106. Admitted to Whampoa
It is noted here that the Whampoa Military Academy was originally an army officer school run in Huangpu, Guangzhou, in the thirteenth year of the Republic of China (1924), called the "Whampoa Military Academy", and in the sixteenth year of the Republic of China (1927), the Whampoa Military Academy was moved to Nanjing.
In the fifteenth year of the Republic of China (1926), the Whampoa Military Academy was renamed the "Central Military and Political School", and in the sixteenth year of the Republic of China (1927), the Whampoa Military Academy in Nanjing was renamed the "Central Army Military Academy".
Due to the gradual increase in the influence of the Whampoa Military Academy and the opening of branch schools all over the country, the Whampoa Military Academy in Nanjing is also called the "Nanjing Headquarters of the Whampoa Military Academy".
The Whampoa Military Academy has very strict application conditions for ordinary people, and the age is between 18 and 24 years old; Second, they must have a high school graduation or an education equivalent to a high school graduation (in those days, there were very few people with a high level of Chinese).
Third, the physical fitness must be healthy, free of major diseases, infectious diseases, and meet certain length and weight standards; Among them, the height must be at least 160cm, and the weight cannot exceed 25% of the standard weight (standard weight kg = height cm-110) and not less than 15% of the standard weight.
Fourth, it is required to be a member of the Kuomintang (Kuomintang), or a person who can understand the necessity of the rapid completion of the national revolution, or who has the possibility of accepting the party's doctrine, who does not contradict the party's ideology, and who has been introduced by a member of the party.
Sangou and Xiucai were just ordinary people a month ago, and they were definitely not party members, and they were still ignorant about these things, so for non-party members in the army, each party member was introduced by two party members before they could apply for the Whampoa Military Academy.
The admissions examination is divided into two levels: preliminary examination and re-examination; The preliminary examination will be conducted in each province first, and after passing the preliminary examination, the school will go to Nanjing for re-examination. Sangou they took the first test in the army (similar to the army escort), and the second test had to go to the Nanjing headquarters for the test.
In fact, in terms of time, the enrollment of the new phase of the Nanjing Army Military Academy has long ended, and now it is early September, and the school has already started.
However, in recent years, Nanjing Huangpu Military Academy has recruited some in-service officers (or unemployed officers) every year; In addition to the transfer students of in-service officers, a small number of officers will also be recruited for short-term training, and the duration of the short-term training course for officers is half a year, but the vast majority of the trainees are enrolled in ordinary classes with a duration of three years.
At that time, several thousand people were sent to take the examination by various units across the country every year, but not many of them were admitted, and if we added the number of people in the short training course for officers, it would be a little more.
In-service officer transfer students must be transferred before entering the school every year, and if it is too late and misses the division of subject exams, most of them can only wait for the next year.
The first brigade of the supplementary brigade of the unit where Sangou belongs, and the brigade commander Wang Yaozu himself is an old Whampoa in Guangzhou, who was born in the third phase, and Zhang Zhizhong, the current education chief of the Nanjing headquarters, is an old acquaintance.
Ten years ago, when Brigade Commander Wang entered the third phase of Huangpu to study, Zhang Education Chief was the captain of the enlisted students in the third phase of Huangpu.
Although the principal of Nanjing Huangpu is still concurrently served by the chairman of the committee, the chief of education is responsible for specific affairs, so after Brigade Commander Wang and Education Chief Zhang contacted him, Sangou Xiucai and his group of more than 20 people, under the leadership of the adjutant of the brigade headquarters, took a car to the headquarters of the Nanjing Military Academy to accept the re-examination of the personnel recommended by the military academy for various units.
This supplementary first brigade was created at the beginning of this year and is composed of three infantry regiments trained by the Baoding Formation and Training Office, and the soldiers and junior officers of these three regiments are all from the north (Zhiluyu), and most of them are former subordinates of the Northwest Army, and they are forced to serve as soldiers because of their lives.
