Volume 1 The First Journey into the Rivers and Lakes Chapter 92 The Indoctrination of the Desert Monks
Bai Ding's carriage was quite large, with four horses pulling it. The horses go hand in hand, and they look very magnificent. There are only four lanes on ordinary roads, and if it were elsewhere, the carriage would inevitably be subject to some controversy. It's in the desolate desert, but it's just right to run wild. The horses may also know that the people in the carriage are extremely extraordinary and have a bad temper lately, so they act very tacitly and walk in surprisingly consistent steps. These things are not the slightest strange thing in Bai Ding, and what seems strange is the person who follows closely behind the carriage. The carriage sometimes galloped, sometimes slowly, without the slightest regularity. But the man always kept a distance of dozens of paces, not far or close. This distance allowed him to just hear the call of the person in the carriage, and he would not let himself be disliked by the person. Wei Jingbian's face was rather haggard, and the scorching sun and the wind and sand in the sky made his face even darker and yellower.
The direction of the carriage was different from what had been planned, and it was diverted from the south of the Western Desert to pass straight through. Therefore, Wei Jingbian also saw many things and things that could not be seen around the West Desert, but he still didn't understand Bai Ding's intentions, so he could only wait in silence and slowly learn to think for himself. Only by obeying orders can servants have the opportunity to show their submission to their masters.
In the middle of the desert, the more prosperous the place, the more clearly divided the crowd and the more hierarchical it becomes. No matter which tribe it is, it is always ruled by a nobleman. The ruler, as the name suggests, is supreme and unquestionable. Here, they can enjoy wealth and nobility at will, and they can deprive others of the right to happiness and even the right to live at will. They claimed to be messengers sent by the Buddha to the earth, and they were always the same on the outside, and all of them had a noble faith and were committed to becoming the Buddha's diehard loyalists.
The fields are dotted with greenery, and you can see the joy of a few. The nobleman, who was so fat that he could exud oil, held sumptuous food in his hands and wore an unnamed golden laurel crown on his head to show his status. Their feet do not stir up dust, and they rest comfortably on the white back of the maiden. The servants who were waiting on the side were respectfully holding the flasks, and their eyes were not shining at all. There was no expression on their faces, no envy, jealousy or hatred, and no pity or desire when they looked at the lowly girl. Because, here, it is a very brave and cruel thing to have hope, and they will all end up in vain, and even take their lives. It was only the occasional bowing of their heads that the movement of their throats could express their vitality and a hint of longing, nothing like statues.
The reason why nobles are nobles depends on their strong force. There are many brave and obedient herders in the grasslands. Some of them, whose hands were already stained with blood, enjoyed the pleasure of a knife piercing their bodies, even if they were their kind, and they loved the pleasure of whipping their slaves, felt their fear and fear, looked forward to their resistance, and finally they were more than willing to give vent to their only vitality in their slaves.
Base your own happiness on the pain of others. Someone has to enjoy it, but someone has to suffer. In other words, in every such village, there is the joy of a small number of people, and the suffering of the majority of people.
Because of the presence of monks, the slaves rarely resisted. The nobles were happy to show enough respect to ask the traveling monks to explain the Dharma. The Dharma, which does not cultivate this life and only cultivates the afterlife, has become the spiritual sustenance of the slaves. Over time, they will even fantasize at night about what kind of blessings they will have in the next life, and how this master of their own life will suffer in front of them when he is reincarnated, and how they will deal with him. Even if they dream of turning over, they will never pick up the blade of resistance in reality to fight a war towards freedom and happiness. And when they donated the only possessions they had to the monks and Buddhas, they would show sincere smiles when they thought of the good fortune of the afterlife, and the nobles would never have seen them.
And so, another round of years-long oppression and exploitation began, and perhaps the next time, when the monks came, they would not have the opportunity to meet.
for they have no possessions, or their lives are gone. It is common for nobles to eat people with their eyes open and kill people with their eyes closed.
Bai Ding knew all this without lifting the curtain. In fact, Wei Jingbian never saw him open the curtain. Bai Ding doesn't want to look at it, so he won't have any curiosity about things. Wei Jingbian heard the screams and laughter in the tent not far away, and he also knew about it. When the little monk died, he didn't seem to care so much about it.
Four horses with their carriages drove straight to the tribe, and the four horses rode in a majestic manner into the center of the tent. Wei Jingbian didn't rush to follow, and saw the same scene that had been repeated many times. All people, nobles and slaves, fell to their knees as a sign of respect. Then, a moment later, someone took the initiative to take off the bridles of the four horses, remove the saddles, lead them to one place, and wash them with clean water. The carriage was supported by thick wood, and the slaves, at the suggestion of the nobles, brought to the carriage many precious foods that the nobles were reluctant to eat.
Wei Jingbian's ability may not be clear. If you really want to give a boundary, I'm afraid that in Wei Jingbian's eyes, it has to be as high as the sky.
Everything was going well. As long as the other two traveling monks did not arrive here. Behind the meadow came two older traveling monks. Just by their white temples, you can tell a thing or two. Wei Jingbian looked as hard as he could, and the two monks also walked directly into the camp.
