Chapter 4 Happy Cooperation
Perhaps frightened by the sudden appearance of the FI156 reconnaissance aircraft, the Polish army accelerated its retreat.
After confirming that the Polish troops had withdrawn, Chen Dao boldly sent his soldiers out of the woods and stood on the open ground and waved to the reconnaissance plane.
The soldiers' feat paid off, the reconnaissance plane apparently spotted them, and after circling over their heads a few times, one of the plane's members leaned out of the back window and waved at them, and after another circle, the reconnaissance plane flew in the direction of the Polish retreat.
"What do they mean by that? That's it? Chen Dao and Randolph looked at fi156 in the distance and said.
The radio quickly answered Chen Dao's questions.
"Major Rosen, I am Major Heisenberg, the commander of the First Independent Aviation Regiment under the Fourth Air Force, and I am ordered to lead the whole regiment to provide you with air support.
"Major Heisenberg, I'm Major Rosen, I hear you." Chen Dao shouted into the microphone.
"Did you see a Fi156 reconnaissance plane just now?"
"I saw it, it just left and flew away in a northeasterly direction." Chen Dao said.
"God forbid, we have finally determined your position, please hold on a little longer, reinforcements will arrive soon, if you are attacked by the Poles before the reinforcements arrive, please contact me immediately, and I will provide you with air support."
"How long will it take for reinforcements to arrive?" Chen Dao asked anxiously.
"Two hours at most." Major Heisenberg replied.
Contrary to Chen Dao's expectations, only an hour later, a deafening roar was heard in the sky.
"I'm sure it's Aunt Juncker's voice, and there's a lot of it," Chen Dao jumped to his feet with a beaming face, dragging Randolph out of the woods.
"Rejoice, our reinforcements have arrived." Chen Dao pointed to the formation of JU-52 transport planes in the sky and shouted excitedly.
"Lieutenant Randolph, you immediately set off flares to guide them, and I'll go see the wounded first." Chen Dao ordered.
Soon, two flares flew into the sky with a flashing green light.
As if to say hello to their brothers on the ground, the two ME-109 fighters broke away from the escort formation and dived down to the ground, whistling at a height of about fifty meters, and a gust of wind rolled up on the ground.
"These daredevils." Lieutenant Randolph clutched his hat and laughed.
The JU-52 formation, known as "Aunt Junker", flew closer and closer, and as the plane door opened, figures leaped out of it, and there were more white umbrella flowers and trapeze artists in the sky.
"Is it a paratrooper?" Lieutenant Randolph guessed.
Lieutenant Randolph saw the paratroopers of the Luftwaffe 7th Air Division, led by the commander of the 7th Air Division, Major General Studenter.
The 7th Air Division was supposed to be assigned to Group South, and they were to be responsible for the airborne capture of the main bridge over the Vistula.
Unfortunately, the German army marched faster than everyone expected, and they seized those bridges on their own, and the airborne troops were useless at all.
Unwilling to sit on the cold bench and watch the Army's achievements, Student asked Army Group South Command to assign tasks to the Seventh Air Division, to which Army Group South replied: "You can go to the front and see where you can be used." ”
Eager to fight, Student rode an armored car to the front line to look for fighters, but not only did he fail to do so, but he was almost captured by the Polish army.
Just when Student was almost disheartened, a phone call from Goering reinvigorated him, and in his excitement, Student decided to personally lead the parachute to carry out the rescue operation of the "brother-in-law", in order to show the presence of the 7th Air Division.
After landing safely, Student untied the parachute tied to his body, and after asking a few people about the location of Major Rosen, Student walked towards the forest, and behind him, the paratroopers who had landed one after another began to assemble under the command of the officer.
Looking up, Student saw the corpses of German soldiers everywhere on the roads and in the ruins of buildings, and abandoned equipment such as anti-aircraft guns, cannons, and trucks scattered everywhere.
