Chapter 60: Shooting Group
Chapter 60: The 'Shooting' Team
Chapter 60: The 'Shooting' Team
The training of the troops began early the next morning, and during this time our task was actually to eliminate the Vietnamese army agents, so there seemed to be no conflict between the training and the troops' actions at this time, because we could have driven the troops out in the name of clearing and suppressing the Vietnamese army agents, but in fact it was the actual combat exercises of the troops.
In addition, there are really some mines and bamboo sticks left by the Vietnamese army on those high grounds, and no one even dares to guarantee whether there are Vietnamese agents hidden in those 'chaotic' stone piles, so the soldiers' drills are surprisingly serious, as if they are really on the battlefield. If you are not careful, you will break your arm, break your 'leg' or even lose your life, and no one dares to joke with your own life.
Because of the limited time, the subjects of training are the offense and defense that are most commonly used on the battlefield. Of course, the offensive is no longer a group attack as before, but a 'crossing' attack that covers each other under the observation and cooperation of snipers. For this, the soldiers are still very easy to accept, after all, everyone has fought for a few days, and everyone knows that once a fight starts, if they all rush forward in groups at one end of the gun as before, it seems that it will not play any role except for attracting pieces of bullets from the Vietnamese army.
And it doesn't seem to be very difficult to do such a 'handover' to cover each other, plus every two fighters are accompanied by a soldier from the fifth company, so in less than half a day, the soldiers have already learned well. It's just that the cooperation between each other is still a little worse, and for the time being, there is no way to do it like the Fifth Company, even if no one is commanding, it can spontaneously do "you have me, I have you".
In fact, the main difficulty of this tactic is not the formation of formation, the skills of finding cover, and so on, but the intimate cooperation between various groups and even companies; only with good coordination can each group and each company give full play to the advantages of weapons with different 'firing' ranges, and can they give full play to their combat effectiveness as much as possible as a whole. Although the soldiers of the Fourth and Sixth Companies have achieved similar shapes in a short period of training, they have not yet mastered its 'essence'. However, I believe that with a little more time, they will soon become proficient in using this tactical offensive and make a difference on the battlefield.
As for the defense, this point is not much different from the original tactics of the warriors, after all, no matter what kind of defense is to seize the advantageous terrain and then build fortifications. But...... Among them, I still taught the soldiers the "anti-slope" tactics and "refueling tactics" used by the volunteers, and asked all the soldiers to conduct actual combat drills in accordance with these two defensive tactics.
In fact, I also know that now is our army's all-out attack on the Vietnamese army, coupled with the lack of preparation and lack of troops, our army will rarely enter a defensive state, and the soldiers will have very few opportunities to use these two tactics. However, although these two tactics were first used by us Chinese and brought them into full play, they have now been learned by the Vietnamese and used against our army. Rather, it is our army...... But for various reasons, many fighters and even commanders are unaware of the existence of these two tactics......
Therefore, I think it is very necessary for the soldiers, especially the grassroots commanders, to know how these two tactics work and how to defend through actual combat exercises. Only in this way will the grassroots commanders know how to deal with the Vietnamese army that uses these two tactics to fight against our army when they encounter an unexpected situation.
Of course, I don't have to do these things myself.
As for the organization of the attack, the fighters of the fifth company are already familiar with the road. Li Zhifu, the commander of the fifth company, and Xu Yongjian, the commander of the fourth company, trained the fourth company together, and the sixth company went without saying...... As the commander of the Sixth Company and a native of his hometown with a lot of training experience, he will naturally put his soldiers to death, and the fact has proved that the transformation speed of the Sixth Company is much faster than that of the Fourth Company, and it is stronger than the Fourth Company in terms of cooperation with the attack and the coordination of weapons.
As for the defensive "anti-slope tactics" and "refueling tactics", these are not even the fifth company, but the soldiers have fought with the Vietnamese army, and we have laid a certain position to explore a certain position, etc., there are prototype positions of these tactics left by the Vietnamese army. I only need to take the soldiers to walk around these positions, and then explain the troop dispatch of the Vietnamese army against the positions and tunnels, and the soldiers will quickly understand. Then let the soldiers find a few high ground and build a few "anticline positions" with their own hands, and experience the magic of "refueling tactics" for themselves.
Of course, it's not like I don't have to do anything. In fact, I'm busier than anyone else, because it's in front of me at this time...... There were more than a dozen members of the 'shooting' team standing. These members are all soldiers who have been selected by the 'elite' of each company and have better overall qualities in marksmanship, psychological quality, and other aspects. Each company selected five people, a total of fifteen, including Li Shui'bo, of course.
"Comrades" looked at the team in front of me, and the cold-gun unit during the period of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea suddenly appeared in my mind. Although I know that they are not comparable to the Cold Gun Troops in terms of equipment, marksmanship, and quality, the pride and confidence in their eyes are no different from the soldiers of the Cold Gun Troops.
