Chapter 10 Morning Lessons

Jiang Yun walked a few steps, and saw two lay disciples, one fat and one thin, who were hurriedly preparing to pass by the gate of the abbot's courtyard and go to the six courtyards to which they belonged.

The chubby lay disciple Fa Zikong, whose real name is Fang Yukong; The skinny lay disciple Fa Zichen, whose real name is Ji Chen. Both of them are the children of a farmer's family under the mountain, and the two families are neighbors, so the relationship between the two has always been very good.

Zikong and Zichen were accepted as lay disciples by Shaolin Temple because they had good cultivation talents and were both only sons in the family.

Jiang Yun beckoned to stop the two of them, and asked curiously, "Why are you in such a hurry, where are you going?" Zichen was a little surprised to find that Jiang Yun was not wearing a monk's robe, but he immediately remembered that yesterday the abbot and the head of each courtyard brought back a high-ranking child, presumably this person in front of him.

Zichen touched his pointed chin, thought for a moment, and said, "We are in a hurry to go to the Wuxiang Academy to attend the morning class, if we go late, we will be punished again." ”

Zikong on the side seemed to remember the scene where he had been punished before, and couldn't help but shrink his neck.

Jiang Yun wanted to see and see, so he asked, "Can I go with you?" ”

Zikong looked at Zichen, meaning to let him make a decision. When the two are together, basically every time Zichen takes the idea.

Zichen thought about it, the other party was a son of a master and the abbot brought it back, so there shouldn't be any problems, so he happily agreed and nodded and agreed.

In this way, Jiang Yun, Zichen, and Zikong hurried to the Wuxiang Courtyard, and when they entered the courtyard of the Wuxiang Courtyard, they walked directly to the main hall.

In the main hall, Zhixin sat cross-legged with his eyes closed, and behind him was a huge golden statue of the Buddha without a face.

The front rows of the hall were already full of disciples in yellow-robed monks' robes, and some white-robed monks were scattered in the back rows.

After Jiang Yun, Zichen and Zikong came in, they found a corner position in the back and sat cross-legged on the futon, and there happened to be a pillar next to it, which was not very noticeable.

Jiang Yun saw that the person sitting at the top was not the first seat of the Wuxiang Courtyard that he saw yesterday, but the person who guarded the mountain gate at the mountain gate yesterday, so he asked Zichen beside him in a low voice, "Who is sitting at the top?" ”

"He is the first big disciple of our Wuxiang Academy, like this kind of morning class, each academy is presided over by the first big disciple, among the first big disciples of each academy, he is the youngest in terms of age, but his cultivation is the highest, and he is the one who is most expected to achieve the God Emperor Realm." Zichen explained to Jiang Yun in a whisper.

Jiang Yun nodded, so it was.

At this moment, Zhixin, who was sitting cross-legged on the top, opened his eyes, and when he saw that everyone had arrived, he stood up and took out three sandalwood sticks made of sandalwood mixed with spices from the shelf next to him, lit them, and then came to stand in front of the Buddha of Wuxiang.

At this time, all the disciples who were originally sitting got up and stood facing the Buddha with their hands folded, and Jiang Yun also stood up with one bone, learning from Zichen and Zikong next to him.

"Nirvana Sutra" 30: Hue, sound, fragrance, taste, touch, birth and dwelling, male, female, is the name of the ten phases, so it is said that there is no phase." After Zhixin finished speaking, he inserted the sandalwood in his hand into the incense burner, and then turned to face the disciples and said, "Start the morning class." ”

As Zhixin's voice fell, the disciples sat down on the futon, and the real morning class began.

Jiang Yun has read a few scriptures, but he has not studied them deeply. It can be seen that the empty and dusty people beside him closed their eyes and chanted scriptures in their mouths, so they had to close their eyes and fold their hands, pretending to be the same as other disciples.

Listening to the sound of chanting that kept coming into his ears and Zhixin holding a copper chime and beating the wooden fish to make a rhythmic beep, Jiang Yun slowly maintained this posture as if an old monk had settled down.

Zhixin opened his eyes and looked at Jiang Yun's location, a flash of appreciation flashing in his eyes.

