One hundred and thirteen, opened the hanging arsenal
After half a year, the wedding of Ferdinand and Princess Xenia was completed in the palace of Sofia, announcing the end of this wedding of the century.
Ferdinand, who was so busy that he was dizzy, had just been idle, and he didn't have time to enjoy a "happy" married life, so he devoted his energy to domestic construction.
In the 19th century, the development of human beings was changing with each passing day, and weapons and equipment had undergone earth-shaking changes.
Since the establishment of the Bulgarian Arsenal, in the past few decades, it has successively introduced weapons production lines from Russia, Britain, France, Germany, and Austria-Hungary.
The Balkans have always been a high-risk area of war, and all countries attach great importance to the upgrading of weapons, and almost as long as the great powers have new technologies and equipment, everyone buys and buys, so the Balkans are also the testing ground for new weapons of various countries.
Of course, the Ottoman Turks were an exception, and the nobles were always slower to react. Already after the Bulgarian War in 1885, breech-loading rifles began to become the mainstream of the Bulgarian army.
However, until now, a large part of the Ottoman army was equipped with breech rifles, not to mention artillery.
Perhaps the noble officials and gentlemen think that the older the weapon, the better, which is more in line with the heritage of their old empire!
After all, in the Balkan War in 1912, breech rifles and artillery appeared on the battlefield. There's no costume change yet, and there's nothing unacceptable!
In order to unify the caliber of ammunition and uniformly change the equipment of the whole army, the military committee has now made a lot of noise, which has caused Ferdinand a headache.
After all, he is just an amateur military enthusiast, although he knows that many weapons are famous in later generations, but after all, he is just listening to the opinions of later experts!! There are many personal perceptions mixed in this, and how high the authenticity is, is a big question mark.
In terms of weapons and equipment, any one in the military council is much more professional than him. After all, they were all from the Yixiao Army, and the weapon performance parameters are not said to be remorseful, and it is not far from ten to say it.
After all, the most suitable is the best, and this controversy, in the final analysis, is also related to the personal philosophy of the military leadership, there is no absolute right or wrong!!
The German system is the mainstream of the army in the world today, and in the Franco-Prussian War, the outstanding performance of the German army, even with German armaments, has become the object of emulation by all countries in the world, and the army equipment is the most widely used.
The advantages of Russian-made weapons are that they are cheaper, simpler, and hardy, which has been the mainstream in the Balkan countries before.
Others advocate a great mix, sifting through the equipment of the world's major powers and selecting the best weapon combinations.
The last idea is theoretically good, but the feasibility is a question mark, the compatibility of weapons is a hard flaw, the logistical pressure is high, and the culture of the soldier is very demanding!
There is a good reason that the level of basic education of Bulgarians is among the highest in Europe and can meet these needs. As for the later problems, the big railway and big highway plan just solved the transportation problem!
Of course, this is limited to defensive operations, if it is a transnational operation, it will be miserable, unless the logistics department is open, otherwise it is enough to choke!!
In the end, Ferdinand also vetoed the large-scale import of weapons and decided to be self-reliant!! First get the finished products from the hands of the major powers, let the engineers copy, and then carry out self-transformation, otherwise the talents poached from European countries at a great cost will not be wasted.
This was already three years ago, and even the replacement of equipment with the Bulgarian army has been delayed until now!
The arsenal, which has been burning money for several years, has finally made a phased breakthrough through the unremitting efforts of engineers.
As early as two years ago, the arsenal completed the deplaning of the rifle process, whether it is the German Mauser, the Russian 1891 Mosin Nagant (water beads), the British Lee Metford, or the American Martini Henry, etc., there is no pressure to copy!
On this basis, the designers also brainstormed to design a rifle that belongs to Bulgaria's own, which is simple to operate, durable, and depressed to maintain, and has been well received by the majority of officers and soldiers!!
Of course, on the whole, in addition to the slight difference in appearance, there is also a slight lighter weight, and in terms of performance, it is almost the same as Shuilianzhu, (that is, its copycat version) was shamelessly named "Bulgarian 1889 rifle"!
Due to Ferdinand's foresight, as soon as the Russians had the 1891 Mosin-Nagant rifle, the intelligence department spent money to get one, brought it back, and then the arsenal quickly copied it, and as a result, the Bulgarian Army gave priority to the installation of the bear!!
Of course, there is no such thing as royalties, this can only be a creative crash! Anyway, Ferdinand is embarrassed to collect patent fees, although in this year, weapons and equipment manufacturers do not take patent fees seriously!!
For example: Martini-Henry rifle: "The rifles of the nineteenth century should be like me!" ”
Even if everyone copied it, no, it borrowed his ideas, but there were no and few of them gave royalties!
It's like the Turkish Martini-Henry rifle, with Henry rifling, there is no Henry on the inscription, not to mention any royalties!!
In fact, as early as 1874, after the production of the Martini-Peabody rifle began, Alexander Henry went to the United States to negotiate with Providence to pay the royalties but was refused, and the Scotsman returned home in a rage... And then there was no then.
Therefore, in the field of weapons production, if you want to receive patent fees, you can only hope for the other party's discipline!
Now a breakthrough has finally been made in artillery technology, and the successful imitation of the French M1897 75mm gun (commonly known as: Miss France) has announced Bulgaria's cross-era breakthrough in the field of rapid-fire artillery!
Don't get me wrong, the M1897 gun does not mean that it was born in 1897, but that it refers to the installation. In fact, the French began to design it as early as 1891, and Ferdinand can't remember how long it took to complete it!!
Originally, Ferdinand didn't have the idea of fighting it now, after all, it was still being designed! But two years ago, in an accident, Le Goff, a Parisian intelligence officer, accidentally obtained a sketch of Miss France's design, and he didn't pay attention at the time, so he handed it in as ordinary information and sent it back to Bulgaria.
Ferdinand didn't pay attention to it, and threw it directly to the arsenal, but he didn't expect it to attract the attention of artillery designer Gustav, who thought it was a major breakthrough in the history of artillery at that time, and reported it to Ferdinand all the way.
