Chapter 123: Immortality is Immortal

Speaking of Confucianism, we have to mention a major event in history, book burning and Confucianism.

After Qin Shi Huang destroyed the Six Kingdoms, in order to further consolidate his political power, he unified his thinking. He listened to Li Si's words and quickly made a decision. Books were banned nationwide and hundreds of classics were burned. Among them, it is led by the two classics of "Poems" and "Books". These two books are one of the most important works of Confucianism.

"Historical Records of Qin Shi Huang Benji" records: "Those who are not doctors' officials, dare to have Tibetan poems, books, and hundreds of languages in the world, and they will keep them and burn them." There are those who dare to say poetry and books to abandon the market. The ancient is not the present. Whoever sees that he does not raise the line is guilty of the same crime. The order is not to burn for 30 days, and it is a city. ”

What does "ι»₯η‚ΊεŸŽδΈΉ" mean? These were the two kinds of torture in the Qin Dynasty. Torture, also known as ink punishment, is the use of a knife to carve words on the face of the prisoner and the ink applied to the wound so that it never fades. "Chengdan" is to force prisoners to go to the border to build the Great Wall and serve as free labor. But under the conditions at that time, building the Great Wall was equivalent to sending people to death, and there was basically no return.

In the middle and late stages of the "book burning", the law became stricter, and even those who talked about "poems" and "books" were put to death. Those who "use the past but not the present" will be exterminated! This was a fatal blow to Confucianism. How terrifying the atmosphere was at that time, you can feel it from the words of Qin Shihuang's eldest son, Gongzi Fusu.

"The world is initially decided, the distant Qianshou has not been gathered, all living beings are reciting the law of Confucius, and now they are all re-legged to the law, and the ministers are afraid that the world is uneasy, but they can only observe it."

But because of such a big truth, Fusu angered Qin Shi Huang. He was directly expelled from Xianyang and sent to assist Meng Tian in building the Great Wall. This shows how strong Qin Shi Huang's determination to "burn books" is.

So much so that later, the first emperor ordered the pit to kill "more than 460 people who violated the ban", leaving behind an infamy through the ages. Although some scholars believe that these people who were killed were not "Confucian students", but some charlatans who deceived Qin Shi Huang and said that they could find the "elixir of life". But this does not deny the fact that Confucianism was the biggest victim of this catastrophe.

And the reason why Qin Shi Huang made such a decision was precisely because he believed in Legalism too much. The fact that the Qin State was able to destroy the Six Kingdoms and dominate the world had a huge relationship with the School of Reuse Legalists. From Shang Ying's change of law to Yingzheng's ascendancy, Han Fei, Li Si and others were enabled. It was after hundreds of years of reform and development that the Qin State was able to gradually grow from a small country to the point of destroying the Six Kingdoms.

Legalist thought advocated the rule of law, especially after the unification of the six countries by Qin, in order to strengthen the centralization of power, the "heavy code" was used, and all laws were extremely strict. But "under the heavy ceremony", the people are often struggling to make a living, and the people are panicked. This is exactly the opposite of Confucianism's emphasis on "etiquette".

Confucius believed, "If people are not benevolent, how can they be polite?" Therefore, Confucianism advocates the rule of virtue of "morality and courtesy". It is to use moral norms to restrain people in a gentle way. And what the non-legalists advocate is to make people fear and fear through cruel punishments.

In other words, compared to other schools. Confucianism is truly on the opposite side of the entire Great Qin Empire. Ying Zheng naturally hated Confucianism very much. In addition, the Great Qin Empire at that time had just dominated the world. Then he attacked the Xiongnu in the north and conquered Baiyue in the south, creating an unprecedented cause. Ying Zheng boasted of being a high meritorious, three emperors and five emperors, how could he put the people of the six countries in his eyes?

However, the negative impact of "book burning and Confucianism" has affected the whole world. As Gongzi Fusu said, "All living beings recite Confucius." At that time, Confucianism was already the largest school in the Six Kingdoms. In the territory of Daqin, there are countless Confucian scholars. Ying Zheng was anxious to unify his thinking, and used the practice of "burning books" to stifle the wisdom of the people, which directly shook the foundation of the Qin Dynasty's rule.

In a sense, the destruction of Confucianism by the Qin Dynasty and the persecution of Confucian students indirectly contributed to the peasant uprising at the end of the Qin Dynasty. This is the imperial court system, and the ideological conflict with the people is the most difficult to run. The emperor's idea stood on the opposite side of the people of the world, and the people naturally could not accept such a rule. Resistance is inevitable.

Therefore, after Liu Bang established the Han Dynasty, he immediately canceled the Qin Dynasty's "strict punishment law". He advocated governing the country with Confucianism, supplemented by Legalism. In the twelfth year of Gaozu, he personally went to Qufu to worship Confucius, and named Confucius's eighth grandson, Kong Teng, as the enshrined monarch. And this concept of governing the country with Confucianism reached its peak during the period of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty. In the more than 2,000 years of feudal dynasties since then, Confucianism has become the orthodoxy of all dynasties. And the descendants of Confucius have also been knighted for generations.

At this time, in the Tang Dynasty, Dazong ascended the throne, and Yu Guozijian "stopped sacrificing to the Duke of Zhou and promoted the master to the first saint", which shows that the emperor and the court attach great importance to Confucianism. The Qufu Kong clan does not seem to be among the "five surnames and seven hopes", but it has been passed down for thousands of years, and it has lived longer than any family. Moreover, no matter who is the emperor in all dynasties, no matter how chaotic the world is, all rulers will be courteous to the descendants of Confucius. Provide a variety of preferential policies, and confer knighthoods. The foundation of the Confucian family is too deep to imagine.

