Verse 28: The man who left the sea

The wooden door was kicked open, and several hideous-looking men rushed in, and they grabbed Edward who tried to escape by jumping out of the window, and the two held him in the middle, and the other big man looked at Bruce with a wooden pimple stick, as if to determine whether Bruce was in league with Edward.

Bruce stood up and pressed his hand to the hilt of his sword, he looked at what was happening in front of him with an indifferent expression, and decided that Bruce had nothing to do with it, and the big men turned to concentrate on dealing with Edward.

"Hi, brothers have something to say." Edward was placed between the big men, and his body was basically completely immobile.

"Don't talk nonsense, strange eyes want to see you." A bald man approached Edward's pale face and said to him.

"Weird eyes, haha, it's just a little money owed, so don't bother your boss." Edward said to the bald man with a smile.

"Don't worry, my lord, the strange eye has come to you in person." The bald man said to Edward.

"What?" Edward's face could no longer show a smile, and he couldn't help but look at the door when he heard heavy footsteps, and at the door appeared a one-legged man wearing a worn captain's hat, the man's prosthetic leg was a wooden stick foot, and he limped in.

"Boss." The big men immediately shouted at the man, and Bruce looked over to see that it was a man in his forties, gray hair peeking out from under the shabby captain's hat.

"Edward, Edward, what do you want me to say?" The man looked up, his left eye was grayish-white, as if he had been injured and blinded, and it looked very strange, no wonder it was nicknamed Strange Eye.

"Strange Eye, haha old friend, I've been trying to find a way to raise money, and lo and behold, this is a lord, and he's ready to hire me." Edward swallowed when he saw Strange Eye, and he quickly said to Strange Eye.

"Do you think I'll still believe you?" Strange Eyes glanced at Bruce, the young Bruce was dressed plainly, and he couldn't tell that he was a wealthy nobleman at all, and Strange Eyes glanced at the big men, and the three big men immediately grabbed Edward and pinned him to the window, ready to throw him headfirst down.

"Ahhh Edward screamed and grabbed the window, struggling so hard that Bruce couldn't stand him.

"Wait a minute, after all, he is a knight with a knighthood, are you not afraid of punishment for treating him like this?" Bruce said to Weirdeye and the others.

"Do you want to stand up for him?" Strange Eye touched his bearded chin and looked at young Bruce and said.

"I'm speaking in your interest." Bruce was not afraid of Strange Eyes, his hand was pressed on the hilt of the sword at his waist, if the nobles felt that they were threatened, they could draw their swords and kill people without punishment, on the contrary, the commoners were not even allowed to use swords, and although Strange Eyes and the others were villains and hooligans, they only used wooden sticks filled with lead.

"He owes us a lot of money, even if it is to the bishop, I am justified." Strange Eye did not believe that the Church of the Bishop protected a wandering knight, and Edward gambled in casinos and owed a lot of money to prostitutes, and Strange Eye would never let Edward go.

"It's just a little bit of money, my lord, as long as you help me pay the ransom, I'm willing to give you my life and sword." Edward also seized the opportunity to plead with Bruce.

"How much does he owe?" Bruce asked Weirdeye.

"Fifteen silver coins."

"Fifteen silver coins, FK." Bruce was taken aback, a serf's annual income was only two silver coins in the conversion of coins, and Edward had spent fifteen silver coins.

"It's just for socializing." Edward smiled awkwardly, he had indeed spent a lot of money this year, Bruce turned pale and prepared to leave, seeing that the last straw was about to leave, Edward became anxious.

"Honorable lord, if you save me, I will introduce you to the nobles of the bishop's court, some of them are my friends, and I will definitely be useful to you." Edward said loudly to Bruce, who stopped and turned around at Edward's words.

"If you have so many friends, why don't they come to your rescue?" Bruce scoffed and said to Edward.

Edward hurriedly explained to Bruce that in addition to having fun, he used the money to entertain the nobles of the bishop's court, but the relationship between these nobles was by no means easy to use.

"It is very beneficial to maintain friendship with the nobles of the bishop's court."

After Bruce listened to Edward's words, he took out fifteen silver coins and handed them to Strange Eye, watching Bruce take out his money bag to pay, Strange Eye was very surprised, he didn't expect Bruce to pay the ransom for Edward.

"Edward, you're in debt." Strange-Eye flicked the silver coin and beckoned his men to let Edward go, but when he and his men were about to leave, they were stopped by Bruce.

"Were you a former captain?" Bruce asked Weirdeye.

"Yes." Strange Eye raised his eyes, glanced at the worn captain's hat he was wearing on his head, and understood that Bruce had judged it when he saw his hat, so he nodded and said.

"I need an experienced captain, would you like to work in my territory?" Bruce said to him staring at the strange eyes.

"What?" Bruce's words caused Weirdeye and his men to look at each other, and several of them burst into laughter.

"Are you trying to hire me? Young lord? Tears flowed from his eyes, and he wiped the corners of his eyes with his fingers.

"That's right, do you think I'm really paying for this bombastic idiot?" Bruce didn't care about the strange sneer, he said seriously.

"Thank you for your appreciation, but I have long sworn that I will no longer serve the nobles, and I prefer to live freely." The strange eye pursed his lips, he turned around and said disappreciably, and then limped out of the house, his back looking very lonely and complicated.

"The value of fifteen silver coins is always worth your name, right?" Bruce said at the complicated back.

"Stukov, Alexey. Stukov. Strange Eye waved his hand and said without looking back.

"Alexey. Stukov, a captain who left the sea, is funny. Bruce listened to this rather heroic name, and became more and more curious about the strange eye.

"Oh, thank the Lord God, these abominable scoundrels are finally gone, my honorable lord, my life is yours from now on." Edward craned his neck and watched the strange eyes leave, finally relieved.
