Section 762 Donghakdo Uprising in Korea

Following Mr. Liu's suggestion, Mr. Deng returned the report on his support for independent statehood in Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico. Pen @ fun @ pavilion wWw. biqUgE怂 ļ½‰ļ½Žļ½†ļ½

When Zhu Jinglun saw these reports, he realized that the United States also had separatism, but if you think about it, you can understand that these southern states have fought against the northern United States as members of the Southern Alliance of the United States in the past, and maybe not all the locals want to build an independent state, but there are always some people who are dissatisfied with the status quo or history.

So he immediately approved, especially in favor of Deng Shicai's plan to organize the Black People's League to infiltrate the hinterland of the southern United States, and he suggested that Deng Shicai give priority to supporting such infiltration, and if necessary, even provide military cooperation for such a plan.

For example, if the U.S. military is concentrating its forces to suppress the local blacks, the Ming army can take the opportunity to launch a large-scale attack to support these rebellious blacks, and if the blacks flee into the areas controlled by the Ming army, they will give them strong support to help them recover their strength, provide them with military equipment, conduct military training, and even send officers as their advisers to help them enter the hinterland of the United States to recruit soldiers and occupy territory.

Zhu Jinglun thought of the power of China's later generations to fight local tyrants and divide the land, and he very much looked forward to how strong social forces this method would be when it was applied to the United States. Even told Deng Shicai not to patronize and take care of blacks, those whites at the bottom of the United States are also worth fighting for, some whites also owe a lot of debts, and their lives may not be much better than those of blacks, in short, anyone who has grievances against the previous American society, the Ming army should support it.

Zhu Jinglun believes that in the Gilded Age of the rapid development of American industry and the rise of hooligan tycoons, social problems such as the concentration of social wealth and the differentiation between the rich and the poor must have accumulated a large number of social contradictions, and these contradictions will be detonated, which is enough for Americans to drink a pot.

If it can trigger an anti-war movement in the United States during the Vietnam War, then the war will be easy to fight.

After issuing these opinions, Zhu Jinglun began to stop interfering in Deng Shicai's actions, and still told him that he had full powers, and the government would satisfy him as much as possible for everything needed for this battle.

Then Zhu Jinglun went to care about another matter, which was a very contradictory thing for him, because of historical experience, Zhu Jinglun rarely encountered problems that made him contradictory, and quite a few times, he was at ease, but in this matter, he was indeed full of contradictions, and he never knew how to deal with it.

This was the Donghakdo Uprising in Korea.

In January of this year, thousands of Dongxue disciples gathered at the Jeolla Provincial Shrine Post to launch the "Patriarch Avengement" campaign.

In 1860, in order to fight against the Western religion that spread into Korea, that is, the so-called Western Studies, Choi Jiyu founded the Eastern Studies, which integrated Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism and Korean folk beliefs, in opposition to Western Studies, commonly known as Eastern Studies.

Choe Ji-woo traveled around the country to propagate the ideas of Donghak, which caused a great repercussions, and the Joseon Kingdom was worried that he would take the opportunity to stir up trouble and form an anti-government force similar to that of the White Lotus Sect, so he was arrested in 1863 and executed the following year on charges of spreading a cult.

Although Cui Jiyu is dead, the doctrine he founded has become more influential, which is a common paradox in history, often a certain religious leader may not have a great influence when he is alive, once he dies, he spreads more and more evil, he is only a human being when he is alive, and he becomes a god when he dies.

The main reason is that the death of such a person is likely to concentrate all kinds of anti-government forces, and a large number of forces dissatisfied with the government want to use the banner of such a person, so their influence will become greater.

Thirty years after Choe Ji-woo's death, North Korea's Donghak-do has developed hundreds of thousands of believers, and over the years, Donghak-do has been fighting against the government from time to time, resisting donations and taxes, and so on, but most of them are helping ordinary people in the countryside to uphold justice, and have not yet developed into an all-out confrontation against the government.

It was not until the end of last year and the beginning of this year that the combination of the 30-year-old Donghak-do and the 30-year-old social contradictions in North Korea finally reached the brink of eruption.

In March 1893, Donghak-do believers gathered in the capital Seoul, "Fugak appeal" in front of the Gwanghwa Gate of the royal palace Gyeongbokgung Palace, and held constant demonstrations demanding that the government rehabilitate his ancestor Choi Ji-woo and recognize the legal status of Donghak-do, as well as expel foreigners (except Chinese) in Korea.

In April 1893, tens of thousands of Donghak-do believers held a large-scale rally in Boeun-gun, Chungcheong-do, and publicly unveiled the banner of "rejecting the Japanese and advocating righteousness", which was later forcibly dissolved by the Joseon government in a combination of soft and hard measures.

Although North Korea temporarily suppressed the actions of such non-governmental organizations dissatisfied with the invasion of Japan and foreigners, a large-scale anti-government action was brewing, and the overall situation of the Donghak uprising could not be changed.

Zhu Jinglun knew that it was this uprising that triggered the war between the Manchus and Japan, of course, Japan deliberately made excuses, and the war with the Manchus would break out sooner or later, this was just an opportunity, and if there was no such introduction, Japan would still find an excuse to start a war sooner or later, but it could be postponed for a few years.

Since 1890, Japan has used 60% of the national revenue to develop the navy and army, and since 1893, the Meiji Emperor has decided to allocate 300,000 yuan from his palace funds every year, and then take one-tenth of the salaries of civil and military officials to supplement the cost of shipbuilding.

This year has just set off the second round of the campaign to save money and build ships, and it is obvious that Japan feels that its preparations are still insufficient, and you must know that Li Hongzhang's Beiyang naval division is still very bluffing.

