Section 20: James's troubles

Little Lori Anne fell asleep on the wooden table, her face was full of tears, in her sleep she heard a knock on the door, at first Anne thought she was dreaming, because in the dream she dreamed that Bruce was back.

"Ping-pong-ping-pong." But the constant knocking made Anne sit up from the wooden table, and she opened her little mouth, but soon realized something, and immediately jumped up and opened the wooden door.

"It's so cold, it's cold." Bruce rushed in with a cold night wind, and Anne was about to laugh when she saw Bruce happy, but a dark figure appeared from behind Bruce, and Anne retreated in fright.

"Ah~~." Anne screamed in horror at the sight of the staggering monster, but Bruce covered her mouth.

"Don't scream, it's my friend." Bruce whispered in Anne's ear.

"This is your house, isn't it a little shabby as a lord." Anne saw a girl with blonde hair emerge from behind the monster, her beautiful face was like that of an angel, but her mouth was a little poisonous.

"Shabby, hmph, Mavis, this is much better than your shack." Seeing that Anne was no longer screaming, Bruce let go of his hand and walked over to the fireplace, which warmed him and put a satisfied smile on his face.

"I've heard that the lords live in castles, so you're not a castle! You say it's not Monica. Mavis sat down on the wooden chair beside the fireplace, and Anne glared angrily at the sight of the master's seat.

"I think it's nice here, it's warm and spacious, much better than our home." Monica looked up and down, and when she noticed Anne's gaze, she quickly tugged at her hood.

"My lord, what the hell is going on?" Annie looked at the people in the room, completely distracted by the situation in front of her, and she mustered all her strength to shout at Bruce, the sharp sound that Bruce couldn't help but cover his ears.

Bruce finally told Anne what had happened, and of course some things were omitted, but when Anne heard that the two women were actually swamp witches, she had a terrifying look on her face and quickly hid behind Bruce.

"That's right, we're the Swamp Witches, be careful that we make adult broth when we sleep at night." Anne's frightened look amused Mavis, who pulled her eyelids with her fingers and made a grimace with her tongue.

Mavis's words frightened little Lorianne into turning pale, and she hid behind Bruce, daring to show only one eye to look at the beautiful but terrifying Mavis.

"Enough, Mavis, don't scare my maid." Bruce smacked his mouth and said to Mavis that he had seen some wild fruits and grains in the shack, and Mavis and Monica ate the same food as the others, even though they were swamp witches.

"What are you going to do with us?" Mavis snorted softly and said to Bruce.

"If you can't let anyone know who you are as a witch, stay as a maid!" Bruce said to the two sisters.

"Maid, I didn't come here to be a maid." Mavis stood up dissatisfied.

"I don't have a problem." Monica raised her hand at this time and said, she knew better than her sister that if the identity of a witch appeared, she would definitely be spurned by people and hunted down by the church.

"Okay, that's it, Anne, it's a secret, you can't tell it, it's the lord's order." Bruce was relieved, though he didn't know how to hide Monica and Mavis next, because he didn't know how to find someone who could do plastic surgery, and the era was still in the Middle Ages.

In a state of mind, Bruce arranged a place for the Swamp Witch Sisters, and he collapsed into a slumber on a wooden bed covered with thick hay.

Early the next morning, the villagers were relieved by the news of the lord's return, and Bruce walked out of the door early in the morning with an iron sword in order to calm the people's minds, and walked around the village, this time he also brought five newly subdued bodyguards.

"Where the hell did the lord go?" Huntress Eve was stunned to see Bruce appearing, and it was a big show with five bodyguards by her side.

"The swamp witch told me I hadn't seen him, maybe we were mistaken!" Elder Warren was also surprised, but since Bruce was fine, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Bruce also began to work on the territory, gathering all the people in the center of the village and assigning them jobs.

"The first step is to clear the fields of weeds, and from now on Greenton's fields will be intensively cultivated." Bruce changed the villagers' rough slash-and-burn farming methods in the past, he asked the serfs to clear the weeds on the land that could be used for farming, and looking at the large land in front of him, Bruce finally understood why Glinton had so much land, but the yield was low.

"Is this a wooden plow? The blacksmith came with me. Bruce looked at the wooden plough that was used to plough the land, a plough made of hard wood, and he had a blacksmith make him an iron ploughshare, and the curved plough of iron could dig deeper into the ground.

Black smoke rose from the chimney of the blacksmith's shop, clanging sounded, the serfs in the fields were busy, and Bruce was like a firefighter, coming to the east of the village and the west of the village, he had too much to do.

"How's Eve's crossbow I showed you?" Bruce grabbed Eve, who was sitting in a hunting house by the woods, and asked her.

"I'll show you." Eve didn't say anything, and she threw a few hares from the hunting lodge.

"What is this?" Bruce didn't understand what Eve meant, and looked at the hares with some confusion.

"It's the prey you gave me with your crossbow, and I think it's useful." Eve took out the crossbow, and Bruce saw that the handle of the crossbow had been smoothed out, and even the bow had been improved, which should be Eve's masterpiece.

"Yes, can you make me more crossbows?" Bruce didn't expect Eve to have a knack for making weapons, and he said excitedly to Eve.

"Of course, but you'll have to give me a few men, oh, and I'll need a bow and arrow workshop." Eve raised her chin and said confidently to Bruce.

"No problem." Bruce nodded, his heart could only settle down a little with the armed forces in his hands, after all, the threat from Locke Manor had not yet been lifted.

Just as Bruce was doing his best to develop the territory, James of Locke Manor also received the news of Todd's execution, which was brought by Todd's coachman.

In front of a precious one-man tall mirror from the southern city-state, a curly-haired nobleman was looking at the shadow in the mirror, dressed in a high-sleeved garment, and three servants and two tailors were busy beside him.

"Dear Lord James, your brother Bruce has put to death my master, your most faithful servant, Todd." The coachman knelt at the doorway, and he put his hat to his chest and wept with tears in his eyes.

"How's it going, does my side look good?" But James ignored him, and to his right stood a handsome waitress with a small oval mirror in his hand, through which James's face could be seen.

"Immaculate, host." The waitress smiled sweetly and said to James.

"Well, beauty is what should exist in this world forever, and ugly things don't deserve to live." The two whiskers under James' lips were shiny and shiny, from rubbing olive oil, and his hair was also lubricated with olive oil, and he said with a disgusted look at the coachman as he turned around.

"That's right, Lord Baron." The waiter nodded hurriedly in response.

"But Todd is indeed a servant who has served me for a long time, and to kill him is to oppose me, and to send Sir Wayne to deal with my stupid brother." James said with a cruel smile on his face.

"Sir Wayne has gone to deal with the river boundary between our family and the Black Widow, and I'm afraid it will take some time to return." The waiter replied.

"Tsk, it's really troublesome, then wait for him to come back, I'm going to have a banquet for my uncle and Duke soon, and I don't want these things to bother." James frowned, brushed the ends of his hair with his hands, and said to the waiter.

"Understood, Lord Baron."
