Section 89: Unexpected surprises
The Duke of Bemessi was bored in Locke Manor, he had been here for several days, but James, as the owner, had never returned, and there were half the people in Locke Manor, which made him very depressed.
"Sir Wayne." When he saw Sir Wayne walking through the cloister in front of the courtyard, the Duke of Bemessy couldn't help but stop him.
"Lord Duke." Sir Wayne heard the Duke of Bemessi's call, and hurried up to him, bowing to the great nobleman who was lying leisurely in the courtyard.
"Why hasn't the Baron come back yet?" The Duke of Bemessi yawned, his female companion held a bunch of grapes, and the two spent a leisurely afternoon tea on the chaise longue placed in the beautiful courtyard of the estate.
"No heralds have returned." Sir Wayne looked up at the manor gate blankly, then frowned and shook his head, wondering why he was faintly worried.
"Don't worry, James is a baron, a baron with a manor and three villages, will an army of three hundred men with knights attack a village?" The Duke of Bemessi seemed to see Sir Wayne's concern, and couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"But that's different, Bruce isn't the same as before." Sir Wayne did not brow at Duke Bermothy's comfort, and when he attacked Grinton, Bruce's heroic posture and the concerted efforts of the Grintons made him feel that Bruce was no longer the Bruce of the past, and he was even more worried about James attacking Grinton.
"Bruce, I've always been curious about the time when the baron followed my father on the expedition, and when he came back, he brought back Bruce, and it is inevitable that a man will be lonely when he is out on the expedition, but no one will bring an illegitimate child to the house, let alone an illegitimate child, why must he bring it back to admit his identity?" The Duke of Bemessi listened to Sir Wayne's words, and some things from the past also came to mind, and he took Sir Wayne's words and asked.
"I don't know, when I came to Locke Manor, Bruce and James were seven years old and one was eight, and the Baroness also fell ill and died." Sir Wayne came back to his senses and said to Duke Bemessey.
While the Duke of Bemessi and Sir Wayne were chatting, the Duke's female companion on the side was thoughtful, and the hand that picked the grapes remained in mid-air for a while, and when the Duke of Bemessi lost interest in the topic, he called her several times before she reacted.
"Where's Sir Wayne? Take me to him. There was a commotion from the gate of the manor, followed by the neighing of horses, and the panicked sounds of the servants, and Sir Wayne and the Duke of Bemessey looked at each other in amazement.
"Sir Wayne is no good." At that moment, an attendant of the manor ran in in a state of confusion, his body covered in dust and his tired face.
"What's going on?" Sir Wayne was taken aback at the sight of the squire, who recognized it as James' personal attendant.
"Oh no, Sir." At the sight of Sir Wayne, the squire burst into tears, and he fell to his knees and shouted.
"What the hell is going on, so alarmed in front of the Duke?" Sir Wayne frowned, and he angrily scolded the squire.
"It's the Baron, Lord Baron has been captured." The squire gasped, his eyes looked horrified, and he spoke to the Duke and the Sir as he spoke.
"What?" Duke Bemessi bounced up from the bed in surprise and knocked the grapes off his companion's hand, and Wayne was not as exaggerated as the duke, but he opened his mouth, his eyes full of doubt.
"You heard it right, they, the Glintons, captured Lord Baron, and they defeated us." The attendant lowered his head and said dejectedly.
"Nonsense, you have three hundred men, and knights and hussars, not to mention well-trained sergeants." The Duke of Bemessi felt that he had been fooled by this damned squire, and that in every way he looked at it, it should have been the complete subjugation of the Grintons.
"Get up and tell me what happened?" Sir Wayne strode up to the squire, pulled him up from the ground, and asked him.
"It was at noon yesterday, when our attack on the walls of Glinton failed, and Bruce led their men to rush out from behind the walls, and the serfs scattered in all directions, leaving only the sergeants and hussars to protect the baron." The squire was pulled up from the ground by Sir Wayne, and he swallowed desperately.
"Don't believe him, he must have been bought by the enemy, and a force with knights can't be defeated by a group of serfs." Duke Bemessey stood up and said angrily to Sir Wayne.
"No, no, Lord Duke, we did fail." The attendant said in alarm.
"How did it fail?" Sir Wayne asked, grabbing the squire by the collar and almost touching his face.
"Yes, that's right." The squire looked into Sir Wayne's eyes, and his mind returned to the moment before, when the light cavalry gathered and rushed in unison towards the Glintons' circle.
"Gray Law~~."
The light cavalry, spear in hand, charged en masse, the horses neighed, the hooves of the horses stepped on the ground, the ground shook slightly, and the Greentons watched intently, including Bruce, who felt that this time they might not be able to escape.
"Whoosh~~." Suddenly, locust-like arrows flew out of the grass on the other side and landed on the heads of the hussars.
"Oh~." Suddenly, the side was attacked by arrows, and the light cavalry was caught off guard, and the light cavalry with the arrow fell from their horses, and the original mount stepped on the master, and the charging formation that had finally been assembled was instantly messy.
"What's going on?" James watched in surprise at the sudden attack, and the moment of victory slipped away like this.
It wasn't just James who was equally surprised, even the Greentons were very surprised, they looked at the unexpected rain of arrows, and Bruce looked at the hill on the other side, wondering who had intervened in his war with James.
"My lord, is he back?" Blindfolded, Edward remembered someone, and he immediately reminded Bruce.
"He? Oh, yes, it's him back. Bruce was reminded by Edward that he remembered the man he had sent out.
"Kill~~." When the rain of arrows stopped, a man appeared on the hill, holding up the scimitar in his hand and shouting in the direction of James and the others.
"Kill~~." With his shout, a group of soldiers armed with spears and shields rushed out of the hill and attacked James and the others, as if the mountains were full of these strange soldiers.
"Stukov, this guy is back." Shield Splitter Danny breathed a sigh of relief as he grinned and said to the others.
"But what's the matter with those soldiers?" Eve asked curiously as she let go of her fingers controlling the strings.
"It's a mercenary!" Edward loosened the cloth tied around his eyes and tried not to look at the corpses around him, and when he saw the attacking group of soldiers, as a wandering knight, he knew very well what was going on with those soldiers.
James was shocked when he saw these mercenaries rushing over, his defeat had been decided, but this result was something he couldn't have imagined anyway, obviously he had an absolute advantage, but how could he lose so inexplicably.
"Lord Baron, I've come for you, let's go!" The loyal personal attendant hurriedly brought two horses, and he urged the dazed James to mount the horse, and then he himself rode up and followed James.
"Eve come with me." Not far away, Bruce saw James's actions, and he knew that his brother was about to flee, so he immediately shouted to Eve beside him, and then grabbed the horse of a light cavalry running around on the battlefield, and turned over and rode up.
"Your Lord." Eve grabbed Bruce's outstretched hand and jumped on horseback to sit behind Bruce.
"Take it." Seeing Eve sitting behind him, Bruce kicked the horse's belly with his heel and rushed in James' direction.
"Uh~." The war horse under the crotch charged violently, and Eve, who was caught off guard, put her whole body on Bruce's back, and two soft balls hit Bruce's back for no reason, which made Bruce stunned for a moment.
"Hurry up!" Finding that Bruce was stunned, Eve anxiously urged behind her back.
"Oh, drive it~~."
"Gray Law ~~~."
