Chapter 13: Catherine. Parr's Marriage
Edward stayed up all night, and then told Lucy not to disturb him, he should make up for sleep, because he felt that his body was still quite weak, and he couldn't hurt himself too much for the sake of his little brother.
Lucy also fulfilled her responsibilities well, lost her usual naughtiness, and began to serve Edward to undress.
When Edward was lying on the bed, he could no longer bear the fatigue of his body, and slowly closed his eyes.
Lucy helped Edward cover the goose down quilt and closed the door softly, Lucy knew that Edward couldn't make a sound before going to bed, otherwise he wouldn't be able to sleep.
I don't know how long it took for Edward to feel a sore neck, a dull brain, and a thirst in his mouth. I can only get up in a daze.
"Lucy! Lucy! Pour me a glass of water. The first thing Edward did when he woke up was to call Lucy to pour water.
And Lucy did not disappoint Edward, and after a while, there was a sound of footsteps, and Lucy held a glass of warm water to Edward's mouth, and Edward gulped it down.
After drinking a large glass of water, Edward breathed a sigh of relief, burped, and the whole person was happy, and the fatigue of staying up late was gone.
"Your Majesty! You don't want to stay up late if you know you're not in good health, you don't know how worried we are about you! Lucy said with concern as she helped Edward get dressed.
Edward knew that his physical condition was not good, and he was also at a loss, so he was not good at arguing, so he had to helplessly raise his hands to make a surrender form.
"That's it! I surrender, Sister Lucy said everything to me, I try not to stay up late in the future! β
"Huh!" Lucy was amused by Edward's lazy appearance, "Your Majesty, Princess Mary, Princess Elizabeth, and Queen Catherine all came to see you while you were asleep!" β
"What? The sisters and the queen mother are here! "Well, and the Duke of Somerset has sent someone to greet you! and Archbishop Cranmer, Lord Count Walkley...... Send someone to greet you about your condition. β
Edward didn't expect that he would attract almost everyone's attention after a single sleep.
Edward had not yet adapted to his status, and even though he had no rights at the moment, he was now representing England and Wales, as well as Ireland, and his every move was noticeable.
Just now, after hearing Edward wake up, the sixteen regent commissioners outside Windsor Castle breathed a sigh of relief.
Because if anything happens to Edward, it will be Princess Mary who will ascend the throne, and there will be no need for the Regency Council to exist, and they will no longer take over the throne.
Before Edward could catch his breath, he saw a gust of wind blow in, and a figure hugged him tightly, so that Edward could not speak.
Needless to say, Edward knew that it was Elizabeth, and the helpless Edward could only prompt Lucy with his eyes.
Seeing this, Lucy immediately understood and said to Elizabeth: "Your Royal Highness, please let go of His Majesty the King, he is almost out of breath!" β
Lucy's hint was effective, and Elizabeth let go of Edward with a red face.
Edward took the opportunity to take a big breath of fresh air, and Elizabeth lowered her head even more when she saw this.
"Isha! Don't be so reckless in the future, you have to look like a princess! Edward took this opportunity to lecture Princess Elizabeth, and Elizabeth was embarrassed to bow her head and not say a word.
Edward was satisfied with Elizabeth's obedience, and he couldn't help but be proud. But it didn't take long for Elizabeth to return to her original self.
"Hey! Edward, you've taught your sister a lesson, do you know in moderation? "Yes! Be! I understand, I understand! Faced with Elizabeth, who had regained his combat effectiveness, Edward could only back down.
Edward's concession obviously worked, and Elizabeth glanced at Edward arrogantly, looking particularly cute. After seeing that Edward was okay, he turned around, shook his beautiful long blond hair, and jumped out of the bedroom door in his moccasin boots.
"Oh! I almost forgot that when you woke up, Catherine said she had something to discuss with you! As Elizabeth was about to disappear, she suddenly dropped a sentence that puzzled Edward.
Edward didn't have that much to do first, and the top priority was to fill his stomach.
Half an hour later, Edward took his little maid Lucy to Queen Catherine's bedchamber.
Along the way, Edward pondered Queen Catherine's life and wondered what she was doing with her!
In 1529, at the age of 17, Catherine married Edward Beau, Baron of Borough II of Gainesborough. Edward died in the spring of 1532. Catherine Parr married Baron Latimer III John Neville of Snape in 1534. In 1536, Catherine and her two stepchildren were taken hostage by northern rebels during the Pilgrimage of Grace. John Neville died in 1543.
In the home of Princess Mary (later Mary I), daughter of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon, Catherine Parr attracted the attention of the king. After the death of her second husband, the wealthy widow developed a romance with Thomas Seymour, Baron Seymour I of Hudley, the brother of Queen Jane Seymour.
But the king liked her very much, and she had to accept the king's affection.
According to historical words, it was not her with Edward's cheap second uncle Thomas. Seymour's old love has been rekindled, well! Definitely!
Edward and Lucy arrived together at Whitehall Palace, "Knock knock! Lucy stepped forward and knocked on the door.
Soon a graceful maid came out and led Edward into the dormitory, and suddenly a sense of wealth and grandeur came to his face, which made Edward very unaccustomed.
Because Edward felt that he was already the king of England, Wales, and Ireland, and his status was not good, and no matter how good the decoration was, he could not go further. On the contrary, the minimalist dΓ©cor is even more forceful.
In fact, Edward's idea was wrong at this time. During the reign of Henry VIII, a French envoy visited England, and Henry VIII received the envoy in gold and silver because of the wealth of the Reformation.
As a result, when the envoy returned to France, he praised England as a civilized country and a civilized country. Yes, the former countries of continental Europe have always considered England to be a barbarian state, uncivilized.
It can be seen from this that the level of worship of money reached by people at that time.
Edward could not control her, for the queen was free to use her dowry as she pleased.
With respect, Edward met Queen Catherine, and the little maid Lucy had stayed outside the door.
The queen's face is particularly delicate, different from the roughness of Westerners, and her figure is not out of shape, and with a hint of luxury, it is no wonder that Edward's cheap second uncle still likes her.
I saw that she wanted to speak and stopped, and after a while, she seemed to have made up her mind, and said with a little shyness: "Edward! I decided to marry your uncle Thomas. Seymour is up! β
