Chapter Seventy-One: Hami
Generally speaking, the Silk Road began in the period of Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty, and the forerunner was Zhang Qian, who sent an envoy to the Western Regions with the intention of contacting the Dayue clan to attack the Xiongnu.
After that, Emperor Wu sent the hussar general Huo to the sick and flat Hexi Corridor, King Hutu was killed, the evil king surrendered, and then the Han Dynasty set up the famous four counties of Hexi in the hometown of the two kings, that is, the Hexi Corridor, from east to west are Wuwei, Zhangye, Jiuquan and Dunhuang.
Dunhuang is located at the westernmost end of the Hexi Corridor and is also the focus of contention between Han and Hu, so the Han Dynasty built two famous passes near Dunhuang, namely Yumen Pass and Yangguan, Yangguan is named because it is south of Yumen Pass, and the name of Yumen Pass comes from the jade from the Western Regions through which the jade was transported to Chang'an.
The so-called "no one left Yangguan in the west", the early business travelers generally rested in Dunhuang, and then chose Yumen Pass or Yangguan to go west.
But whether it is out of Yumen Pass or Yangguan, it is necessary to make "sweet contact" with the famous Taklamakan Desert, so it is also a "road of death".
By the time of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the merchants opened up a new Silk Road, that is, from Dunhuang to the northwest, along the southern foot of the Tianshan Mountains to Yiwu (Hami), and then passed through Puzihai (now Balikun Lake), Beiting (Jimusar), Luntai (Banquan), Gongyue City (Huocheng), and Broken Leaves (Tokmak) to Talas.
Further on, there are more routes, with possible destinations in Tehran, Beirut, Baghdad, Damascus and even Istanbul, which leads to Europe.
Of course, it is unlikely that a single merchant will be able to complete the entire Silk Road, and they will generally complete the entire route in a relay manner.
In later generations, Dunhuang has declined, and what makes it famous is the murals of the Mogao Grottoes, not the westernmost county of the four counties of Hexi, and now even the ruins of Yumen Pass and Yangguan can not be determined......
In a sense, Hami replaced Dunhuang and became a well-deserved "throat of the Western Regions".
When the Yuan Dynasty fell, Hami was occupied by a descendant of Chagatai - the mighty king of Wunasuri, who called himself king according to Hami and called himself the king of Hami.
In the fifth year of Hongwu, Feng Shengbu of the Ming army led the army to the west, broke through the city of Hami, but did not send troops to garrison, and built the Jiayu Pass when returning to the army, only occupied the eastern part of the Hexi Corridor, and Dunhuang in the west was completely abandoned.
Of course, Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang of Hongwu saw the importance of Hami very clearly, so in the twenty-fourth year of Hongwu, in the name of robbing business trips and cutting off trade routes in Hami, he sent Liu Zhen and Song Sheng to conquer Hami City, so far, Hami Kingdom completely surrendered.
Two years later, in the twenty-sixth year of Hongwu, Urnasuri fell ill and died, and was succeeded by his brother Ankh Timur.
In the second year of Jianwen, that is, the same year that Zhu Di's rebellion was suppressed, Zhu Yunwen named Anke Timur as the king of loyalty, gave him a gold seal, set up Hami Guard, and set up commands, thousands of households, and hundreds of households; In addition, in order to better control Anke Timur, Zhu Yunwen also sent Changshi, Jishan and other officials to him in accordance with the regulations of Prince Daming to manage the affairs of the palace in a unified manner.
At the same time, the Ming army stationed a thousand defenders in Hami, commanded by a thousand households.
By the ninth year of Jianwen, the Ming army in Hami City gradually increased, because it had become a distribution center for military assistance to the Warat and Eastern Chagatai Khanate, and Fang Bin, who served as the governor of Gansu, also stayed here, and the envoys to Warat and the Eastern Chagatai Khanate also set off from here, and then returned to Hami to report to Fang Bin.
In July, Zhang Fu, the capital of Gansu, arrived in Hami, followed by the Ninth Guards Cavalry Corps.
......
"Tazhil!"