Jiang Yun found himself entering a very wonderful feeling, as if he had entered the clouds, and his whole body was wrapped in it, soft and comfortable.

But soon this wonderful feeling disappeared, as did the chanting and the sound of the wooden fish beating.

The sandalwood had burned out, and the morning class was over.

So fast? Jiang Yun felt that he had just closed his eyes, and the morning class was over.

Seeing Jiang Yun's blank expression, Zichen explained: "I was like this when I first started morning class with Zikong, and it felt like it was over before it started. Later, as my practice deepened, I slowly controlled the wonderful feeling that I had, which was very helpful for my own practice. ”

Disciples continued to come out one after another in the interior of the main hall, and when they passed by Jiang Yun's side, they all looked at him curiously.

Standing in the courtyard of the Wuxiang Courtyard, the warm sunlight shining on his body, Jiang Yun had the illusion of washing the lead flower.

At this time, the bell of the drum tower rang again, and Zikong hurriedly dragged Jiang Yun and Zichen to the gate of the courtyard, and said as he walked: "Let's go, this is the bell of Wuguantang, let's go over for breakfast." "I've been on the mountain for almost a year and a half, and Zikong feels that the biggest motivation for me to insist on practicing here every day is the food in Wuguantang, especially the big white steamed buns, which are hot, fragrant, soft, and glutinous, and the feeling is so good that I can eat five at a meal.

Wuguantang, also called Zhaitang, is the place where the disciples of Shaolin Temple eat. In Buddhism, when a practitioner eats, he or she should visualize five things: first, how much merit is counted, and where it comes from; the second is to be self-conscious and virtuous, and to lack all of them; the third is to prevent the heart from leaving, and greed is the sect; Fourth, it is a good medicine for the right thing, which is to treat the form and dryness; Fifth, it is for the enlightenment karma, so it is eaten.

Eating a meal is to combine it with the Dharma, so that even food that is as hard as steel can be digested; On the contrary, even a drop of water is difficult to digest. Therefore, there is a saying in the hall of Buddhism: "If the five views are clear, the gold is easy, and the three hearts are difficult to dissipate."

Jiang Yun thought of Master Hui Ke, saying that he was going to teach himself the "Yijin Sutra" today, and estimated that he would go to find himself after the morning class, so he said to Zichen and Zikong: "I still have something to do, so I won't go to Wuguantang for breakfast with you, and if you have time in the evening, you can come to the abbot's courtyard to find me." ”

"Alright, we'll come back to you in the evening." Zichen and Zikong nodded.

After separating from Zichen and Zikong, Jiang Yun returned to the abbot's courtyard, and as soon as he walked into the meditation room, a disciple on duty came to deliver food and told Jiang Yun that the abbot would come over in a while.

Jiang Yun finished breakfast, and Hui Ke walked into the room wearing a jujube mud-colored regular clothes.

Hui could see that Jiang Yun's face was ruddy, much better than yesterday, and said to Jiang Yun with a smile: "You should have rested well yesterday." ”

Jiang Yun stood up and tidied up his clothes, bowed down and said, "More abbot cares, I slept well yesterday." ”

Hui Ke hurriedly stepped forward to stop Jiang Yun's salute movements, and said solemnly: "Your master is a Xuanwei fairy, you and I don't have to have so much red tape." ”

Although Jiang Yun and Hui Ke are much worse in age, their masters, Xuanwei Fairy and Bodhidharma Patriarch, are both powerhouses in the God Emperor Realm and have been friends on an equal footing, and Jiang Yun nodded in agreement when he figured this out.

"I will teach you the "Yijin Sutra" on behalf of my teacher, Patriarch Bodhidharma, to help you get rid of the evil diseases in your body as soon as possible and correct the way of heaven." Hui Ke stretched out two fingers at the center of Jiang Yun's eyebrows at the same time, and said in a deep voice: "This is the meridian and vein diagram of the "Yijin Sutra", you must keep it in your heart. ”

Jiang Yun felt the warmth at the center of his eyebrows, and then a humanoid picture appeared in his mind, and its body was covered with complex meridians and veins.
