Chapter 226: A Change in Action
Early the next morning, Leon found Rashid after breakfast.
"Rashid, my good fellow, did you sleep soundly last night?" Leon greeted warmly.
"It's very fragrant." Rashid was a little puzzled, "I wonder if the FΓΌhrer came to me so early, did he have something to ask me to serve?" β
Leon waved his hand when he heard this, and said with a smile: "No, no, Mr. Rashid, I am here to say goodbye to you this time." β
"Farewell?" Rashid's surprise was taken aback by Leon's words, and he hurriedly asked nervously, "Why did you leave suddenly?" Am I being inconsiderate? β
"No, Mr. Rashid, you have a good hospitality." Leon smiled, "I left because the agreement with your country is almost final, and I have to hurry to the next stop, after all, I can't leave Germany for long." β
"Oh, don't you really stay a little longer?" Rashid did not believe Lyon's words, he felt more and more that Lyon chose to leave because he was dissatisfied with himself and Iraq, which made him more and more sincerely afraid, desperately trying to keep Lyon to save his image in Lyon's heart, "There are still many scenery in Iraq that you haven't appreciated yet, so you should stay for a while." β
After listening to Rashid's "plea", Leon thought about it "embarrassed" for a while, then nodded and agreed: "Well, since Mr. Rashid is so enthusiastic, then I will stay for two more days and visit the famous places in your country." β
Rashid was relieved to hear Leon agree, and said happily: "Then I'll go down and make arrangements." β
With that, Rashid quickly left Leon's side and went to arrange the rest of the trip.
Not only Rashid, but also one of his lieutenants, who was relieved to hear that Leon had promised to stay for two more days, also secretly breathed a sigh of relief and left the place with Rashid quickly.
However, the adjutant's subtle movement did not escape Leon's eyes, and after seeing Adjutant Rashid's movements, he smiled strangely, and then nodded slightly to the SS officer beside him.
"What?! Leon is leaving?! In the Iraqi Prime Minister's Office, Nuri looked at the intelligence minister in front of him in surprise and shouted, "Why did he leave suddenly?" Are you aware of our actions? β
"Mr. Prime Minister, this is not the reason why Lyon is leaving, I don't think he has noticed it yet." The Minister of Intelligence wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and said.
"How can you be so sure?" Nuri listened to the minister's words and asked suspiciously.
"Because he gave Rashid the reason that he could not leave Germany for too long, and that he had to rush to the next stop as soon as he had signed the cooperation treaty." The minister replied, "It makes sense, and I am the only one who knows the contents of this raid except for you and Mr. Rubayi, and even the undercover agent lurking next to Rashid does not know the exact contents, he is only responsible for reporting to me on the latest situation in Lyons from one direction." So we can rule out the possibility that Lyon knew about our actions. β
"Not necessarily, dear Mr. Minister." Nuri listened to the minister's analysis and sneered, "It is naturally impossible for me and Rubayi and that undercover agent to leak the news, but you are not necessarily, maybe you took money from the Germans, and you are playing double agent with me here?" β
The minister listened to Nuri's words and immediately panicked, he knew Nuri's temper and methods too well.
"Mr. Prime Minister, you have to believe me!" The minister shouted in fear, "I have been with you for almost ten years, if I wanted to betray you, I would have betrayed you in the past ten years, why wait until now?" β
"Well......" Nuri said slowly, standing up, looking down at the minister, "you have some truth to it, and I'm not one to wronged people at will, but you have to give me a reason, a reason to make sure that Leon didn't know about this operation!" β
The minister listened to Nuri's words and began to try to recall the information that the undercover agent had sent to him.
Suddenly, a message appeared in his head, and he shouted excitedly; "That's right! Mr. Prime Minister, Lyon originally planned to leave today, but under the persuasion of Rashid, he changed his plans and planned to spend two days in Iraq before leaving! If Leon knew about our actions, how could he risk his life to stay? Definitely the fastest way to leave Iraq! β
Nuri listened to the minister's words, thought carefully for a while, and then nodded and said: "That's true, with Leon's cautious character, if he knew about the surprise operation, he would definitely take the plane back to the safety of Berlin immediately." You didn't betray me, and that's good! β
As he spoke, Nuri stepped forward and patted the minister's shoulder vigorously to comfort and encourage.
"Whew! It's my honor to be loyal to you! The minister let out a sigh of relief, tugged at his clothes, which had already been soaked in cold sweat, and said, "But will Leon's sudden change of itinerary affect our actions?" β
"The impact is inevitable! The worst of them is that the British are not ready yet, so we have to find a way to keep him for a few more days, otherwise this plan will not be implemented! Nuri pondered for a moment and replied, "But there are also benefits. β
"Benefits?" The minister asked suspiciously, "What benefit?" β
"The benefits are many, such as making the Germans more suspicious that the attack was directed by Rashid." Nuri smiled sinisterly, "After all, he is trying to drag Leon in every possible way, if he doesn't drag Leon, Leon can avoid this attack and go to his next stop." β
"Mr. Prime Minister, awesome! This kind of crisis emergency can be found in your favor! The minister smiled and patted Nuri's ass, which made Nuri's mood much better.
"Hahaha!" Nuri hugged the trembling minister and laughed for a while, and then ordered Rubayi, who had been standing silent, "Rubayi, you go to the air base as fast as possible, tell them the current situation, let them hurry up and prepare, I will try to delay more time for them!" β
"Understood, sir!" Rubayi bowed, then left the Prime Minister's Office and drove in a car to the British Air Base.
After seeing Rubayi leave, Nuri smiled, straightened his suit, and left the Prime Minister's House with a few cronies, driving towards Lyon's residence.
More than half an hour later, Nuri arrived at Rashid's lair.
The guards of the "Golden Phalanx" at the door saw the familiar voice walking out of the car, and their eyes widened, and their faces were full of disbelief.
After all, they had never heard of a leader in this world who dared to break into the lair of the local camp without a single guard.
"Stop, stop!" A soldier reacted first, raised his gun and pointed it at Nuri and shouted, "The barracks are heavy, and idlers are not allowed to approach!" β
Facing the rifle pointed at him, he tried not to be afraid, but smiled and said: "I have no hostility, please inform the honorable Mr. Leon AndrΓ©s and tell him that Nuri Said has come to visit." β
"Also, let me correct you, I am the Prime Minister of Iraq, the supreme leader of Iraq, and I am not an idler."