"In!"
"You take someone to block it!"
"Yes! Come with me! ”
Tazhile turned his horse's head in response and led more than a dozen knights to kill behind him, facing hundreds of cavalry, this was a battle of moths to the fire!
"Let's go! Come on! ”
Garu glanced back, and saw that the pursuers were not fools, although the Chinese army was temporarily blocked by the desperate Tazhil, but its flanks were not affected in the slightest, they bypassed Tazhil and continued to chase after him, and could not help shouting at the knights beside him in a hurry.
The knight beside Galu rode a red horse, with strong bones, obviously much more powerful than the other horses, but the speed of the horse was not too fast, because there were two people sitting on the horse, one was a young and sturdy woman, and the other was a boy of four or five years old, the boy was tightly tied to the chest by the woman, and unlike the woman's horror, the boy was looking through her shoulder, curiously looking at the smoke behind her.
The woman glanced back, couldn't help but let out an "ah", and hurriedly whipped the horse, but unfortunately her riding skills were not good, and the jujube red horse was not very popular.
Galu looked at the faintly visible Hami City in front of him, gritted his teeth, and said loudly: "Master, hold on to the reins!" ”
As he spoke, Galu pulled out his dagger, and a dagger pierced the woman's crotch on the buttocks of the red horse.
The jujube red horse stabbed, and the "sigh law" screamed, and ran forward at an accelerated speed.
The woman on the horse felt as if she was galloping, and quickly distanced herself from Galu, and at the same time she heard Galu behind her shouting: "Mastermother, when you arrive in Hami, go find Master Fang!" ”
Lord Fang?
The woman doesn't understand, and she doesn't have the energy to think about it, all she can do is hold on to the reins and protect the child on her chest, which is the only blood and blood of her husband, and there must be no accidents......
Galu looked at the woman's back and said silently: "Master, what you ordered, Galu did it!" ”
"Garu will be waiting for you soon!"
Garu drew his scimitar, turned his horse's head, and headed towards the overwhelming cavalry......
......
"Boom!"
"Alas! It's a pity, it's just one step away! ”
"Wow!"
Xiban grabbed the reins of his horse and looked hatefully at the city of Hami not far away, where the gates were closed, and a woman and a child knelt under the city, and not far behind him was a slumped red horse.
Women and children were fine in the past, but they couldn't, and the former class clenched his fists, but there was nothing he could do.
Xiban was only a thousand households, and his cavalry was less than a thousand, so it was simply unrealistic to attack Hami City, let alone the artillery at the head of the city, and the Great Khan strictly ordered that no clash with the Hami defenders should be allowed.
He thought for a moment, and beckoned one of his men, ordering him to dismount and walk while waving a white flag and shouting to the city.
"Soldiers of Hami City, we are the cowardly army of the Mongol Great Khan, and we are here to capture the fugitive slaves! Please don't let the arrows go! Don't fire! We don't mean it very well! ”
After a while, the gates opened.
Under the watchful eyes of Xiban and his men, a group of cavalry came out of the city gate, walked up to the woman, and said a few words to her, and then the woman stood up, led the child, and followed the cavalry into the city of Hami, and then the city gate was closed, and then there was laughter in the city!
"It's so damnable!"
The teeth of the former Banqi were about to be crushed, and the Mongolian cavalry behind him was also full of righteous indignation and asked for battle.
Just when Xiban was in a dilemma, the city gate opened again, this time it was the ironclad cavalry who came out, they didn't say a word, they killed directly, Xiban and his men were not ambiguous, and the two sides immediately started a fight under the city.
The Mongols soon scattered and fled on the orders of the Shabran, for the simple reason that the Ming cavalry appeared behind them.
......
Looking at the defeated Mongols, Zhang Fu, who was watching the battle at the head of the city, shook his head regretfully and ordered the army to withdraw.
Seeing this scene, Fang Bin retracted his gaze, looked at the woman kneeling in front of him, and said in a deep voice: "You are Uzhina?" The woman of the king's line? ”
"Yes! My lord! ”
"Is there any evidence?"
