The deep pool suddenly appears under the mouth of the gorge a few zhang, after careful study, it turned out to be the outlet of a dark river, and people say "Longtankou".

In the water season, the water of the dark river gushes out from the mouth of Longtan, and the magnificent scenery is natural.

In the dry season, the clear water at the mouth of Longtan is like a mirror, and the dark river is gushing, and there is a mysterious sound.

Looking up, on the rock wall of the gorge mouth, the ancients carved the four big characters of "Wuling Gorge Mouth", but the handwriting is blurred, and it is not clear when and who carved it. Since the ancients named it "Wuling Gorge", it should have its historical origin.

Although the core area of Wuling Gorge is only hundreds of meters long, the stone carvings, stone buildings, stone villages come out immediately, the dark river, the karst cave, the gorge in the gorge, the waterhole reflect each other, the rock pit, the strange stone, the dangerous wall change out, it is rare for the same kind of canyon.

According to investigation, the cultural landscape of Wuling Gorge was built during the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty (1853). The rock walls of the gorge are steep and vine forests are thick. On the left side of the gorge is Elephant Mountain, and on the right side is Lion Mountain. The north side of the entrance is a "V" shaped valley, and there are stone carvings such as "Wuling Gorge Mouth" and "Mountain High and Water Chief" on the rock walls on both sides of the gorge.

The lower part of the rock wall at the mouth of the gorge is an "A" shaped dark river outlet, and the dark river water slowly flows into the calm blue pool in front of the cave entrance, trembling like a string sound, as if it is still about to flow.

Entering the gorge to 200 meters, you will arrive at the side of "Baishou Pond", the water of the pond is deep and turquoise, bright and shining. On the right rock wall about two zhang high from the pond, there is engraved with the word "longevity" in the circular seal book. Turn left again, a natural shrine is placed on the rock wall on the right, and the middle inscription is engraved with the words "gradually getting better".

The further you go, the more secluded the scenery becomes, along the way, you can see the Triassic marine thin-bedded limestone, layer upon layer, the rock layer gradually changes from inclined to horizontal, and then mutates into a folded rock layer, and a "cobblestone pit" appears. The pit is about 5 meters in diameter and 2 meters deep, with an upright perimeter and a flat bottom, without accumulation, and its origin is puzzling in a wadi valley where there are no traces of waterfalls or falls.

After rounding the cobblestone pit, the Moon Cave can be seen not far away, named because it resembles the first quarter moon. From the bottom of the gorge to the mouth of the cave, it is dozens of meters high, which is quite steep. Bitan in front of the hole, unfathomable, green and translucent, the cliff on the edge of the pond is steep and stands the walled gate, engraved on the "looking for the deer door" three official book big characters, the stone base wall, has shrubs and vines to cover, looming.

Because the pool is too deep, it is impossible to go up from the valley floor to the moon cave. They then zigzagged and detoured, and only by climbing up from the rock ridge more than two feet high on the right side of the pond could they approach the Moon Cave. Approaching forward, the rock walls on both sides gradually close, only allow one person to pass, a round stone stuck in the middle of the stone crack, then penetrate the stone crack and enter, the hole is suddenly wide and bright, the hole contains holes, many stalactites.

The moon cave is about more than 100 meters long, there is a circular stone fortress wall in the hole, there is a house in the middle, all are stone buildings, built according to the situation, small and chic. The one on the left side has a total of four floors, called "waiting for the moon building"; The one on the right side has two floors, called "Pillow Cloud Cave". The two stone buildings are more than 50 meters above the ground, such as the interest of the fairy mountain Qiongge, and there is a sense of fluttering immortals. It can be seen that the ingenuity of the ancients is unique.

There is a stone tablet in the cave, the inscription is "Little Taoyuan Record", the preface and the poem, a total of 224 words, concisely describe the scenery of Wuling Gorge and Moon Cave.

This stele was engraved in September of the fifth year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (1856), and the author of the inscription was Yang Ruping, who called himself "Ink Idiot". As the stele says: "The structure of the floor is fine and neat, and the Dan ladder is a hundred steps."

What's even better, there is a pool of clear water in the moon cave, which does not dry up all year round. What's even more incredible is that the Moon Cave and the surrounding poplar holes, terracotta caves, and sinkhole holes are connected with each other to form a huge underground corridor of "four holes in one".

Nonglu explained that the ancient road at the steep rock next to the Moon Cave was originally an ancient official road, and it was necessary to climb to the top to reach the flat road, and 500 meters to the east is the Tiankeng Cave.

The ground around the sinkhole is funnel-shaped, inclined to the center of the pit, with a width and depth of about 100 meters. From the hidden and dangerous road of the vine forest, spiral down along the steep pit wall, pass through a walled wall and walled gate, you can reach the bottom of the thorny sinkhole, and then through a walled wall and stone gate at the bottom of the pit, the dream maze inside the sinkhole is placed in front of you, giving people unexpected surprises.

There are several steps of stone stepped platform on the inner side of the gate at the bottom of the pit. In the labyrinth, there is a hole in front of the left, and a few meters outside is the entrance of the Terracotta Cave, which is fantastic.
