Chapter Eighty-Three: The Granary
Wei Zeng hoped that it was the Qin State at this time, as long as the Qin army could defeat the Chu army, the half of the city of Daliang would naturally be able to be saved. After saying this, he suddenly woke up again: If the Qin army really defeated the Chu army, then Wei would be in a tug-of-war between these two countries, and Wei's national strength and soldiers would be consumed little by little, and a cold sweat suddenly broke out in his vest.
'Boomββγ boomββγboomββγ' When Wei Zeng was still fighting left and right in his mind, there was a boom in the north of the city, and the entire girder seemed to be shaking, and the tremor made the curtain hanging in the Yan Dynasty tremble.
"The king of Chu has attacked the city." Bai Yi sighed, he knew it was the sound of a trebuchet smashing against a wall.
"The state of Wei is destined to die at the hands of the king!" Wei Jianwu dropped such a sentence and turned away.
'Bangββγ bangββγ bangββγ 'The sound of smashing walls heard inside and outside the city is different, the inside of the city is a more faint 'boom', and the outside of the city is a clear 'bang'. Every time a thousand pounds of wall-breaking bullets hit the city wall, a concave mark would be hammered out on the rammed earth wall, and mud and smoke flew everywhere, and the Wei soldiers in the city were in an uproar, and no one dared to stand on the bombarded city wall.
It's just that, after all, the girder is the capital of Wei, no better than the thin Jucheng city wall or the Great Wall of Qi made of mountains and stones. The lowest end of the girder city wall is more than ten zhang thick, and the narrowest part of the city is also four zhang, so the thick city wall is not so much smashing, but picking little by little. After the rammed earth wall is smashed too much, it will peel off layer by layer.
This is related to the nature of the rammed earth wall, such a wide city wall, it is impossible to build a plane, can only be built side by side, so as to achieve a width of more than ten zhang. As with reinforced concrete, in order to ensure that the construction on a horizontal plane is closely connected with the construction, a lot of wood is placed horizontally in the rammed earth, and the rammed buildings on the same horizontal plane are tightened by the friction between the mud and wood. However, under the hammer shock of 250 kilograms of city-breaking bullets, the mud and wood will become more and more loose, so that one building will fall off.
Of course, this process is not something that can be seen in one or two days, and it takes more than ten or dozens of days of hammering to achieve such an effect. Prior to this, several trebuchets had been aimed at the city gates, which were the weakest link in the city's defense system. But before entering the city gate, you must first lower the drawbridge, or build a pontoon bridge like the Qin army.
After half a year of the battle of Chen Ying, Xiong Jing who defended the city knew it, but now he was at a loss, standing in the position where the Qin and Wei armies stood in the past. Fortunately, there were two generals in the Chu State, and when Xiang Yan led more than 70,000 people to garrison Aocang, Lian Po led an army of 150,000 troops to garrison under Daliang City. As for Pang Nuan, the general of Zhao who was expelled from Zhao after Zhao Yan's death, he could only watch from the sidelines.
Pang Nuan's beard and hair are all white, and compared with Lian Po, who loves to doze off, his spirit is naturally much better. He also has an identity as Linwujun of the Chu State, and his fief is in the southern part of Hunan in the later generations, the southernmost edge of the administrative jurisdiction of the Chu State. is also a famous general and the feudal monarch of Chu State, not to mention replacing Xiang Yan, at least he can replace the too old Lian Po, but the generals of the counties have no good impression of him, he can only stay by Xiong Jing's side.
"With this artifact, the city is broken like Tang Woxue." Pang Nuan looked at the trebuchet that kept firing stone bullets and hammering the city wall, and sighed so emotionally.
"The general said that the Empress Dowager of Zhao and the Marquis of Chunping were in agreement?" Xiong Jing was also watching the trebuchet smash the wall, and he was still thinking about Zhao Guo.
"Your Majesty, yes." Pang Nuan said. "Before the first king of Zhao mourned the fall of the king of Xiang, the queen had an affair with the Marquis of Chunping, and when the king of Xiang fell, he summoned the queen and did not come. On the same day, the queen took the Marquis of Chunping as the prime minister and dismissed the empty horse. β
"In this way, is it the queen who fornicated with the Marquis of Chunping?" Xiong Jing Road. "Although the Marquis of Chunping was once the eldest son, this throne ......"
"The king doesn't know." Pang Nuan is still familiar with Zhao Guo. "The queen is a daughter, because the king of mourning Xiang saw his beauty and set up as the queen, his son came out, and the Zhao people all read the first son Zhao Jia. If the Marquis of Chunping helps Zhao Jia to ascend the throne as king, the current king of Zhao will be abolished. β
"Oh." Xiong Jing said, he remembered that there was also a waste prince Zhao Jia, and he also remembered Zhao Chen Guo Kai, Li Mu seemed to have been killed by Guo Kai. "How is Guo Kai?"
"Guo Kai?" Pang Nuan didn't expect Xiong Jing to know Guo Kai, he replied: "Guo Kai is the favored minister of King Zhao Mourning Xiang, although he is not a gentleman, but he pursues a pro-Qin policy and breathes for Zhao." β
"What about Li Mu?" Xiong Jing asked another Zhao person, "How is Li Mu?" One day, can Li Mu be killed by King Zhao? β
Not long after Li Mu broke the Huns, he was the minister of Zhao when Pang Nuan left Zhao. Now the battle of Yan is under the command of Li Mu, a few days ago I just heard that Li Mu captured Fuyang, and Yan is only separated by a Juyongsai. Xiong Jing said at this time that Li Mu was killed by King Zhao, Pang Nuan thought about it again and again, and finally said: "The minister thinks that if King Zhao kills Li Mu, he should abolish Prince Jia." β
"Yes." Xiong Jing sensed something, and at this time he was walking towards the dock under the guidance of Chang Jiang. "You go on."
