Chapter 13 The upper beam is not right, and the lower beam is crooked

On the way to the Liangyi Palace, Yang Guang briefly sorted out the deeds of Pei Ju and Yu Shinan in his memory.

Yu Shiji, the word Mao Shi, Hui Ji Yu Yao people, father Yu Li, uncle Yu Ji, all of them are famous for a while. Sui famous calligrapher, literary scholar, erudite and talented, and good at grass, together with his younger brother Yu Shinan is known as "Erlu." (Lu Yun, Lu Ji)

The two brothers' external personalities and literary specialties are equally matched, but their principles of life are very different.

Yu Shinan is poor and thrifty, upright, and disdainful of clever words and songs, so there is a Sui generation, only from the six products of the living house.

But Yu Shiji is different, Shi Sui, the official to the Guanglu doctor, the internal history of the squire, the head of the "election of Cao Qigui", the most favored minister of Emperor Yang of Sui.

Shiji is quiet, quiet, invisible, and his memory is far more than ordinary people, and the things that Emperor Yang of Sui confesses, as long as he says it once, he has no matter how big or small, and all of them can be kept in mind, and he is copying it down in the Ministry of Internal History, hundreds of policies and plans, without any omissions and mistakes.

Hedong Liu, the scrivener of the rites, is erudite and talented, and he boasts that his talent is higher than the sky, and there are few people who can praise him. It wasn't until I met Yu Shiji that I sighed: "This person should be pushed together in the sea, and it is beyond my reach." ”

When Yu Shiji was young, his family was poor and had no property because of the war, so he copied books for others to support his family, and he was often upset about this.

After being appreciated by Emperor Yang of Sui, he was extravagant, carved and decorated clothes, sold officials in prison, bribed public banks, and had no style of recovering from scholars.

He knew that after Emperor Yang of Sui ascended the throne, he was stubborn and self-serving, and he couldn't force advice, and because many ministers were convicted one after another because of the advice, he was afraid of disaster. Therefore, although he lived close to him, he would only win the favor of Emperor Yang with his flattery, and he did not dare to disobey the meaning of the saint.

For example, Yu Shiji knew that Emperor Yang of Sui did not like to hear the news of bandits in all parts of the country, so he often withheld urgent reports from all over the country, so that the local officials had no reinforcements to resist the bandits, and the army that won the rebellion did not receive a reward, and told Emperor Yang of Sui that the situation in the whole country was very good. So much so that when Yang Yichen, the ambassador and servant of Hebei Province, reported that hundreds of thousands of thieves were suppressed, Emperor Yang of Sui actually suspected that Yang Yichen was lying to himself!

Knowing that he can't admonish and suppress the appearance, this is the reason why Yu Shiji can become one person under ten thousand people, and it also lays the groundwork for his future death.

However, it is commendable that the relationship and family style of the Yu brothers are very good.

Although Yu Shiji and Yu Shinan have the same literary expertise, their inner personalities and principles are indeed different.

The elder brother is luxurious, and the younger brother is poor; The elder brother is only on the top, and the younger brother is clear; The elder brother acts arbitrarily, and the younger brother is self-denying and courteous。。。。。。

The two brothers, who were supposed to be different, lived together and were very friendly. The change in Jiangdu, Yu Shinan cried and begged for his brother to die, which shows how deep the relationship between the two brothers is.

Although Yu Shiji's sons are in wealth, they are filial piety. The change in Jiangdu, knowing that it was inevitable, could not bear to abandon their father to live, the three brothers did not avoid the sword soldiers, generously went to death, and competed to die before their father, which is embarrassing.

Pei Ju, whose name is Hongdae, like Pei Yun, was born in the Wenxi Pei clan of Shandong, a famous politician, diplomat, strategist, and geographer in the Sui and Tang dynasties.

Pei Ju lost his father when he was a child and was raised by his uncle Pei Rangzhi. He was diligent and studious, his articles were gorgeous, and he was quite scheming, and he was deeply respected by Emperor Wen of Sui and Emperor Yang of Sui.

In the eighth year of the emperor's reign, Emperor Wen of Sui appointed Yang Guang, the king of Jin, as the marshal and led the army to the south to attack the Chen State, and Pei Ju served as the secretary of the Marshal's Office, which was responsible for collecting the maps and household registration of the Chen State.

In the tenth year of the emperor's reign, Pei Ju sent an edict to patrol the Lingnan region, and with 3,000 soldiers, he successively defeated Wang Zhongxuan, killed Zhou Shiju, relieved the siege of Donghengzhou, pacified more than 20 states in Lingnan, and fought until Nankang. was praised by Emperor Wen of Sui and said: If there are ministers like this, I don't have to worry!

