Chapter 2 Jiamusheng Nanguo
Tea leaves have been discovered, so what is the name of this leaf? Shennong didn't know at first. But Shennong has his own opinions.
He did not make words exactly according to the six methods of pictograms, signifiers, ideologies, shapes, sounds, transpositions, and pretenses. After pondering and meditating for a few days, Shennong realized a way to make words. He believes that all words related to trees have the word "wood". But this kind of tree is only slightly taller than thatch, and it belongs to the shrub category, so add the word "grass" prefix. Shennong knows that this kind of leaf is used to boil soup for people to eat and relieve diseases, and it is good for people, so the word "people" must be there. In this way, it was decided: "grass", "people" and "wood" were combined into one "tea" character.
Shennong realized that people should walk among plants and trees, and people should conform to nature and live in harmony with nature. Since then, this leaf has been called "tea".
Unfortunately, after the word "tea" spread, the first person to know it actually wrote an extra horizontal in the middle of the word "tea" in a daze, which became the word "荼". Does the meaning of this horizontal represent the clouds and mist floating in the Jingshan Mountains? Unknown. But this word "荼" has been unconsciously used in several dynasties.
It was not until the Tang Dynasty that the tea saint Lu Yu changed this "Tu" to the current "tea". Then, Lu Yu wrote in the "Book of Tea": "Tea is drinking, originating from Shennong's." ”
The Book of Songs says: "Whoever says it is bitter, it is as sweet as a camelina." "It is known that camelina is very luscious, and it has been a famous vegetable for a long time. In March, the camellia blooms in the brook at the edge of the field. In the poem, the bitterness of "Tu" corresponds to the sweetness of "Camelina", which shows that tea has long been discovered and known to the ancients.
Jingshan, from ancient times to the present, has been a legend in the magnificent historical evolution. This tea, naturally, is no exception.
Since the beginning of Shennong's, in the Yunwu Mountain of Jingshan dense forest, the fragrance of mountain tea is permeated, people planting tea and making tea have become a trend, the ancestors have found wild tea tree species in this mountain for more than 2,000 years, and the history of local temple monks and mountain people planting tea began in the Tang and Song dynasties or earlier.
Therefore, an ancient "Tea Song" has been sung for generations in this stretching mountain:
Chaxi, Jiamusheng Nanguo.
Unmoved, unmoved, solid roots.
The branches and leaves are bright, and the immortals drink.
Morning dew, overnight in the dense forest.
Ancient trees are eternal.
Yunwu Mountain is located in the primeval forest, the mountain is high and the road is dangerous, and the forest covers the sun.
A family with a peasant surname took root in Longyan Village, deep in the mountains, and no one can say what year and month it was, but it was said that the grandfather of the ancestor grew tea in the mountains. The farmhouse has an ancient tea garden growing on this high mountain, among which there is a thousand-year-old tea tree, which is famous for its rarity and unique tea products.
This area is now Nanyi County, which belongs to Guxia Prefecture, and the mountains are sparsely populated.
Longyan Village, where the farmhouse is located, is located on the main road in and out of the mountain, which can pass through Sichuan, Shu, Xiangyang, and Jianghan Plain, and the geographical location is very unique. Not far away, Qinglian Town is diagonally opposite Longyan Village, and there is a small river in the middle, it is called Yinma River, and there is a simple wooden bridge on the river.
At the turn of spring and summer, when the river is large, people cross the river from the bridge; In autumn and winter, when the river is small, people can step on stones to the other side.
This Longyan Village is not so much a village, but an ancient village with the prototype of a small town. The main houses of the village are located on a boulder jutting out of the mountainside, which resembles a green dragon watching over the Yinma River, hence the name of Longyan Village.
Especially when the river is rising, if you look at the boulder from a distance under the impact of the rapids, it seems to be cruising away with the river; If it is the dry season, the boulder is like a coiled dragon, majestic.
Since the Tang Dynasty or earlier, villagers in the area of Longyan Village in Qinglian Town began to plant tea trees. Longyan Village is very small, and it can be as small as a cigarette to go from beginning to end.
The village flourished because of the tea market, and slowly formed an ancient street paved with bluestone.
On both sides of the street are the houses of ordinary people, all wooden structures and small green tile wooden houses, all of which are made of wood, and there are almost no sand and stone and earthen walls, and there are few stones except for the wall foundations, and the roofs are all black tiles.
Most of the wooden houses in the village are beautifully detailed, with various animals lifelike on the wooden window grilles, and the stone slabs used to support the beams and pillars have four sides and eight sides, each side carved like an ornament.