To say how glorious and fortunate this noble man is, he can receive so many guests in one day. The two old monks also calmly accepted everyone's pious bowing, and then unceremoniously selected a beautiful tent and went straight inside to rest. The nobles hurriedly arranged for the beauties to send some delicacies and wine in, and then one of the beauties came out and hugged two jars, and then one of them led three or four handsome young women into the account. Wei Jingbian's eyes widened at this time. The breeze blew the tent as if it had to be blown over. Only the carriage did not move.
The night was not long, but fortunately, Wei Jingbian was used to lurking around the camp and hiding his whereabouts. The horses roared, and the nobleman got up early in the morning, arranged for the slaves to pack up the carriage, and he could not forget what the guests on the carriage had ordered yesterday. As for the other two monks, he had his own arrangement, he planned to invite the two eminent monks to preach the Dharma and purify all sentient beings, so that those slaves could be bathed in the light of the Buddha and be enlightened by good lives. There was a lot of money to be spent on this, but when he thought of the fact that he had lost a lot of slaves in the past few months, not counting those who escaped, there were five or six who died of illness. The new slaves were also locked in cages, I don't know what kind of madness they had, they wanted to kill sheep with knives, he only had the temperament to boil those slaves, and he didn't dare to really kill more. In this way, under the bath of Buddha light, this tribe will become more stable, happy and harmonious.
After last night's reception, the four horses looked even more vigorous today. Saddles, bridles, and saddles were carefully pretended by the slaves. Unexpectedly, the two old monks stepped forward, shook the slaves away, and shouted to the nobleman, "How are you greeting people in this place? ”
The noble man broke out in a cold sweat, and he knew in his heart what the monk said, and since the beginning of this year, there have been no fewer dead people in his one-acre and three-third land.
"Do you know that you have committed a great sin, and how do you atone for it?"
The noble man was already more afraid of the monk, and when he saw the monk angry, and when he heard the word atonement, he knelt down and hurriedly bowed his head to admit his mistake.
The monk did not hesitate and said, "If you are not sincere to the Buddha, the Buddha will eventually blame you." ”
When the slaves heard the word blame, they seemed to see the coming of the plague and quickly fell to their knees.
Where would the noble man not understand, he hurriedly bowed his head to the ground, and said very reverently: "I beg the master to cross the disciple." ”
The other monk nodded, the two looked at each other and smiled, and the monk who spoke just now continued: "I am invited by you and other sinners to open the altar to preach the Dharma today, and you can come to listen to it and be transformed by the Buddha." ”
As soon as these words were spoken, the slaves seemed to usher in the long-lost spring breeze and rain, and it did not take long to erect a solemn altar, which was all caused by the mental and material resources of the slaves and the slaves themselves. However, this action was so fast, and the nobles were also dumbfounded.
A monk glanced at the nobleman heavily, and the nobleman's heart was clear, but he had to do a full set of scenes in front of the person, so he lowered his head.
The carriage stood still, as if nothing had anything to do with him. On the pulpit, the monk sits on the lotus seat, recites the Dharma, and explains only a few words, but the story is easy to understand, and the monk's Dharma is solemn, and the words in his mouth are also very clear. The slaves and servants nodded their heads from time to time, and smiled with knowing joy, which looked even more comical on their blackened faces. At this moment, their hearts seemed to be connected, and there was no longer any barrier.
Wait until the monk knocked the wooden fish three more times, and said a long word: "That's what I smell." The monk stopped talking. When the slaves saw the monk close his eyes, they did not dare to make any noise. Some of those who had a little bit of wisdom, or who had heard the Dharma preach before, also closed their eyes. The slaves did the same, and they received the bath of the boundless Dharma together.
The noble man also closed his eyes, and the smile on the corner of his mouth was even richer than the many tricks he enjoyed on the woman yesterday. It's a big deal.
The monk standing with a cold gaze as if looking at a group of stupid sheep trying to get out of the wolf's clutches, his smile was cold, but unfortunately no one saw it.
From time to time, the horse lowered his head and snorted with his nose, which blew the dust. It didn't take long for the horses to walk out of the tribe at the signal of their master. They also seem to have become extremely spiritual, and after listening to the Dharma, they have been edified to a certain extent. It's just that it is unknown whether they have the afterlife in their minds. Their pace was consistent and powerful, but they walked a little slowly, as if waiting for someone.
Wei Jingbian was not influenced by the Dharma, so he easily caught up with the carriage.
The man in the carriage was so surprised by this Dharma talk that he didn't have to think about it to know that it was the noble man who was so moved that he was willing to pay for his past sins and vowed to treat the slaves well. The monk felt the sincerity of the noble man, praised him, and said to the crowd that this noble man was the reincarnation of the boy in front of the Bodhisattva, who had come to test or transform the people of this tribe. The slaves and slaves submitted and even offered their treasures to the monk.
In the end, the nobleman and the two monks entered the tent, and how they talked and discussed in detail is probably only known to the three of them.
