Section 26: The Pale One

Looking at the figure of the countess in the distance, Bruce's nose was only fragrant, and it was really embarrassing that such a stunner was a widow, and he suddenly felt a pain in his instep just thinking about it.

"Oops." Bruce jumped up and covered her instep, and saw Anne walking past with her head held high, and the girl didn't know what medicine she had taken wrong.

"Giggle." Mavis passed by Bruce as if she were watching the excitement, covered her little mouth and chuckled softly.

"What's going on?" Bruce limped in the direction of the church, which was usually the center of the town, and the square in front of the church was the most prosperous bazaar in the town, where the vendors sold their goods, and all sorts of people haunted there, and there was no better place to find news of the wandering knights than anywhere.

"Bell, bell, bell." The crisp bell rang in front of the firm church, the clergy wearing monk's hats slowly walked in the golden robes, and the six children of the choir lined up in two columns, holding six holy relics representing the Lord God in their hands.

"Come and buy it, rare items from the southern city-states, if you miss it, you will never find it again."

"Fish, fish, fresh herring."

"Herbs, herbs that can cure all kinds of diseases."

"Clay pots, the most beautiful and durable clay pots."

In front of the church, there was a lively market, the vendors were shouting one after another, and the commoners were lingering in front of the various vendors, haggling for the goods, Bruce walked in front of these vendors, watching them sell goods to him with interest, but he did not expect the bishop's diocese to be so commercially developed, which made Bruce envious.

"Where are we going to find that damn wandering knight?" Huntress Eve looked around dissatisfied, she thought she should be a famous person, but she didn't seem to find anything here.

"Hey, do you have a wandering knight here?" Bruce glanced at the vendors in the stalls, the kind of vendors who had been in the market for a long time, and were the most sensitive to all kinds of news, and asked them if they should be wrong.

"Sell ribbons, beautiful ribbons, the best gift for a lover or a lovely girl." The vendor ignored Bruce, waving the yellow, red, and green ribbons in his hand, shouting.

"Hey, get me a red one." Bruce sighed, these profiteers don't see rabbits and eagles, he pointed to the red ribbon and said to the vendors.

"Okay." The vendor immediately smiled, and he immediately took Bruce a copper peso and handed the red ribbon to Bruce, but Bruce did not reach out to take it.

"Oh yes, you're looking for a wandering knight! It's been a long time since the Bishop has taken in knights, and you know that wandering knights of unknown origin are suspicious. The vendor said to Bruce with a smile.

"Impossible, I heard that there are wandering knights here." Bruce said in surprise.

"I know who he's talking about!" A merchant next to the ribbon seller replied with a smile.

This is a craftsman who sells clay pots, he smiled and held a clay pot in his hand, and tapped it lightly with his fingers, the clay pot made a crisp sound, Bruce rolled his eyes and threw him three copper pesos, this rough clay pot is really useless except for holding rainwater, but in order to get accurate information, Bruce can only reluctantly throw money at him.

"A year ago there was a down-and-out wandering knight in town, and I really didn't look like a noble knight except for a piece of ill-fitting armor and a rusty sword." Said the merchant who sold clay pots.

"Oh, I remember when you say that, he seems to have visited the Bishop, but the Bishop never saw him at all, so the wandering knight used to wander in the tavern." The ribbon seller came to his senses and said to Bruce.

"That's right, it's good that he has a clever mouth to tell some strange stories to the travelers in the tavern, and get some reward for the flight." The vendor selling clay pots told Bruce.

"In the tavern? What's his name? Bruce pondered for a moment, then said to the vendor.

"His name is Edward, but people like to call him by the nickname, The Pale One."

"What does that mean, Pale One?" Bruce heard this nickname is really unbelievable, knights' nicknames usually represent their own characteristics or exploits, such as "Magic Mountain", "Widowmaker", "Victor", etc., what the hell is the Pale One?

"You'll know this if you've seen it." The two vendors laughed, with lewd expressions in their laughter.

Bruce turned around and prepared to go to the tavern, but at that moment he turned back and bought the remaining two ribbons, and the seller of the ribbons couldn't help but pray in the direction of the church, thanking the Lord God for the good luck he had bestowed.

"Wow, Ribbon." Bruce handed the red and green ribbons to Anne and Mavis, who cried out for joy when they saw the ribbons, and Anne immediately tied them around her neck and tied them into a bow, while Mavis tied the green ribbons to her hair, and the ribbons reflected their beautiful faces.

"Where are we going?" Huntress Eve asked Bruce.

"Go to the tavern and meet the so-called Pale One." Bruce shrugged his shoulders and said to Eve the Huntress.

The tavern of the town is on the third street of the town, pushing open the wooden door and the noise and smell of wine came to the shop, Bruce frowned but walked in, the huntress Eve, Anne and Mavis also followed him, Mavis looked at the tavern with interest, and the people in the tavern who were originally noisy noticed that there were strangers, they stopped the noise and drank and looked at the door, the originally noisy tavern suddenly became very quiet, only the sound of Bruce and the others walking into the ground was left.

"Guest, what do you want?" Only the tavern owner standing behind the bar, casually wiping his wine glass, his figure was very burly, and he was about 1.76 meters by sight.

"Get them something to eat, and give me a weak beer." Bruce saw an empty table next to the bar, motioned for Anne and the others to sit down, and said to the tavernkeeper himself.

"Absolutely." The tavern owner nodded, and asked the waitress to prepare food and wine for Bruce and the others, and seeing that Bruce and the others were also here to eat, people resumed talking and arguing.

"Boss, I want to ask you about someone." Bruce put his arm on the bar and said to the tavernkeeper.

"Oh, what are you looking for?" The tavernkeeper continued to wipe down his empty wine glass, replying nonchalantly to Bruce.

"I've heard there's a wandering knight here, nicknamed the Pale One, and I'm looking for him." Bruce said to the tavernkeeper.

"What? The Pale One? The tavernkeeper stopped his glass, he raised his head and stared at Bruce suspiciously, his voice was so rough that it almost overpowered the entire tavern, and when he heard his words, everyone stopped talking and focused on Bruce.

"No, that's right." Bruce was a little uncomfortable when he was suddenly saluted by the crowd, and he coughed unnaturally softly.

"What are you looking for him?" The tavern owner asked, putting down his glass and propping his hands on the bar.

"I'm the lord of Glinton, and I want to hire this wandering knight." Bruce straightened up and said to the tavernkeeper.

"What employs the pale? Hahahaha. After hearing Bruce's words, the tavernkeeper suddenly covered his face and laughed.

"Hahahaha~~~." Everyone in the tavern burst into laughter, many laughing and crying, and slamming the wooden table, a scene that made Bruce and the others wonder.