The brigade commander of this brigade finally found a Shandong Wang Yaozu to be the commander, and the brigade commander Wang was originally the regiment commander under the 32nd Jiangxi Independent Brigade, so he brought a group of Jiangxi subordinate officers to join the supplementary first brigade.
Most of these middle- and lower-ranking officers are from military schools, so they are familiar with the entrance exams of military schools; The army attaches great importance to the preparation of the three dogs and their batch of candidates, and before going to Nanjing for the examination, they all gather together, and let those officers who have graduated from the military academy take turns to tutor everyone and teach everyone how to take the exam and how to study.
But what I didn't expect was that when dozens of them arrived at the headquarters of the Nanjing Military Academy for the re-examination, the pre-exam study was still very right.
The re-examination mainly tests the party righteousness (political knowledge such as the Three People's Principles), Chinese language, arithmetic (mathematics), etc., as well as foreign languages, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, Chinese and foreign history and other high school course content.
Although everyone is cramming before the exam, natural subjects such as mathematics, physics and chemistry must be learned gradually in chronological order, and foreign languages cannot be completed quickly.
The written test is followed by an interview, which is mainly to test language expression, understanding of the military academy, patriotism, love for the nation, and knowledge of the Three People's Principles. In the context of that era, these were no problem for an ordinary reader.
When the final results came out, only three people in Kankan, including Sangou, were admitted, and it happened that one person from each of the three regiments of the supplementary first brigade was admitted.
Xiucai didn't go to high school, so naturally he couldn't take the test, and as soon as the exam was over, the results didn't come out, and Xiucai knew that he was out of play, and he was very depressed.
After the final results came out, Xiucai was determined to be unsuccessful, because of the psychological expectations in advance, it was easier to accept, and at the same time, seeing that Sangou was admitted, he was also happy for Sangou.
As for the physical examination after admission, most of them are passing; Sangou got his wish, and while he was happy, he also felt sorry for Xiucai, but when Xiucai went back, he must have also entered the cadre training department of the brigade for training, and he came out as an officer.
Originally, when they left the Shangrao barracks, the brothers said goodbye to both of them very solemnly, thinking that they would stay in Nanjing.
Now, Xiucai has to go back, and he can't wait to find a hole to get into, but after Sangou persuaded him for a long time, he calmed down a little and went back with other unsuccessful comrades.
After sending Xiucai away, Sangou immediately repaired a book, handed it over to the school (private individuals are not allowed to go out or send letters), and sent it home. That is the letter that Sigou received at school later.
But this is a letter sent in early October, how can it wait until the end of February of the following year to receive it, and it took nearly four months to travel halfway.
It can only be said that the postal service of that year was very backward, a letter on the road casually walked for a month, plus the end of the 23rd year of the Republic of China (1934), Sangou's hometown of Jiangxi, has been in turmoil, war disasters repeatedly, this letter on the road is even more stop-and-go.
It is estimated that by the time the Four Dogs School arrived, it was already the winter vacation, so on the first day of the Four Dogs' school, I received a letter of safety from the Three Dogs from Nanjing in October last year.
That is, the creation makes people, and time also makes people, Sangou was miserably tricked by time, he was considered dead, and Mingyue was also married, such a tragic thing, the party Sangou didn't know yet.
It's just that I've been waiting for a reply from home, and I haven't waited until the end of the year.
Afraid that the letter would be lost, Sangou wrote a second letter, retold the content of the first letter, and asked why he hadn't replied for so long?
It is also roughly said that the enlisted students of the military academy cannot go home in the first year, and during the winter vacation this year, they have to observe the military exercises of the seniors in the last few sessions, so all the students are not allowed to visit their relatives and go home.
As a result, since the letter was written above and did not pass the school's examination (it is a military secret), it was called back and rewritten, and this paragraph was deleted before it was allowed to be sent.
