Chapter Ninety-Nine: Tea is Like a Lion's Head

Frustrated out of Jing Mountain.

Outside the north gate of Nanyi County, along the side of the Fu River, there is a mountain like the head of a lion, which seems to have a roaring appearance towards the sky. People are used to calling it Lion Rock. The frustrated water winds right at the foot of Lion's Head Mountain.

The small plain formed by the impact of the Fu River, the villages are scattered, the land is fertile. The name of this place is Anlu.

Extending from the north hill of the city, several small hills are intertwined, the slope is steeper and steeper the further north, the mountain is gradually raised, about three miles, it is to the Lion Rock. Danxia landform, red sand stone stands, occasionally a few bushes of grass and trees, a group of green fields and red rock scenery.

The lion-like mountain is like a river of drinking water, and its head roars in the sky, looking at it from afar, it has a momentum that is about to come out. Every time the sun rises in the east, the stone wall is glowing, the cypress is green, and the water is sparkling, as if you are in the world of red, white and green oil paintings. On the other side of the river, Mingfengxian Mountain looms.

The undulating slopes of Lion Rock are lush and green, like a natural paradise. It is not an easy task to go down the mountain to the Fu River. Only a stone staircase connects to it.

In the summer, this is the place where Nong Tianyi often passes, at this time, after he crossed a small hill, he went north out the back door, and after a few steps, there was a stone staircase down the river. The stone ladder winds along the mountain, almost parallel to the mountain, nearly 60 degrees of inclination downward, to the vacant place is the cliff, people walk on it and shake it, extremely steep. If you are afraid of heights, it will be difficult to go down to the bottom of the river.

The stone stairs are extremely steep on both sides. Due to the erosion of wind, frost, rain and snow for many years, it looks scarred. Only the strange shape of the ladder body is intertwined with the green of the grass and trees, which is particularly conspicuous. Wild grasses and shrubs are luxuriant, and the stone stairs are often hidden in dense places. People go up and down the stone ladder, passing through the dense grass and trees, and a fragrance of grass and trees goes straight to the bottom of the heart. When going down the stone stairs, if you reach the cliff, because the person's body is inclined to the mountain, you need to hold the vine branches tightly with both hands, otherwise it will be very dangerous if you fall.

Every time Nong Tianyi went down to the bottom of the river, it was a difficult and happy thing. But he never tires of it.

After going down the stone stairs, there is a diversion ditch at the foot of the mountain, which flows along the mountain. It is said to have been repaired during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, and it leads directly to the Jiuzi River upstream. The ditch is crystal clear, and occasionally a large carp is seen swaying against the edge of the ditch, as if no one is around, and then plunging into the grass. The splash hits the rock wall, creating a crisp sound of water. The ditch is on the bank of the Fu River, like a curved eyebrow, delicate and vivid.

Crossing the small stone bridge of the ditch, there is a huge rock on the edge of the water, and the shade is covered with green moss, like an old man's head. There are also a few small inlets next to it, which naturally form the word "concave", which is an excellent swimming bath. The red rock reflects the blue water and stands on the waterfront. The river crashes into a deep pool of water at the rocks, and the rocks are natural diving platforms. Under the shade of thick willows and pine trees, the white and shiny pebbles are more crystal clear in shallow water. The mountains are reflected in the flowing water, and the light and shadow, the water waves and the mountains reflect each other.

As soon as Nong Tian said, looking up to the sky, the white clouds fell into his eyes. Hitting the river can wipe out the hot summer.

On the other side of the river are farmhouses, paddy fields with green paddies and smoke curling from cooking. At the foot of the mountain, there are several tea plantations on the slopes of the river, and Nong Tian chatted with several tea farmers when he saw them busy on the tea hills.

When asked the name of his tea, a tea farmer said, "Our tea is called Lion's Head." ”

As soon as Nong Tian heard about it for the first time, he asked why.

The tea farmer said: "One is because of the name of the place, and the other is that this tea is brewed like a lion's head, standing tall and tall, with thick hair, and a mighty momentum." After saying that, he looked a little proud.