"The minister thinks that Li Mu is a good general, not a good minister, let alone a minister." Pang Nuan followed Xiong Jing and said.
"In other words, Li Mu is the minister of the society." Xiong Jing mentioned this concept again.
"Yes. Li Mu is the general of the substitute land, and the substitute land is located in the border, and the folk customs are very different from Handan. Handan's unexpected, Jinyang did not lose often went to Jinyang, Jinyang often went to the place after the loss, and even fled to the Huns. Now the king of Zhao has to stand, Zhao Jia is not allowed to go out of Handan, but many of his subordinates fled to the land, if Li Mu intends to help Zhao Jia, the king of Zhao should be punished. β
"I see." Xiong Jing had some realization, maybe Li Mu was killed by King Zhao because he was involved in the dispute over the abolition of the establishment.
Li Mu died, and Zhao Guo was destroyed. Although the Qin army now regards the state of Chu as the main enemy, Li Mu's importance to the state of Zhao is undoubted, and even more important than Xiang Yan to the state of Chu. After Xiang Yan, there were a large number of growing generals of the Chu State, and the difference between them and Xiang Yan was only in the ability to organize large-scale battles, but this was gradually being replaced by the Great Sima Mansion.
Aboard the Winged Warship, the warship sailed to Pondazawa, where a large-scale battle was also going on: concrete pouring.
"Remember! Be sure to be compact, be sure to be compact. Feng Renjiao stood beside a shelf made of a pile of bamboo, watching buckets of mixed concrete be lifted from the boat, poured into the mold by Lifu, and kept admonishing. Upon his instructions, the steel drill in the hands of the craftsman was constantly pounded into the concrete poured into the mold to prevent gaps from being created during pouring.
A large cluster of pillars grows in the flat sky in the garden of withered lotus and yellow grass, and the pillars give birth to beams, and the beams will support the granary floor.
Of the more than 60 million stones of grain and straw, one stone is 0.02 cubic meters, which is equivalent to 1.3 million cubic meters. Assuming that the height of the grain pile is 6.5, it will occupy a floor area of 200,000 square meters. One stone weighs 13.5 kilograms, which is equivalent to 870,000 tons. Previously, Dasima Mansion had wanted to build a granary with wood, but considering that the total weight of grain and straw was more than 600,000 tons (estimated in advance), it was finally changed to concrete.
Another way was to pile the grain on the temporarily dry grass, this proposal was quickly rejected, there are tidal flats between the grassland and the water, with Chen Ying's experience in supply, the tidal flats make it difficult for the boat to dock, and it is very troublesome to transport in and out. Then there is the grain itself, there is rain and snow in autumn and winter, and the water level rises again in spring and summer, and there is no way to transport all the grain before the arrival of spring, and as a result, most of the grain will be soaked in water, and it is estimated that less than half of it can be transported back to Chu.
The first plan was to build a 1,000-metre-long and 200-metre-wide (200,000-square-meter) dry-slab concrete building. The amount of work seems huge, but this building does not need to be built in a day, and the construction can be poured according to the speed of grain transportation, and it can be expanded little by little. Suppose that 1.8 million stones, or 36,000 cubic meters, are transported every day, and at a height of 6.5 meters, it covers an area of 5,538 square meters, which is just a 75-meter by 75-meter floor.
According to the Concrete Administration, 130 kilograms of concrete are required to pour one square metre of floor space, and 720 tonnes of concrete are required to pour 5,538 square metres of floor area (excluding beams and columns, which consume less than 1% of concrete). Concrete contains sand, gravel, water, and cement, and is less than 20% by weight than cement, and even if it is 20%, the daily consumption of cement is only more than 140 tons.
The consumption of huge reinforcement is less than that of cement, and it takes 130 kilograms of concrete to pour one square meter, and the consumption of huge reinforcement is only 10 kilograms, and 5,538 square meters is only 55 tons. Sand, gravel from the Yellow River, and the banks of the rivers can be dug up, and it is not troublesome.
The real difficulty lies in the transport tonnage and cement consumption.
The daily transportation of 1.8 million stone is 24,300 tons, which is the amount of two transportation times during the day and night, and the real transportation tonnage is only more than 12,000 tons. Concrete pouring requires 2,000 tons of tonnage, minus these 2,000 tons, and only 10,000 tons of grain tonnage remains.
Cement and tendons have to be transported from Yingdu, which is 1,000 miles away, and although the two add up to only 200 tons, it takes 10 days to travel 2,000 miles back and forth day and night. That is to say, another 2,000 tons will be wasted between Nursery and Yingdu. The actual tonnage of grain transported was only a little more than 8,000 tons, and the two times of day and night transportation were more than 16,000 tons, or 1.2 million stones.
The transportation tonnage may be solved by borrowing the boats of Qi and Zhao, and the cement is insufficient, and Qi and Zhao will not be able to help. A kilometer-long, 200-meter-wide, and 200,000-square-meter dry-column building requires 26,000 tons of concrete, and the width of these concrete requires 5,200 tons of cement.
After the construction of the concrete granary was decided, the government immediately expanded the cement plant on a large scale, with a planned daily output of 50 tons, and a capacity of 4,500 tons of cement in three months, plus the existing 700 tons of cement in hand, just 5,200 tons. But now the cement plant has only expanded by five, and the daily output of cement does not exceed 30 tons.
The final plan is to pour the floor in the tidal flat and below the water surface, and not to pour the place above the water surface throughout the year, so that not only the workload is saved, but the cement consumption is also saved, and the current cement production capacity can barely be reached.