Nong Kaijia has reached the end of his life, and he is lying on the hospital bed, and the warm scene is constantly shaking in front of him, as if it was yesterday.
The mountains are foggy and damp.
This old road, for Nong Kaijia, is not only a walking road, but also a road full of hardships. Looking up, the moss-covered alleys and the dark green dominated his vision.
On the stone slab, the grooves of different shades have already been stepped on, and they enter along the alley, some of them hang straw shoes under the eaves, and some hang lanterns, which looks very pretentious. The scattered shops in the village and the red lanterns that can be seen in Qinglian Town across the river are contrasting.
Every night, it is poetically called "night market fireflies".
When tea flourished, the village began to prosper. Nong Kaijia is too familiar with everything here. He walked in and out countless times, on uneven stone paths, or through narrow gravel roads, with wooden rafters of farmhouses, green grass and wildflowers growing in the corners of the houses. When he saw the vegetable field on the side of the road, it was cut out of patches by pumpkin seedlings, pepper branches, and green cabbage leaves, and he said to himself: It is really a treasure of feng shui.
Looking at the three or five brocade chickens pacing leisurely pecking, and the tea trees growing in front of and behind the house, he will also be fascinated by the scene in front of him.
Jingshan is idyllic and poetic, anyway, that's what Nong Kaijia thinks.
Nong Kaijia has been lying in the hospital bed for some time.
At this time, Nong Wangnian saw that his father was good and bad, and his heart was like a weighing weight, and when he was in a hurry, he was wandering around the house without purpose.
Recently, Nong Wangnian has not been in the energy to do anything, he is very worried about his father's condition, afraid of deterioration, so he is restless.
Sometimes, when Nong Wangnian was alone in the hall, he kept chanting: "Father, your old man will get better soon!" ”
Nong Wangnian's wife secretly wiped her tears on the side, she didn't dare to make a loud noise.
Nong Jingtang often ran to his grandfather's room and kept calling "grandpa".
Nong Kaijia stroked Nong Jingtang's head and comforted: "Grandson, grandpa is fine, it's just a little uncomfortable." ”
Nong Jingtang's eyes widened and he nodded vigorously.
Nong Kaijia had an ancestor, called Nong Shangde, who was in his prime at that time, and he went to the Yunwu Mountain area to pick tea for his employer.
I don't know how many years ago, it was passed down from generation to generation in farmers' homes, and it was also said in the mouths of local people.
At the end of the tea season, he came to a cliff and stone wall, where the ancient trees were inaccessible, and suddenly he found several strange tea trees among the stone walls, the branches were luxuriant, verdant, and the buds and leaves were densely covered with a layer of white hair, shining silver.
Nong Shangde is proficient in the way of tea making, and is very expert in distinguishing the advantages and disadvantages of tea varieties, and knows that the tea tree in front of him is an extremely rare and precious variety. So, he climbed up despite the dangers, and then picked fresh leaves, carefully fried them into tea, took them with him, and went down the mountain to go home.
He was in a hurry, so he walked into a tea shop at the foot of the mountain to rest, took out the camellia he carried with him and brewed it, poured boiling water, and saw a layer of white foam floating in the teacup, just like auspicious clouds fluttering, and like golden lotus flowers blooming. The smell fills the house and lasts for a long time.
Seeing this, the tea guests were surprised and praised in unison, good tea! What a fragrant tea!
Later, Nong Shangde returned to the mountains to look for his tea trees among the cliff walls, but the peaks turned around and he was nowhere to be found. Locals believe that this is a "divine tea" that cannot be recovered.
After this story was passed down for several years, someone found several tea trees in the Dragon Maiden Cave of Yunwu Mountain, which is said to have been born from the daughter of the Dragon King of the East China Sea. These tea trees are exactly the same as the tea trees described by Nong Shangde at that time, so everyone naturally calls them "divine tea".
It is said that the ancient tea trees that grew in Tianxin Rock were propagated from the divine tea.
Now, the farmer's tea business is in the hands of Nongwangnian, and he is urgently needed to spread the leaves! He was anxious too!
Today, Nong Wangnian took the time to come to the tea mountain, brought home-brewed wine, fruits and vegetables, prayed sincerely in front of the ancient tea trees, and specially set off a firecracker. One is for his father's illness to recover as soon as possible, and the other is for the tea industry to get out of the predicament and usher in hope!
After praying, looking at the mountains of tea trees, his heart seemed to be temporarily soothed.