The "comrades" hesitated for a while, and then I said to the members of the 'shooting' group in front of me: "You have all fought in battles, and you have all heard of the Vietnamese army's 'snipers' to a greater or lesser extent, and some comrades have even seen their strength and even watched their comrades-in-arms fall under their guns. Do you remember what it was like to watch your comrades fall in front of you? ”
"Remember," the warriors replied in unison.
Although it was only a few days of fighting, it was inevitable that every warrior would have experienced such a thing. The feeling of being talking to himself just now, dying by his side in the blink of an eye, and never being able to 'talk' to himself again, is especially shocking for recruits who have never experienced life and death before and have never experienced the battlefield. It's just that during this time, all the people were on the battlefield of life and death, and they didn't have much time to think about these issues, so they didn't show it. At this moment, as soon as I mentioned it, everyone had a look of nostalgia for their comrades-in-arms and hatred for the enemy.
I glanced coldly at the soldiers, and then shouted at them viciously: "What are you doing when your comrades are shot by Vietnamese snipers and lying in pools of blood and screaming, when they are waiting to die in front of you, when they are asking you for help?" ”
As soon as I roared, the warriors were silent. I'm a sniper myself, and I've done the work of borrowing reinforcements from the wounded, so I know exactly what that was going on. Just like when the squad leader Wu of the Fifth Company died, all those who impulsively ran up to rescue fell under the enemy's guns, and they could still stand here alive, needless to say...... None of them rushed up.
Of course, I don't mean to scold them for not rushing forward, not to scold them for shrinking their heads, and in fact I don't think that the senseless sacrifice is worth it. This is also the reason why Squad Leader Wu died alive in front of us, but I ordered that no one of the soldiers should come forward to help.
"You and you......" I unceremoniously pushed them one after another, my tone full of contempt, and shouted at them, "What were you all doing? Answer me"
The warriors all bowed their heads, even Li Shui'bo. I know that Li Shui' Bo is thinking of the Wu squad leader who sacrificed in front of him.
"What are you doing? Answer me," I shouted at them almost hoarsely.
"Report to the battalion commander" Finally, one of the fighters stepped forward and replied, "We didn't do anything"
"Nothing, nothing......" I repeated several times, louder than the last. Finally, he asked, "Why?" ”
"Report to the battalion commander" Another soldier stood up and replied: "Because the guns of the Yue devils are better than ours, and their rifles have a longer range than ours."
"Is there anyone else who thinks the same way he does?" I asked coldly.
"Report that I think so too" Another fighter stepped forward: "The rifles used by the Yue devils are scoped, and they are quite cunning, they are always hiding outside our 'firing' range......"
"Is there anyone else?" I asked again.
No one spoke anymore, but no one knew what kind of 'medicine' I was selling in my gourd.
"Very well," I nodded, and said to the two fighters, "You can go back to your company."
"Battalion Commander...... "The two soldiers didn't know what they had done wrong, and they forgot about me in confusion. In fact, it was not only the two of them, but the other fighters were also a little inexplicable.
"Want to know why?" I replied firmly: "What you say is true, but there are never so many reasons on the battlefield, there are only victory and defeat, only life and death on the battlefield. Why don't you want to think about what kind of weapons we used when we faced Little Japan, what kind of weapons we used when we faced the Kuomintang, and what kind of weapons we used when we faced the Yankees?"
Looking at the speechless soldiers, I continued: "The weapons in your hands are indeed not as good as the Yue devils, but you still have semi-automatic rifles and submachine guns, why don't you want to think about it, our ancestors still used bolt rifles to defeat little Japan with only three bullets per shot, our ancestors were able to defeat the Kuomintang only by capturing the enemy's weapons, and our fathers were able to defeat the Yankees' aircraft artillery with only 38 Dagai and Mosin Nagant, but what about you?" When you die under the guns of the Yue devils, can you still complain that your weapons are inferior to the enemy, and can you blame the rifle for not having a long range as the Vietnamese army? ”
"No," replied the warriors.
The two warriors' faces changed, and after a moment of hesitation, they finally saluted me and left the group. As a result, there were only thirteen people left in the 'shooting' strike group without a few words.
Actually, I didn't want to do this, but I had to do it, because I didn't want the soldiers to always think that the weapons in their hands were inferior to the Vietnamese army, and they would be a little shorter before they could start the soldiers. I want them to understand that this is the way we are equipped now, and we have to accept this fact and find a way to defeat the enemy with this equipment that has become a fact.
After seeing the two soldiers reluctantly leave, I raised the rifle in my hand and said: "Look at the gun in my hand, and then look at the gun in the hand of Li Shui'bo, a soldier of the Fifth Company, this kind of gun is not available in our army, this is the rifle used by Vietnamese snipers, where did we come from?" We used 56 and a half to snatch from the Yue devils, we can get this rifle, why can't you? Because we ...... Didn't do anything like you guys, we just used 56 and a half snipers to kill the devils"
I raised my rifle in my hand and took a few steps back and forth in front of the warriors so that each of them could see clearly. Then he shouted at them, "Now...... Tell me the next time you run into a sniper from the devil, will you still do nothing? ”
"No," the warriors replied in a loud voice.
