Chapter XXVIII
"Knock! knock!"
Carl knocked on the door to the principal's office.
"Please come in. ”
The door opened automatically, and Carl walked in, only to walk with a limp yesterday.
"Carl, what's wrong with your leg. Dumbledore stood up.
"I practiced apparition on the edge of the Forbidden Forest and accidentally split apart, Professor. Carl smiled sheepishly.
"It's not a wise move to practice transfiguration alone, Carl. Helping Carl to the nearest chair and sitting down, Dumbledore waved his wand, and Cal's trouser leg was sliced open, revealing a large piece of flesh on it.
"Bear with it, it hurts a little. ”
Dumbledore pointed his wand at Carl's wound, muttering words in his mouth.
Carl immediately felt a piercing pain, but he didn't show it, still with a smile on his face.
It's just that Dumbledore was bowing his head and chanting a spell, not aware of this scene.
In a matter of moments, the flesh on Carl's calves grew, and there was no difference from before.
"Thank you, Professor. Karl thanked Dumbledore and got up from his chair.
"Carl, you didn't come to me to share the work for Madam Pomfrey, did you?" Dumbledore's eyes lit up.
Karl nodded, hesitated, and said, "I think, there is ...... between me and Voldemort."
"Yes, Voldemort. Dumbledore sighed, "You've found it yourself, haven't you?"
Dumbledore walked slowly to the windowsill and looked at the black night sky, "Carl, I have to say, I underestimated you, all the time. As much as I've tried to overestimate, I'm underestimating you. ”
"So, Voldemort is mine?" Karl said uncertainly.
"No, Carl. Dumbledore shook his head, "Voldemort is not your father. ”
"Professor, what is he?" Karl asked.
Dumbledore was silent for a moment, "In a sense, he created you. ”
"Creation?" Cal looked at Dumbledore in shock.
"Yes, creation. Dumbledore nodded, "All along, Voldemort has been seeking eternal life. He did a lot of things for this, a lot of very terrible things, some of them succeeded, some of them failed. ”
"And you, Carl. You are one of many attempts in Voldemort's plan for immortality. ”
"So, I'm a failure?" said Carl thoughtfully.
Dumbledore shook his head, "No, Carl. Even for Voldemort, being able to witness the birth of a life with his own eyes is definitely not a failure. If you have to say it, you should count it as a beautiful mistake. ”
Karl asked, "But Professor, why did I survive?"
Dumbledore laughed, "You've got the point, Carl. ”
"Voldemort has no mercy, and I think you who frequent the forbidden books should know why. But, for his own masterpiece, even Voldemort was not willing to destroy him, so—"
"So, he kept me alive, didn't he, Professor?"
"Yes, Carl. Dumbledore nodded, "Nine years ago, I asked Professor McGonagall to take you out and place you in the home of a young couple who were unable to have children. ”
"I guess you should be living well there, aren't you?" Dumbledore winked playfully.
Carl smiled. He did live well, in every sense of the word.
The two continued to talk for a while, and Carl got up to take his leave.
Dumbledore personally sent Carl out of the Headmaster's office.
Just before leaving the door, Dumbledore seemed to notice something, and suddenly asked, "Karl, do you have anything else to tell me?"
Carl stopped, looked at Dumbledore, smiled and shook his head, "No, Professor. ”
"Nope. ”
With that, Carl turned to leave, closing the door to the headmaster's office.
After Carl left, a woman spoke in the portrait of the previous headmasters on the wall, "Do you see something, Albus?"
Dumbledore shook his head, "I can't read his mind anymore, Dalyse. ”
He sighed, slowly walked back to his desk, took out an old photo from the drawer, touched the blurred avatar on it, and whispered, "This kid really looks like you." ”
With that, Dumbledore turned his gaze out the window.
Looking at the bright sunlight outside, Dumbledore was a little distracted.
He muttered, "What the hell are you trying to do? Why do you want to break from prison?"
......
For the vast majority of Hogwarts students, today is a nightmare day once a year, with final exams coming.
In this respect, Harry Potter owes Voldemort to the fact that he always managed to get him out of the way.
But for Carl, it didn't matter.
Final exams, especially in the first year, were as easy for him as eating and drinking, even for the most difficult History of Magic, which was recognized by all students.
Coming out of the exam room, rejecting the requests for answers from those around him, Carl went to the library alone to return the last book he had borrowed.
It was a copy of The Theory of Magic, and Carl had one of his own, but he borrowed it from the library anyway.
Even if it's the same book, other people's and your own feel completely different when you read it.
Carl didn't rush to return the book, but sat down in a chair in the reading room and opened it again.
Just flipping it over, he saw the passage he had read countless times before:
"If you cast a spell with a vicious mindset, there is a high probability that you will cast dark magic. If you cast a spell with a positive attitude, most of the magic released will have a positive effect. On the other hand, if the caster recites the Dark Arts spell with a positive attitude, he will most likely not succeed, and even if he succeeds, the effect will be weak, and similarly, if the caster uses a vicious mindset to release magic with a positive effect, it will definitely not have a good result, and it will even eat the caster himself. ”
Carl had read this passage many times while he was still in Diagon Alley, and at the time he thought it was a silent curse.
However, Carl had a special kind of inspiration for this sentence at the time, but after being interrupted by Lucius Malfoy, he could no longer remember it.
But now, he can finally determine what that inspiration was:
Since the state of mind can determine the effect of spellcasting, is it possible to think that -
A wizard who has a strong enough will to convince himself that his actions are noble and just, then theoretically, a dark wizard can also release the Patronus Charm, and a white wizard can also release the Killing Curse intact?
Further, if the Killing Curse is used without a Evil Thought, does the Killing Curse not cause damage to the caster's soul, or at least reduces that damage?
However, the release of the killing curse itself requires evil thoughts, which contradicts the previous ones.
It doesn't seem to work.
Carl smiled.
He opened his bag, pulled out his notebook from it, and wrote the following title on it:
A little improvement to the Killing Curse
On the Reduction of the Negative Effect of Self-Deception on Black Magic"
......
"Fourth, Gryffindor!
Not surprisingly, Gryffindor came out on top. A new record was even set this year, the lowest score ever recorded by Gryffindor.
"Well done, buddy!" George and Fred rejoiced, drawing angry glances from the Gryffindors.
Soon, the final exam results came out, and there was no doubt that Carl took first place in all subjects, in the form of perfect marks for all.
......
The Hogwarts Express came to a stop at Platform Nine and Three-Quarters.
"Carl!
Carl walked out of the platform, where Nick and Louise were already waiting for him.
Also there were the Weasleys.
"Hello, Mr. Weasley, ma'am. ”
"Hello, Carl!" Mrs. Weasley said with a smile.
"Thank you for the toffee and sweater, Mrs. Weasley. ”
"Oh, that's nothing dear. ”
In addition to the two of them, Carl sees Ron again, and at the same time, he also sees the Weasleys' little sister, Ginny.
These are just a glimpse, though.
After saying goodbye to the Weasleys, Carl got into Nick's car, which drove the family of three to his home at 28 Hadlow Road.