In this history, Li Hongzhang still built a Beiyang Naval Division of a comparable scale, compared with the history, and even surpassed, probably stimulated by the Ming Dynasty, the main ships of the Beiyang Naval Division are four, two German-built Dingyuan, Zhenyuan, and Li Hongzhang embezzled railway loans to order two more tonnage of 10,000-ton ironclad ships Anyuan and Fuyuan.

I have to say that the country is huge and has the benefits of a huge country, and there is a fund for the construction of warships at will, although the Manchu Qing Dynasty's finances are more difficult than in history, but they did not fight the costly battle of Xinjiang, saving tens of millions of taels of military expenses, plus the maritime threat encountered in history is greater, but the Ming Dynasty has repeatedly marched into the Bohai Bay, which has brought huge coastal defense pressure to the Manchu court, and Li Hongzhang has built a Beiyang naval division that is even larger than the scale in history.

Compared with the Beiyang Naval Division, the Japanese fleet has not changed much, it is still dominated by cruisers, the speed is relatively fast, and the artillery is relatively new. Because of the cost of an ironclad ship of millions at every turn, Japan can not afford it, because of the financial difficulties of the Manchu Qing Dynasty, Japan's finances are actually very difficult, due to the strong squeeze of the Ming Dynasty, the tea and raw silk industry, which originally allowed Japan to harvest most of the foreign exchange sources in history, has always been struggling.

With the general direction of the Meiji Restoration unchanged and the finances even tighter than in history, it was not easy for Japan to build a fleet dominated by armored cruisers.

Does such Japan really have the courage to go to war with the Manchus?

Zhu Jinglun was very skeptical that the Sino-Japanese War would break out again.

This is where he contradicts, because he really can't judge the good or bad of this matter, this battle in history is a battle to wake up the dream of the Manchu scholars, after this war, the Manchu literati doctors began to open up the atmosphere of the industry, in this history, due to the leading role of the Ming Dynasty, the Manchu scholars are more enlightened than in history, and the call to encourage the establishment of Westernization is higher, but it is limited to the government-run Westernization movement, even if it is a coal mine opened by the rich man in Shanxi, in fact, it is also joined by a large number of official shares, Although the government has sent people to supervise the commercial enterprises, although the commercial enterprises are run by the government, in fact, those supervisors have the absolute right to speak in the enterprises, and the phenomenon of enriching their own pockets is very common, and the rich people who are engaged in it have withdrawn their capital one after another, and those who cannot withdraw are basically no longer willing to continue to increase their capital.

If Japan does not wake up the literati and elites of the Manchu Qing Dynasty, even if the Ming Dynasty unifies the whole country, it will have to re-carry out modern enlightenment in the north and re-promote the enthusiasm of the northerners for industrialization, which will be really time-consuming and laborious, and may also cause resentment and bring about a crisis of national split.

However, if the Japanese thugs were allowed to come forward and strike a severe blow at the decadent ideas of the Manchu scholar class, after they were greatly shaken and the scholar class generally accepted the concept of introducing Western science and technology, the Ming Dynasty would have much less ideological resistance in unifying the whole country.

Moreover, Zhu Jinglun was still thinking about such a question: The reason why the Sino-Japanese War caused a strong reaction in the hearts of Shi Dafu was precisely because it was difficult for everyone to accept that such a small country as Japan, an "inferior country" that had been contemptuously called by the Chinese for thousands of years, could defeat the Qing Dynasty, and this was a strong humiliating stimulus.

At a time when the scholar class felt the most humiliated by the defeat of the Manchu government, and also when they were most dissatisfied with this regime, if at this time, the Ming could stand up and let them get rid of this humiliation, they would definitely have their hearts set on the Ming.

Therefore, the First Sino-Japanese War was actually the best opportunity for the Ming Dynasty to unify China.

Taking advantage of the defeat of the Manchu Qing Dynasty, Li Hongzhang signed a humiliating treaty, the whole country was opposed, the Empress Dowager Cixi *** Hongzhang calmed down the anger, the Manchu court was the most chaotic, and the social contradictions were the most intense, if the Ming suddenly came to the city of Beijing, it seemed very likely to force the Manchu rulers to give up power, just like the Yuan Shikai era forced the Empress Dowager Longyu.

At that time, Longyu was weaker than Cixi, but at this time, Daming was stronger than Yuan Shikai, and much stronger.

So this is not necessarily impossible.

In this way, Zhu Jinglun's biggest worry about the unification of the whole country was avoided, that is, the reality of bloodshed, and the only thing that worried Zhu Jinglun was how to deal with the possible collapse of land politics and politics after taking the opportunity to unify the whole country.

It is where he is contradictory, where he does not know how to choose.

So he decided to bet on two things, one bet on whether Japan would dare to take the opportunity to go to war, if Japan went to war, the Ming Dynasty would fully support Li Hongzhang, and then bet on whether Japan would win.

If Japan really went to war and won again, and the same demand for land cession and reparations also stimulated the people and scholars of the entire Manchu Qing Dynasty, Zhu Jinglun decided to seize this opportunity to unify the whole country.

Before the First Sino-Japanese War, the Ming Dynasty hoped to be able to solve the war with the United States, so that the Northern Expedition could be carried out at any time after the First Sino-Japanese War, and Zhu Jinglun believed that Deng Shicai should be able to solve the United States this year, not to directly destroy the United States, but to achieve a victory that was enough for the United States to make concessions.

On land, take Houston, and win a major battle or two, and at sea, the navy can successfully enter the Gulf of Mexico and maintain a presence in the eastern United States, either by armed confrontation or by dexterous swimming.

Zhu Jinglun believes that under such circumstances, as long as the Ming Dynasty is willing to withdraw from the territory of the United States, the Americans should accept to give the Ming immigrants the same rights and interests as European immigrants, even if they are stubborn.