"What are you going to do?" I asked again.
"Kill them, kill them"
"Took their guns with 56 and a half"
……
The fighters raised their rifles and shouted again and again, eager to go to the battlefield right away and come back with a 56 and a half captured SVD sniper rifles in their hands, just like us.
That's exactly what I wanted, and at least I've managed to get them to overcome their fear of Vietnamese snipers. As a "sharpshooter" who deals with snipers in the Vietnamese army, if we are still struggling with the fact that the rifle in our hands is inferior to the enemy, we are afraid that we will lose more than half of our members after a few battles. Even if I can capture a few 'strong' sniper rifles, I'm afraid that there will be very little left of this 'shooting' team in my hand, which is by no means what I want.
Of course, I also know that it is not only necessary to defeat the enemy with morale and mental state, and if this is the case, I am afraid that our army will have already defeated the Vietnamese army. So for the rest of the day, I quickly started training them.
Considering that they are all soldiers with good marksmanship who have been selected from the company, the focus of my training is not on marksmanship. Actually, I've always thought that as a sniper, it's not about marksmanship. It's about how to hide yourself and correctly analyze and judge the position of your opponent based on the information you have.
If you can do this, then you will undoubtedly have the initiative on the sniper battlefield. If you can't kill your opponent in this situation, it seems that you can only blame your mental quality not being good enough or training hard enough.
So the training of the fighters has become easier, and it seems that I only need to use the same set that I used to train cold gun troops. The difference is that in the past, the cold gun troops were lurking in the snow, but now they are ...... We're in the jungle.
I have to admit that sniping in the jungle is much more difficult and complex than sniping in the snow. The reason is very simple, although the snow is also conducive to hiding, and nothing can be seen when the snow is covered, but often as soon as the shot is fired, the position will be exposed, and the gunfire will reveal the general direction of the target, and the vibration when shooting will shake off part of the snow, and it is impossible for the sniper to move his position on the open snowfield, and the sniper can only stay in place after hitting the target and wait for the sky to darken down and withdraw from the position...... These all make sniper battles in the snow easy, hard, and boring
However, in the sniper battle in the jungle, all these problems are gone. The grass and trees in the jungle can be a good hiding place for snipers, and snipers can use these environments to develop freely and show their abilities. As long as you master the route well, you can really change places with one shot. Coupled with the interference of tree branches and teng sticks in the jungle, it makes the jungle sniper battle very complicated.
However, it is fortunate that this has reduced the gap between the 56 and a half 400-meter 'firing' range and the SVD's 1,000-meter 'firing' range to a large extent. Otherwise, if it's in the snow or the plains, I don't think 56 and a half will be able to beat SVD.
It is precisely because of this that the first subject of our 'shooting' group is how to hide ourselves and get close to the enemy. This is especially important for our army, which mostly uses 56 and a half. Just like the soldiers said, because of the 'shooting' range, we will face a difficulty in many cases, that is, the Vietnamese army will be able to hit us, but we will not be able to hit the Vietnamese army.
There is no doubt that if we want to kill the enemy, we must get close to the enemy, and we must not let the enemy discover in the process, otherwise, we will be a "death before we can get out of the army".
But then another problem arises, as you can imagine...... If the snipers of both sides are facing each other, we are within the enemy's 'firing' range and the enemy is outside our 'firing' range, in which case we are close to the enemy snipers...... Then I'm afraid that except for the Vietnamese snipers, it will depend on luck if you want to win.
For this reason, I suddenly remembered that once when I faced several Vietnamese soldiers with AK47s in their hands, they were dealing with me who had a long range of 'shooting', using one of the Vietnamese soldiers to lurk in place, and the rest of the Vietnamese troops retreated to attract me to chase after me, and I unknowingly entered the 'shooting' range of the latent Vietnamese troops in the process of chasing......
This was indeed a good way to not only turn passive into active, but also to lurk in the shadows and wait for the prey to approach, so I quickly extended this method learned from the Vietnamese army to the 'shooting' group. In other words, the 'shooting' team is no longer an independent "sharpshooter", but also needs to cooperate with each other.
And I was inspired by this method and thought of another way to cooperate...... Once the Vietnamese snipers stationed in a certain place are not fooled and do not pursue, then a few members of the front will be used to pretend to attack, while the flanks will send other members to make a detour. If it still can't be defeated, then the only way to call for artillery fire is to blow up indiscriminately.
Based on the above considerations, the training of the 'shooting' group starts from the aspects of lurking in the jungle, lurking and engaging the enemy, and cooperating with the 'luring' of the enemy. Whether or how much of a difference these trainings can be played will have to wait for the test of the battlefield
