"The so-called millions of corpses, in addition to the war dead, are the civilians slaughtered by Zeng Guofan inside and outside the city." Zeng Guofan was willing to be a lackey of the Manchurians and slaughtered the people of Tianjing, and was called "Zeng Shaved Head" at that time, and this black spot could not be washed off. The captives ranged from men and women, young and old, from newborn babies to 80-year-old toddlers, from pregnant women to girls between the ages of 10 and 18. The Qing army handed over these women and girls to a group of hooligans to rape, and then dragged them back and put them to death. Some of the young girls, the executioner turned them over and faced the sky, tore off their clothes, and then cut them straight into the chest with a knife. These executioners did the caesarean section without hurting the internal organs, and reached into the chest to pull out a steaming heart. The victims stared straight into the eyes and watched them do such inhumane things. There are also many nursing babies who have also been taken from their mothers' arms by caesarean section. Many of the young male captives were not only disemboweled, but also tortured, and the executioners cut off pieces of their flesh, sometimes into their mouths, sometimes into their mouths, and sometimes threw them into the noisy spectators.

…… How can God forgive Britain for participating in the war against the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, but how can he forgive it for participating in the frenzied massacre of defenceless women and weak and ignorant children? What is the money we squeezed from the poor British people to help the blood-stained thugs fight in China? Is it for the sake of getting gold from China?!

The perpetrators and culprits of the Tianjing Catastrophe were Zeng Guofan, his brother Zeng Guoquan, and his close generals. Zeng Guoquan "also received tens of millions of funds from this", "except for a few services, the rest are at home." ”

Even Zeng Guofan himself had to admit that since the five seasons, there has been no more life than today. After Li Hongzhang became the acting governor of Liangjiang, he also felt that "there is no way to deal with the aftermath" in the face of this dilapidated scene, saying that "an empty city, surrounded by barren fields", "no house, no people, no money is in charge, and Ge Ju should also be tied here", as if he lived in the old after a hundred years. Its dilapidation can be imagined.

The famous massacre of the Hunan army was Jiujiang, Anqing, and Tianjing, and the Huai army surrendered in Suzhou, and the most important thing was Zeng Guofan's disregard for human life. He said in the "Letter of Zeng Guofan to Li Yuandu": There is no confusion in the saying that killing good people in vain is afraid of hurting Yinzhi, cutting grass and cutting grass, so that the people are afraid of me, far more than thieves!

This passage clearly shows that the lives of innocent people are like a grass in the eyes of Zeng Guofan, and he just wants to disregard human lives and kill people like cutting grass.

Zeng Guoquan, the ninth brother of Zeng Guofan, was known for his ruthlessness in the Hunan army, but there was still a trembling conscience: after the capture of Anqing, Zeng Guoquan had killed tens of thousands of "prisoners of war" (many of whom were ordinary people) in one day, and finally killed "unbearable", Zeng Guoquan wrote to Zeng Guofan and said: Kill too many people, fear of retribution; Zeng Guofan replied in a frenzied manner:

"Since you have already led the troops, you think that you want to kill thieves, why should you regret killing more? Even if he plots to destroy, there is no reason to regret killing more ("The Book of the Family of Zeng Guofan" of "The Book of the Family of Zeng Guo" of "The Book of June 12th of the 11th Year of Xianfeng and the Book of Guoquan Guobao"). ”

Zeng Guofan's mouth is full of benevolence, righteousness and morality, but his hands are full of blood, and he can still get the nickname of Wenzheng after his death, which is really a kind of irony.
