Chapter 10: Cold Sweat
"You two, give me an explanation!"
Carl whispered to George and Fred beside him.
At this point, the competition has begun, and as a special guest, Carl is placed in the most prominent position in the classroom as the mascot.
George and Fred sat next to Carl as referees and organizers.
"Carl, you can't always be alone in the library, and this is the perfect opportunity for you to meet new people. ”
George pointed to him, and Karl noticed that there were several strangers at the guest of honor, in addition to him and the twins.
"Hello, Carl. I've always wanted to see you, but I didn't have the chance. ”
An ordinary-looking middle-aged man closest to George walked past George and reached out to Carl, who had to shake his hand.
"I'm Nicolai Jokowi. ”
"Hello. Carl said listlessly.
"I've always wanted to thank you, thank you so much for entrusting us with the management of Hearthstone. ”
Carl finally came to his senses, and his voice raised an octave, "You are the one who mailed Nick and Louise the monthly dividends?"
Nikolai Jokowi was a little baffled, but nevertheless said: "If you are referring to your parents, I think so." ”
My day!
Nima, the culprit has finally been found.
For the next ten minutes or so, Nicolai Joko spent the next ten minutes under Karl's gritted gaze, making him uncomfortable.
Finally, the first game was over, and Nicolas flew away from the guest of honor.
The entire large classroom also became lively in an instant, and all the little wizards, whether they were contestants or spectators, were discussing the game just now.
"Oh oops! Malfoy made the cut!" Grumble Ron.
Harry noticed this, too, and saw Malfoy triumphantly showing off his orange cards to the people around him.
Although he is still learning how to play Hearthstone, it doesn't stop him from liking the card game and understanding the value of orange cards.
"He won with money, which is not a skill. Harry said as he looked at Malfoy.
"yes!" Ron shook his fist hard, "I'm too familiar with the rules to know any more, if I have half of his cards, no, a third of the cards, I'll definitely win him!"
With that, Ron began to look around unconsciously, and as he looked, he said, "I don't know how Carl's technique is, I mean, although he invented this game, but ...... Look, Carl is down!"
Karl stepped down from the guest of honor, he had already been invited, and now that the task was completed, he was ready to leave.
At this time, the young wizards gathered around each contestant in twos and threes, either encouraging or congratulating, and more discussing the way they had just played, and few people noticed Carl.
Carl was able to easily weave his way through the crowd, but when he stepped out of the classroom and into the hallway, he was stopped.
"Carl, wait a minute!" was Hermione.
Carl turned to see Hermione's unkempt brown hair and familiar face.
"Didn't you swear not to talk to me?" Karl wondered.
Hermione's face suddenly swollen red, and it was obvious that she really wanted to say something to Carl, but Carl's words blocked her from holding back all the words she wanted to say.
It took a long time for Hermione's face to return to normal, and she craned her neck and said in an almost contemptuous tone, "I didn't want to talk to you, but I picked up a card of yours!"
As she spoke, she handed Carl a Hearthstone card.
"My cards?"
Carl looked at the fireball in his hand in surprise, and then at Hermione.
When he first made Hearthstone, he kept a set for himself to treasure, but he thought he would throw his treasure all over the place.
And the set he left to treasure is all gold cards, and this one is obviously ordinary.
"It can't be that you bought the card pack yourself and opened it repeatedly, right?" Karl asked.
"You can send Harry or Ron, they'll be happy to ask for it. ”
"I'm not going to play with such boring stuff!"
Hermione said dismissively.
"I picked up this card at the door of the girls' bathroom this morning. ”
"Then why do you say it's mine?" Karl wondered.
"This card has your name written in invisible ink, don't believe it!"
Hermione took out her wand and pointed at the cards in Carl's hand.
"Hurry up!"
"Wait!"
Carl snapped, he had a hunch that something bad would happen if Hermione pronounced the spell.
But it was too late.
Before he could stop it, Hermione's magic had already taken effect.
For a moment, an indescribable shiver enveloped Carl's body.
A flash of green light shot out of the card.
Not good!
Carl jerked forward, pushing Hermione away.
The killing curse passed between the two of them, hitting the wall of the corridor with a "pop" sound, blasting a small crater in the wall.
Karl didn't care about anything else, and quickly scanned his eyes around.
Fortunately, the hallway was empty.
He leaned out half of his body again and glanced into the large classroom, where everyone was still discussing the game just now, and no one was looking at the door.
By the time he was done, Carl's back was soaked in cold sweat.
"Thank you, Carl. ”
Hermione's face turned pale with fright.
I don't know what kind of magic it is, but judging from the effect of it hitting the wall, if it is hit, it is definitely not a good thing.
She could see clearly just now that the magic was coming at her.
This is also the reason why Carl was scared out of a cold sweat.
If that killing curse was directed at him, he wouldn't have done it at all, but the point was that the killing curse was directed at Hermione.
In just a split second, Carl figured it out.
Hermione had picked up the card because someone had made her pick it up, so that she could discover Cal's name with the invisibility spell written on it.
She would then ask Carl to return the cards to him, and the man was sure that Karl would be confused, and Hermione's reaction was in his calculations.
Carl looked down at the Hearthstone card in his hand, the center of the entire card had been burned through, and the traces of magic on it were not noticeable at all.
"Hermione, you've used the Transfiguration Charm on it before, haven't you?" asked Karl.
Hermione nodded, the girl was still a little frightened, but it was much better than it had just been.
"And then my name shows up on it?"
"Yes. Hermione nodded.
Yes.
Carl secretly confirmed his suspicion that the man had sealed a Killing Curse on the card, but it would only be triggered when Carl was around, and the Killing Curse was aimed at the person who cast the spell on the card, not Carl himself.
It looks like Carl is casting a killing curse on someone else!
So ruthless!
Someone actually calculated him and wanted him to be charged with killing with a killing curse!
Voldemort!
Carl gritted his teeth.
Wrong!
Karl immediately dismissed the speculation.
There was no reason for Voldemort to do that.
At this time, Voldemort was alone, all his former subordinates had left him, and Quirrell, who was used to possess him, was a school teacher and had many constraints in all aspects.
Karl was pretty much the only being Voldemort could find that could help him, which is why the latter went to such great lengths to woo him.
Besides, there is an unbreakable oath between the two, this kind of magic is not something that can be fooled by this kind of cleverness, once Voldemort really wants to plot against him, he must be the first to die, and even the Horcruxes can't stop it.
It's the guy from last semester!
It had to be him!
Karl shivered instantly!
This man is still lurking in the school.
He counted every reaction he had to make to Hermione's meeting, and even knew about the deal between him and Voldemort.
In an instant, cold sweat soaked Carl's clothes again.
