all, in a mercenary country like Italy, who cares where he goes and what he does? It's as if a wealthy man with a lot of money would never mind what a fancy-looking hippie in front of his door thinks, it's not worth it at all.

The moment I set foot in the port of Veracruz, the hot and humid air almost knocked me down! The sticky feeling mixed with the fishy smell and rotten smell of fish and shrimp unique to the seaside made me want to escape from this place in the first place!

I finally understood why Veraculus had been abandoned twice in history – because the environment was so bad! However, the strategic position is too important, so Veraclus can enter the palace three times, until today.

So I can only use my internal strength to resolve the external discomfort. Soon, I felt cool all over! Huiwu is good, with air conditioning!

The port of Veraculus is much cleaner than the chaos of Havana - at least most of the shady business has gone underground, although the slave trade is still functioning in a grand manner.

As for the reason - every penny earned from the slave trade was given to Spain by God, and it was legitimate! It's so cool, it's so powerful, it's not okay if you don't accept it!

Also, due to the volume of trade, there is a vague zoning within the entire port, which also makes our search a lot easier.

Unfortunately, we do not have a license to trade here, so we can only engage in a small number of private transactions, and we do not have the basis for large transactions.

But that didn't stop me from observing their trading and looking for the last Aztec relic, the dagger of Tonatiu, the sun god of Veraxlus, said to have been left behind!

And as I spent more time in the trading center of Veracruz, a general idea began to emerge in my mind, and as it became clearer, I began to have a bold idea!

It seems that madness is contagious! Under Charlie's influence, I'm getting crazier and crazier now! I said to myself. After saying that, I laughed embarrassedly to myself.
