Chapter Twenty-Seven: Encounters at Night
In the end, Grindelwald didn't answer Karl's last two questions either.
He was gone, leaving Carl's mind full of confusion and incomprehension.
He didn't even interfere with Carl helping Voldemort steal the Philosopher's Stone, just pointing to the book "Secrets of Cutting-Edge Dark Arts" given by Voldemort.
"You can study the magic in this book, but it's best not to use it lightly, unless you want to become as inhuman as Voldemort. โ
"Goodbye, boy. For the greater good!"
With that, as when they first met, he tapped his forehead with his index and middle fingers again, shook Karl with a salute, and then turned and disappeared into the shadows of the hallway.
Carl didn't even have a chance to ask any more questions, so he stared at the darkness deep in the hallway.
What is this called?
Suddenly appeared, drew a big pie for him, and then disappeared.
......
Austria, Lรคnt Mountains, snow-capped.
Newmengard Castle rises above the top of a hill.
It has long lost its former glory, and has become dilapidated and lifeless.
Only above the entrance door is still clearly printed a few large words: For the greater good.
Since Grindelwald's fall, it has become a huge prison for Grindelwald himself and his staunchest supporters.
The guards walked through the corridors of the castle, always on the lookout for any unexpected situations that might arise.
The castle's cutting-edge tower, which was once Grindelwald's living quarters, was long gone, with only the cold stone walls and a hardboard bed in the center of the room.
On the bed sat an old man cross-legged, ragged and wrinkled, with long hair draped haphazardly over his shoulders, looking like he hadn't taken care of it for a long time.
The old man looked a little haggard, his eyes were glazed, and he seemed to be in a daze.
After a long while, the old man's eyes suddenly changed from sluggish to clear.
Immediately after, there was a clicking sound at the door of the room.
Without looking back, the old man spoke:
"Albus, you're doing your rounds again. โ
Sure enough, Dumbledore walked in.
He walked round the bed to the front of the old man, who looked up at him, then lowered his head again, and said:
"I'm still here, aren't you disappointed?"
Dumbledore didn't speak, and behind his half-moon glasses, a pair of sky-blue eyes stared at the old man with a scrutinizing gaze, as if trying to see something.
It wasn't until ten minutes later that he finally gave up and said slowly:
"What the hell do you want to do?"
The old man looked up and grinned at Dumbledore.
"Guess. โ
......
Walking through the dark corridors, Carl looked intently at the book "Secrets of Cutting-Edge Dark Arts".
On his left shoulder floated a blob of light, a glow of fluorescent light.
Carl freed it from the wand so that he could concentrate on reading instead of holding it in his hand all the time.
Originally, he just wanted to see what was written in the book, but after just one glance, he was so fascinated by what it was about that he couldn't stop anymore.
Looking at the contents of the book, Carl felt as if he had opened the door to a new world.
Then he slammed the door.
With a "bang", Carl hit the knot solidly, and tears fell from his eyes.
A large bag immediately swollen up on the door of his head, and just a light touch made Carl grin in pain.
Immediately afterwards, there was a rush of footsteps in front of him.
Carl was startled at first, then realized that the footsteps were getting farther and farther away from him.
It's a student!
It is estimated that he came out in the middle of the night and wandered around the corridor without sleep, and was scared away by him.
Pouting, Karl ignored it, pulled out his wand and pointed at the big bag on his head and whispered "Heal as before", and the big bag quickly disappeared.
He once again focused on the book in his hand, reading it as he walked towards the Greenffindor lounge.
He hadn't gone far, but when he passed by a pair of armor standing against the wall, he suddenly heard an exclamation from behind the armor.
"Carl?"
Immediately after, a figure emerged from a gap behind the armor.
"Harry?"
......
The castle was becoming more and more like home, something Harry had never felt at Four Privet Road.
Since being selected for Gryffindor's Quidditch team and becoming a Seeker, Harry has been training late every Wednesday night.
Wood seems to have used him as a secret weapon, and the former never lets him participate in regular afternoon training, but instead gives him a small stove in the evening.
As a result, Harry was so busy every day that he had to spend four days doing homework that everyone else would have taken five days to complete.
But he didn't feel bad, but felt that every day was very fulfilling.
Especially when he has mastered some of the basics, his homework has become more and more interesting.
However, in this way, time flies.
When Harry suddenly realized that he had been at Hogwarts for almost two months, he himself found it incredulous.
Today is Wednesday, and the day after tomorrow is Halloween.
By the time Harry had finished training that night, it was almost midnight.
Sitting on the bed, Harry was sweating profusely, he was awakened by the horror.
I don't know why, he's been dreaming of Carl's black eyes for the past two days, and it's the same tonight.
In the dream, those eyes were fixed on him, and then it wasn't long before a green light appeared.
Then he was awakened.
In the next bed, Ron muttered a few times in his sleep.
Dean and Seamus were also asleep.
Neville seemed to be going to the school hospital again, and during an impromptu potions class in the afternoon, Neville misplaced a potion, and the hot potion squirted straight out of the cauldron, splashing him all in the face.
Harry didn't wake Ron and got out of bed alone, draping his school robe over his pajamas.
Distraught, he decided to go out for a walk.
The temperature in the corridor was a little low, Harry had just woken up, and his pajamas were soaked in cold sweat.
But it was too late to go back, and the fat lady didn't know where to go, and the portrait was empty, so Harry had to wrap his school robe tighter.
Walking alone in the hallway, Harry regretted it more and more, the dark hallway in front of him was like a devouring mouth, and the same was true behind him.
The oil lamp he carried in his hand only illuminated the path under his feet, and as he walked, Harry realized that he no longer knew where he was.
Suddenly, Harry seemed to see a bright light in front of him, and he was first delighted, then startled.
Glad he finally saw a living person, and surprised that he was still walking in the corridor at this time, either the teacher or Filch.
Immediately after, Harry heard a "thump", and Harry thought that the other party might have spotted him.
He didn't care about anything else, so he hurriedly ran away. He realized that the oil lamp in his hand made it impossible for him to hide. So, he hurriedly threw away the oil lamp in his hand.
However, as soon as the oil lamp was thrown away, Harry regretted it.
Without the oil lamp, he couldn't even see the road under his feet, and he couldn't tell the direction in the darkness.
No, Harry had to find a pair of armor nearby and hide behind him, hoping to escape.
Judging by the footsteps, the man was approaching.
Hiding behind his armor, in the distance, Harry could only see a vague figure, a ball of light floating over the figure's shoulder.
He immediately realized what kind of magic it was.
The fluorescent flicker, which Harry had seen in Standard Spell Elementary, but Professor Flitwick hadn't talked about it yet, but Harry remembered that the magic described in the book was capable of making the tip of a wand glow, similar to a Muggle flashlight.
But the book also mentions that more advanced spell-casting techniques can free the light from the wand, but it only mentions it, but it doesn't explain how to do it, which is only mentioned in the senior books.
There is no doubt that this man must be a teacher.
Harry's heart pounded, and he cupped his chest, afraid that the sound of his own heartbeat would reveal his place.
However, as the man approached, Harry finally saw his face, and then, involuntarily, he let out a cry.
"Carl?"
