Chapter 45: The Science of Torture
During the operation at the Barranquilla Pier, Ben Ali still struck the trigger at the moment when he was contained, and the bullet pierced the head of one of the secret service officers who pressed on him, killing one of the CIA agents instantly.
Fearing that the Medellín Syndicate would come to the rescue after learning the news, he succeeded in subduing Ben Ali. A helicopter immediately landed near the Barranquilla pier and quickly escorted Ben Ali to a ship moored off the coast of Colombia.
Along the way, Ben Ali's mouth was gagged to prevent him from committing suicide. His head was covered with a black hood. Hands and feet were chained together by cold shackles. The two civilian special services stood up to him inch by inch.
I don't know how long it took for Ben Ali to feel the helicopter begin to descend, and the sound of the sea could be heard in his ears. After the plane landed, Ben Ali was helped out of the helicopter. The hood on his head was never removed, but he was forced off the plane. He had gone as far as he had been thrown into a cold chair, and then someone had taken off his hood for him, and Ben Ali suddenly felt a blinding light source in front of him, making him unable to see anything.
"Who are you? Why are you arresting me? I'm just a regular tourist! Ben Ali subconsciously argued.
"Tourists, do tourists bring guns? You've also killed one of our men! A voice came from behind the light source, it was machine-processed, and it was very low, and it sounded chest-tight.
"Are you police officers? I thought someone was trying to hurt me, so I fought back, and I ......."
"Okay, stop quibbling, we know very well who you are, you'd better be honest when you come here, and say your name now!"
Ben Ali sat there silently, holding his hand in front of him to make his eyes more comfortable, and at that moment someone standing behind him pressed something against his back, and then the powerful electricity made the muscles on Ben Ali's back shrink together, and he howled in pain, and the current almost made the muscles tense and about to break.
"Ah~~~!"
It took about five minutes before the back stopped. These extortors are torture experts who have worked with them for many years, and they know how to interrogate them. Know how much pain can be used to make people, and how much harm this pain can do to the human body, and whether it will be life-threatening.
The residual electricity kept the muscles in Ben Ali's back twitching, and this level of pain wasn't enough to bring Ben Ali to succumb. But it angered him.
"You...... Yes~~! Before Ben Ali could finish his sentence, he was shocked again. As soon as the shock stopped, Ben Ali continued to curse. After repeating this a dozen times, Ben Ali no longer had the strength to speak, and his voice was no longer sound because of howling and shouting curses. His breathing had become irregular, and even his consciousness was already a little blurry.
The guy who had been torturing him behind Ben Ali walked out, and a moment later he called in a doctor in a white coat. The doctor snapped Ben Ali's eyelids to check the pupil's reaction to the light source, touched his carotid artery again, and shook his head at his companions.
"It's okay, today is just a greeting gift, we have time to knock this guy in the mouth!"
The torturer, who had been standing behind the bright light source, turned off the lights and asked his men to take Ben Ali out. Ben Ali, though he was a little unconscious from the torture, heard the last words. Ben Ali, the other person who just came in, was also clear. The guy was obviously here to see if he could continue to be tortured. Ben Ali vaguely felt himself being lifted from the ground.
Ben Ali was dragged by two strong men, who he thought he would be taken into a cell. But what he never expected was that he was locked in an extremely low room, with the iron shackles on his hands hanging above his head, but this space could not stand up straight at all, because the height of the room was only about a little more than a meter. Ben Ali was either standing bent over or squatting with his hands hanged. Not even the right to lie down.
This painful posture made Ben Ali's body extremely tired. He has now realized that these people are not police officers, nor are they members of the Colombian government army. These people are supposed to be American intelligence organizations, and the police and military do not have such professional methods of torture. They were tortured in a way that Ben Ali had never experienced.
Ben Ali's guess was right. The ship is a secret C.I.A. base used to extract confessions. The staff here are all torture experts within the C.I.A., and the reason why they are based on a ship is because it is on the high seas, so they don't have to worry about being noticed by the media in the United States, and even the ship is not registered in the United States. This is another big plus, because the maximum sentence for unlawful detention is less than three years, and criminal offenses of less than three years abroad can be exempted by the US judiciary (which is why Guantanamo is so dark). Even if something happens in the future, no one here will be criminally punished.
The crew on this ship are strictly selected CIA torture experts, some of whom are doctors, some are psychologists, and of course, there are technicians and intelligence analysts who have been specially transferred from the country. There are also some special talents who are engaged in the study of human physiology. If you think that coercing confessions is just hanging up prisoners and beating them, then you are being too simple. The experts here can tell you that coerced confessions is actually a systematic science. And simple acts of violence do not bring to the knees of specially trained enemy intelligence officers.
The CIA's research on torture is definitely the best in the world, because they have at their disposal valuable experimental data from Japan - experimental data from Unit 731. After the end of World War II, the CIA even exempted the Far East Military Tribunal from its responsibility for the war against Unit 731 in order to obtain these data, and even hired them as senior advisers to the CIA. These data have accurate data on various human experiments on Slavic and East Asian races. And these three countries were all major problems for the United States during the Cold War.
The kind of coercing used by the police and the army is unlikely to convince a determined KGB or Cuban agent of his faith, because these intelligence agents have already been subjected to far more rigorous tests, and even some female intelligence agents have been subjected to sexual tests. In order for such people to tell the secrets buried in their hearts, they must use more scientific methods. And this ship brings together the most expert torture team in the CIA.