At the end of the emperor's reign, Pei Ju and Changsun Sheng worked together to implement the strategic policy of dividing the upper Turkic strata and dividing and disintegrating the Turkic tribes. He was ordered to send an envoy to the Turks, fooled Dulan Khan to kill the princess of Dayi in the former Northern Zhou Dynasty, and planned the defection of Mobei Tuli Khan (Qimin Khan), and together with Shi Wansui, defeated the combined forces of Datou Khan and Dulan Khan, and completely disintegrated the Turkic Khanate, which had threatened the Northern Dynasties for more than 100 years.

After Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty succeeded to the throne, Pei Ju personally visited the customs, mountains and rivers of the Western Regions, and wrote three articles of "Atlas of the Western Regions" to enter the Western Map. Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty then ordered Pei Ju to pass through the Western Regions.

Pei Ju first lobbied the Tiele people to send troops to attack Tuyuhun, Tuyuhun was defeated, and the Khan Fuyun sent an envoy to the Sui Dynasty to ask for surrender and ask for help. Taking advantage of this, Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty ordered Yang Xiong, the king of Guanguan, and Yu Wenshu, the general of Zuo Yiwei, to lead the army to greet him. Fuyun Khan was afraid of the Sui army, did not dare to surrender, and led his troops to move west. Yuwenshu invaded the territory of Tuyuhun, and its original territory was occupied by the Sui army for 4,000 miles from east to west and 2,000 miles from north to south.

In the fifth year of the Great Cause, Pei Ju sent envoys to persuade Gaochang Wang Lu Boya and Yiwu Tutun and others, promising them to send envoys to the court. In March, Emperor Yang toured west and arrived at Yanzhi Mountain. King Gaochang, Yi Wushe and others greeted the lord of the 27 countries of the Western Regions in person, and wore gold and jade, clothed in brocade, burned incense and played music, sang and danced noisily, and let the people of Wuwei, Zhangye and other counties wear costumes to follow and watch, and the carriages and horses were blocked, stretching for more than ten miles, in order to show the strength of the Central Plains. Therefore, Pei Ju was promoted to the position of Doctor Yin Qingguanglu.

In the sixth year of the Great Cause, he assisted Xue Shixiong to build Yiwu City, and made a counter-plan, so that the Western Turkic Khan attacked Luo Khan, and the Western Turk civil strife broke out, and Luo Khan had to follow the envoy into the court.

In the eighth year of the Great Cause, Pei Ju pacified Longyou, soothed the Hosana tribe, and let Que Dadu set up an invasion of Tuyuhun, plundered, and returned victorious.

In the tenth year of the great cause, Pei Ju went to Huaiyuan Town with Emperor Yang of Sui and led the Northern Tibetan military. The design lured Shi Shu Hu Xi, the think-tank of Shibi Khan, to the Mayi Mutual Market, killed him, and sent an envoy to report back to Shibi Khan, saying that Shi Shu Hu Xi defected to the Great Sui and was captured and killed by the Great Sui. But Shibi Khan knew the truth and no longer paid tribute to the Sui Dynasty.

The above is the first half of Pei Ju's brilliant life, which can be described as a brilliant meritorious service, known as "traffic in China and the West, merit than Zhang Qian".

But since the siege of Yanmen, the Great Sui Empire was troubled by internal and external troubles, and Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty was also frightened in this battle, not only did not reward the Qinwang army from all over the country to help, but also had no intention of conquering and saving the dead, and was even more arrogant and lascivious, breaking the jar and falling, so as to perish step by step.

Among them, Pei Ju also repeatedly admonished and advised, but he was not accepted by Emperor Yang of Sui, but was condemned to Pei Ju. In addition, at that time, the government and the opposition were already in a miasma, and Pei Ju slowly became a "wall grass" who would only welcome and please, and did not dare to admonish.

Thinking of this, Yang Guang sighed that the rise and fall of the feudal empire largely depends on whether the king himself is virtuous, and the relationship between the king and the courtiers is like a benchmark for timekeeping.

Yang Guang secretly warned himself that he must not follow the example of his predecessor, Yu Shiji, Pei Yun, and Pei Ju were all talented courtiers, and their early style was also commendable, but it was because of their predecessors' arrogance and lasciviousness, arbitrariness, and lack of loyalty. How to blow the intention, we will pour.

Therefore, Yang Guang felt that treating Wenchen and controlling military generals were different, the latter needed both grace and power, and he wanted to be able to suppress those arrogant generals. And Wenchen has no direct threat to the regime, and the saint has a thousand thoughts, there will be a mistake, the political hall is not a hall of words, so they should be allowed to speak freely, dare to speak, be able to speak, and say good things!

Only in this way can the monarch be able to fill in the gaps and ensure that the orders issued from the central government are correct and the information received is reliable!