Walking into the woods, Student saw large and small craters in the woods, as well as countless blown trees, and stumps covering the ground, all of which showed that this place had just experienced a terrible battle.
It seemed that there were heavy casualties, Student lamented, and after capturing a private from an anti-aircraft artillery battalion and questioning him, he finally found the target of the operation.
"Don't cry, your leg will be fine, our reinforcements have arrived, I will immediately send someone to take you to the hospital for treatment."
As soon as Student approached the back of the major wearing the major's epaulettes, he heard these whispers, and he couldn't help but have a little more respect for this "brother-in-law" major, and after the battle, he came to comfort the wounded soldiers, which is definitely the basic quality necessary for an officer, and it seems that this "brother-in-law" major should not belong to the kind of gentleman who only relies on nepotism.
"I'm Major General Studenter, commander of the 7th Air Division of the Luftwaffe, are you Major Heinz von Rosen?" Stud took the initiative to say hello.
"I'm Major Rosen, and you've finally arrived." Chen Dao stood up and saluted Studenter.
"Hopefully I'm not late." Student returned the salute, his gaze swept over the white bandage on Chen Dao's head, and then said, "Major Rosen, let's talk in another place." ”
Chen Dao comforted the wounded man a few more words, and then followed Student to a secluded place.
"I'm ordered to take you out of the battlefield, my men will clear a clearing, and then a white crane scout will land, and you can go." Student said.
"I'm not going anywhere, I'm going to avenge my men." Chen Dao's answer was very crisp.
"But I was ordered to take you off the battlefield." There was a little more respect in Studenter's eyes when he looked at Chen Dao.
"I'm sorry, General Studenter, I didn't get an order to leave the battlefield, I can't go." Chen Dao said.
"But ・・・・・・," Student insisted.
"Do you have a written order?" Chen Dao asked.
"No, I received a verbal order from Marshal Goering on the phone." Student told the truth.
Chen Dao spread his hands, smiled and said, "I can not carry out an order without a written order, what do you say, general?" ”
"What do you want to do when you stay?" Stud asked.
"General, did you see the wounded soldier just now, he was injured in the buttocks by a Polish shell, shrapnel injured his nervous system, and he may have to live on crutches for the rest of his life, he is only twenty-one years old this year."
"It's unfortunate, but there are a lot of things like this in war, and you have to learn to get used to it." As a veteran of World War I, Student was no stranger to death and mutilation.
"But he was injured to save me, and I want to avenge him, and that's what I want to do now." Chen Dao said.
"So what are you going to do?"
"Kill the Poles, it may be a battalion, it may be a regiment, a division, in short, you can kill as many Poles as you can." Two lines of anger shot out of Chen Dao's eyes.
"Major Rosen, do you know what I was doing before I came here?" Stud asked suddenly.
Chen Dao shook his head.
"I've been wandering around the theater of Army Group South like an orphan with no one to take care of, trying to find a battlefield for my soldiers."
Chen Dao saw the undisguised self-deprecation on Studenter's face, and asked out of curiosity: "Didn't the Southern Army Group Command assign you a task?" ”
"Originally, it was, but then it was gone, and I went to the people of Army Group South and asked them to assign me a new mission, and they gave me the task of 'go to the battlefield and find the fighters yourself, dear General Student.'"
"They're going too far." Chen Dao knew what he should say at this time.
"God forbid, I have now finally found a chance for my soldiers to receive a medal, and I can't afford to miss it."
"So what are you going to do?" Chen Dao asked.
"To take out as many Poles as possible before the end of the war against Poland, it may be a battalion, it may be a regiment, a division, in short, I want to prove to the army that we are strong." Stud said with a smile.
"It seems that we have a common goal, so can we ・・・・・・ cooperate?" Chen Dao smiled.
"It's a pleasure to work with." Student held out his right hand.
"Happy to work with"
The two large hands were clasped tightly together・・・・・・