Nong Tian nodded.

The tea farmer also said: "The ancients paid a lot of attention to the water quality when making tea. We brew it with spring water from the back mountain to have such an effect. ”

Nong Tianyi said "uh-huh" twice, and remembered a poem: "The new water is spicy, and the old is sweet." ”

Yuan Mei, who likes to write "shepherd boys riding oxen and catching cicadas", is also a tea lover, and attaches the most importance to water quality.

He has his own set of opinions, which is that in order to make good tea, you must first store good water.

Yuan Mei also thinks that mountain spring water is the best, but he lives in Nanjing, which is too far away from Wuxi Huiquan to bring water back and forth. So he retreated to the next best thing, preparing and storing his own rainwater and snow water at home.

Yuan Mei thinks that it is very convenient to collect rain and snow water, and it is necessary to store it for a period of time before making tea. He also summed up the experience: "New water, spicy water. Aged water, sweet water".

In the Qing Dynasty, the status of snow water was improved, because mountain spring water was not readily available, and the conditions such as geographical restrictions were too harsh, so the convenience of snow water was reflected. And there is a certain pattern for the collection and storage of snow water.

Cooking tea and making snow is already very particular. The timing of the snow collection is important, and it is important to pick up the snow only after the snow has fallen half an inch thick, first scraping off the top layer of snow and then taking more than one-fifth of the snow from the ground.

In addition, choose snow on rocks or ponds, rather than huts, haystacks, and mountain trails, as they tend to pick up odors. The snow collected in this way is very clean, which is more suitable for cooking tea.

At this time, Nong Tianyi looked at the other side of the river, the downstream of the river is Anludu, the ferry boat sometimes rows across the river, and the people who cast nets and fish move along the river, sometimes there is a little surprise. Surrounded by mountains and wilderness, under the nourishment of a river, it is more quiet and far-reaching, and it also benefits from this plainness and leisure, adding infinite elegance to life. Nature's masterpieces are always superior to man.

Occasionally, the red-billed acacia bird could not fly due to the dense fog soaking its feathers, and landed in the grass by the river. The red-billed acacia bird has an olive-green upper body, a pale yellow face, two wings with obvious reddish-yellow wing spots, a milky yellow belly, and a bright plumage, which is very endearing.

Whenever he encounters an injured red-billed bird, Nong Tianyi is extra careful and releases the lovesick bird into nature. He believes that lovesickness, things and I are also in love. Everything and leaf in nature are spiritual beings.

On rainy days, swimming in the Fu River is a special pleasure. The rain is like a big bead and a small bead falling on a jade plate, the rain and moisture quietly dissolve in the river, the water mist and the rain fog seem to deepen each other's emotions, and heaven, earth and man gradually become one. In an instant, the surface of the river became cramped, and the banks seemed to lose their center of gravity, slowly tilting and swaying under the impact of the rain. The canopy also dimmed and drooped, giving people the feeling of being in a huge black hole.

Perhaps, this is both a repression and a psychological release.

Because of his love of swimming, when summer comes, Nong Tianyi often goes to the Fu River to chop the waves, and does not return home until it is discredited.

Just when you are worried about the darkness, hope will shine somewhere.

Sure enough, there was a family not far away, and an ancient willow tree fell next to the earthen house between the mountain beams.

The flowing green, sturdy body of the tree stretched out to the other side of the river, as if it had flown away.

The scenery of a section of the canyon is like a beautiful and steep picture, slowly opening up in the turn of Bifeng Road. This river, hidden in the deep mountains, sang in a low voice or sang passionately, and plunged headlong into the Yangtze River not far away.

The mountains are undulating, the two mountains are sandwiched, and the mountain wind carries the moisture of the river, which moistens this tea garden to be delicate, vigorous and fragrant.

The tranquility of a mountain and a river, the leisure of a house and a scene. Back to the mountains and water, such as the river meandering, occasionally, one or two households, the chaimen is empty......

In the darkness of the night, Nong Tianyi returned home under the intersection of sweat and wetness.