Kong Wen is the bloodline of Confucius, even if he is not the eldest grandson of the contemporary head of the family, his status is extremely high. What's even more powerful is that Kong Wen has already learned the world and is a generation of Confucianism. In the academic world of the day, it has a decisive weight. Lu Xin didn't expect that such characters would hide quietly in the crowd. I didn't expect that he would come out to defend himself.

Last night, Chang'an City was in turmoil, and Kong Wen can be said to be a key figure. Shangguan Yunyi, a purple Qing person, came to find him, and made a big fuss at the Baifu Inn, which kicked off the prelude to the murder and robbery. At that time, Li Chunfeng spoke highly of him, saying that "Haoran righteousness has been strong enough to evolve the Heluo Liangyi Diagram", and he was blessed by God and was inviolable.

Kong Wen's appearance made the faces of several major county princes change one after another. The eldest grandson Wuji, who was originally furious, gradually suppressed his anger. Even Li Xiaogong, who wanted to leave, stopped and looked back, with a hint of solemnity on his face. In fact, Kong Wen's age is exactly the same as that of the eldest grandson Wuji and Li Xiaogong. The three of them are all characters of the same era, and they know each other very well.

"Qufu Kong family! Brother Xiding, this person seems to be going to help those two boys too, and this time it's troublesome. ”

"Hmph, it's more than trouble. The Tang Dynasty admires Confucianism and respects Confucius, since His Majesty ascended the throne, he has promoted the master to the first saint, and has repeatedly issued edicts to order the state capitals to build Confucius temples and worship at four o'clock. Don't look at him, there is no one in the Confucian family, but the face is huge, in all dynasties, which emperor does not give them three points of thin noodles? What's more, this Kongwen, calligraphy, poetry and painting are all unique, as early as ten years ago famous all over the world. According to his father, this person has reached the highest level of reading and cultivating qi, and his Confucian righteousness has even reached the point where he can transform into a form. I really didn't expect that this person would enter Beijing at this time, could it be that he also came to participate in the imperial examination? ”

Wang Xiding's face was extremely ugly, and his brows were tightly locked, which showed the jealousy in his heart. After listening to this, Zheng Huiming and Lu Houze on the side glanced at each other and stopped talking.

At the same time, the eldest grandson Wuji coughed dryly twice, barely squeezing out a smile on his face.

"It turned out to be a filial brother, I haven't seen him for many years, and my brother's complexion is getting better and better."

"Thanks to my brother's concern, everything is fine. Auxiliary, today's matter, don't argue about what is right and wrong. Compared with these, His Majesty's scientific research is more important. ”

"Brother Xiaocheng, you ...... Alas, no matter what, this matter will be handled by the prince of the county, and the official will no longer interfere. ”

The eldest grandson Wuji and Kong Wen obviously knew each other, and they were commensurate with their respective "words" as soon as they came up. And the eldest grandson Wuji's expression changed slightly after hearing that Kong Wen wanted to let Lu Xin and the others go. But after a long silence, he nodded in agreement. What's even stranger is that from the time it happened to the present, everyone is arguing about right and wrong. Even if Li Xiaogong came forward to protect people, there were many objections. But this time, the audience was silent, and no one intervened, let alone came out to object.

"Hahahaha...... The Confucian family in Qufu is worthy of being a saint. Kong Wen, this king has heard of your name more than ten years ago. It's a pity that this king has been on horseback to fight east and west and has no chance to meet. Seeing each other today, I not only fulfilled the king's long-cherished wish, but also owed you a favor. If it weren't for the imminent scientific expedition, this king would definitely invite you to go to the house for a few cups of sorrel. ”

"The prince is serious, and he just talks about things in the future, and he doesn't favor anyone, let alone praise or disparage. As for this wine, since it is the invitation of the prince, how dare Xiaocheng not go? ”

"Really?" Li Xiaogong was slightly surprised, and then said with surprise and joy: "Isn't Brother Kong Wen still going to participate in the scientific examination?" ”

"Hehe, on a whim, it's just a whim. Now that he has arrived in Chang'an, he has seen this prosperous world and the students of the world, and Xiaocheng has been satisfied. Fame and fame are not something that must be taken. It's better to make room and let these descendants share His Majesty's worries. ”

When Kong Wen spoke, his eyes looked at Zhang Yuzhi, Zheng Huiming and others one by one. The voice sounds flat, but the tone is very breathing. However, none of the people present showed a look of displeasure. Even Zheng Huiming and other arrogant people also behaved very respectfully and responded with the courtesy of students.

After Kong Wen finished speaking, he walked directly to Li Xiaogong, and finally stopped in front of King Luo Bin. I saw him smiling and putting his hands on the child's shoulders, his eyes were full of kindness, just like looking at his own child.

"You are still young, why rush into officialdom. Chang'an City is not suitable for you, how about returning to Yanzhou Qufu with me? After you have finished the crown ceremony, it is not too late to come back for the scientific examination. ”

"Are you after the Confucian Sage?"

Luo Bingwang had a resentful face, and he was seriously injured, and his expression was extremely cold and terrifying. But at this moment, a gentle glint finally appeared in the child's eyes. And Kong Wen's words also moved the onlookers again. It was Li Xiaogong, who suddenly blinked his left eye.
