The adsorption capacity of activated carbon is determined by the surface area of the carbon, and the larger the surface area, the stronger the adsorption capacity. The surface area is divided into an outer surface and an inner surface, the material of activated carbon determines its outer surface, and the inner surface can be expanded with an oxidant. As a kind of double salt, alum is a very good oxidant at high temperature, while removing the colloidal organic matter that hinders adsorption on the surface of activated carbon, potassium ions have a strong perforation effect, which can penetrate into the carbon body and then crack it.
Gao Yi put the alum and coconut shell crumbs in a ratio of one to five, put them in a jar and burn them at a temperature of 800 degrees. A small hole is reserved on the lid of the tank mouth when burning, at first there will be a large amount of water vapor gushing out, about three or four hours there is a combustible gas generated, producing a yellow-red flame, and after the combustible gas is burned, the tank is all sealed, and continue to burn for four to five hours. In the adsorption process, almost all the active ingredients can be adsorbed out, instead of emptying with the waste liquid, so the yield is greatly improved.
