Chapter 8: Never Returned
The steam train slowly drove away from the platform of the nine-and-three-quarter station with a beep whistle, and Karl sat alone in the box of the Hogwarts Express, quietly reading a book.
As soon as he got on the train, he changed into a wizard's robe, so as not to have to change again when he got to the station.
As they parted, Nick and Louis pulled him to talk for a while, and in the end, Louis couldn't help crying, and even Nick's eyes were a little moist.
Carl waved goodbye to the two of them, and one of them boarded the Hogwarts Express.
This box was the one he had managed to find, it was empty, and it was just right for him to read quietly.
To be honest, Carl didn't work as hard as he does now in his senior year of high school in his previous life. For Carl, the world of magic was too magical and fascinating for him.
Suddenly, the door to the box was opened, and two almost identical-looking heads poked in.
It turned out to be George and Fred.
"Hey, man, we've been looking for you for a long time, and I didn't expect you to sit so far away, it's the last carriage!" complained George.
No one else could, but Carl could easily tell the difference between the twins, even if they had only met them once.
"Our parents asked us to help you more. Fred said.
Then, next to him, George said in Mrs. Weasley's tone, "Oh, poor Carl, how lonely it is to be alone at Hogwarts without friends." โ
With that, the twins smiled and waited to see Karl's embarrassed expression.
But they were doomed to disappointment.
Karl finally looked up at them. But he just shrugged his shoulders and continued to look down at the book in his hand.
"I said, what are you looking at? "So fascinated?" asked George and Fred as they looked at each other.
Carl held the book up and shook it at them.
- Standard Spell, Elementary.
"Oh my gosh. The twins said in unison, rolling their eyes in unison.
Then, the two brothers resolutely slipped away.
Reluctantly standing up, Carl closed the open box door again, and then sat back in his seat, changed to a more comfortable position, and looked at the book again.
This time, he locked the door.
After flipping through the book from beginning to end, Carl looked at the cover of the Standard Spell Elementary, which he had memorized.
"Standard Spells: Elementary" is a pretty thick book, but there are only a few magic mentioned on it, and the rest is a lot of related theoretical knowledge.
Real magic is not as simple as Carl imagined, it is not a simple wave of a wand to recite the spell, there are many theories related to it.
Just like the chemistry experiments and physics experiments in middle and high school, a simple experiment involves much more complex theoretical knowledge.
At the same time, the book also covers a lot of things at the level of magic use and the effect of mutual restraint, and the same magic is like two magic in the hands of a master and a beginner.
It's not uncommon in the wizarding world to eat all over the world with one trick, and many wizards can travel all over the world with just one or a few spells.
Like Harry Potter in the later years, a master of disarming spellsโnot derogatory.
For this point, Carl has a deep understanding that in his past life, a simple theorem can be played with in the hands of the teacher.
Therefore, without the teacher's explanation, Carl can only toddle out the energy of the school year and gnaw it little by little.
Of course, it's much easier to just get it right, but Carl isn't so short-sighted.
Fortunately, the textbook in the first grade is not too difficult, and the magic theory involved is not too advanced, although it cannot be done in one step, but it is not difficult to learn.
Seeing that there was no one around, Carl put away the Standard Spell Elementary, and pulled out a book with a black cover from the bottom of the box.
This is what Carl found in Tumbledown Alley, and in order to convince Nick and Louise to let him into Tumbledown Alley, he took a lot of effort - selling cuteness, which was the trick he was most reluctant to use, but after many attempts to no avail, he had to use it, and the effect was surprisingly good, and Nick and Louise's hearts melted.
The Rise and Fall of the Dark Arts
This book was one of the two additional copies he had bought at the Blotstag, only to find out later that the Blotst was selling a cut version that only introduced the history of the dark arts.
And the book in Carl's hand briefly introduces some theoretical knowledge of black magic.
Carl quickly flipped the book to where he had read it before, intending to continue reading, but before he could read a few pages, he was interrupted again.
There was a knock on the glass, and Carl had to put the book away before looking up to see a beautiful Asian girl standing outside the box looking at him.
Carl opened the door and looked at the girl.
This is Cho Chang's first year at Hogwarts, but she's almost late, as her father and mother get stuck in traffic on the way to see her off.
She only got in the car a few minutes before the drive. But the first few carriages were already full, and she could only keep walking back, until the last carriage finally appeared empty.
Akimoto wanted to find a random box to sit in, but she suddenly saw a handsome boy sitting alone in the box.
She couldn't help but look at it a few more times, and suddenly noticed that the boy was a little familiar, so she knocked on the door.
"Can I come in and sit? The rest of the place is full. "The girl's voice is very good.
Carl gestured to the girl and sat back down to continue reading.
Qiu quietly looked at Carl flipping through the book, the eleven-year-old girl had not yet reached the age of having a relationship between men and women, she just felt that the black eyes of the handsome boy in front of her were really good-looking.
Therefore, she involuntarily spoke, "Well, we seem to have met before, in Gringotts. โ
"Oh. Carl nodded. If you think about it, he did have a relationship with the girl at Gringotts, and when the family left Gringotts, he happened to pass by the Cho Chang family.
"My name is Qiu Zhang, but you can also call me Zhang Qiu. Cho said that she was a little smug because usually when she said that, someone would come and ask why.
"Hello," Carl said, just nodding his head without looking up, "my name is Carl, Carl Cooper." โ
This perfunctory attitude makes Autumn a little angry, but the childlike nature makes her a little curious about the book in Carl's hand.
"What are you looking at?" she asked.
As usual, Karl lit up Standard Spells: Elementary, and the book "The Rise and Fall of the Dark Arts" was hidden behind it.
Qiu couldn't help but pout her lips in boredom, but she still insisted on asking, "Are you from a wizard family?"
"No, my parents are Muggles. Karl shook his head, his eyes never taking off the book in his hand.
"That's right!" Carl suddenly became interested and raised his head suddenly, "You're Chinese, right?"
Autumn nodded subconsciously.
"Then do you know anything about Chinese wizards?"
Qiu smiled embarrassedly, "My parents have been in the UK for a long time, I grew up in the UK, and I have never been to China." โ
"Oh. Carlton had no desire to talk.
As a result, the entire box fell into an unspeakable silence.
After a while, Cho finally couldn't take it anymore and suddenly stood up, "That, I'll go out for a while." โ
After that, without waiting for Karl to respond, he walked out of the box directly and closed the door hard.
Cho had never seen someone as boring as Carl.
It's a shame that he's so good-looking!" Qiu thought angrily.
Then, she never came back.
