Chapter 80: "The Battlefield"
February 1, 1926, was a special day for Lyon β his bachelorette party.
Yes, tomorrow, February 2, is the day he gets married to Sophia.
The wedding will take place in St. Peter's Basilica in the Papal Territory and will be presided over by the current Pope, Pius XI.
The impact of this wedding is huge, there will be key leaders of 15 countries and representatives of 68 countries in attendance, so the safety of the venue will be a very big issue.
However, none of this needs to be considered by Leon, and his task now is to bring down the large group of people in front of him.
Or not to be put down by a large number of people in front of you.
"Chairman!" Hans Luther raised his glass, "I have to toast you, toast you so that Germany will not be quiet!" β
Leon smiled and raised his glass, then drank it down.
"Chairman!" Porsche also raised his glass to him, "I also toast you, I thank you for trusting me so much that you handed over the Porsche to me." β
Leon still smiled, refilled his glass, and looked up in toast.
"Chairman!" Then came Gustav, "To the revival of the German artillery industry!" β
After another drink, Leon's face began to turn red.
"Oh, Gustav, you robbed me of my cockpeach." Lehar "complained" and said, "But the absence of a toast can't stop me from respecting you, Chairman." β
Another glass, and Leon's face turned even redder.
"Hey, General." Raeder raised his glass, "To the great German Navy, to the great you!" β
Leon's vision began to blur a little, but he quickly came back to his sensesβawakened by the crowd of people around him.
"General!" Messerschmitt raised his glass and said, "For our aircraft industry!" β
"Oh, Messerschmidt." Leon's speech was a little slurred, "How's BF108?" Has the engine problem been solved? β
"Unfortunately, not yet." Messerschmidt shook his head, "But we shouldn't be talking about that, are we?" Today is a happy day, we just need to drink! β
"Yes, drink!" Leon raised his glass and drank it again.
"Honestly, General, I shouldn't have come to pour you wine." Wearing a brand new Air Force colonel uniform, Weaver said, "But I'm going to toast you and thank you for transferring me to the Air Force and getting me to know so many good guys." β
"Hey, hey." Leon blushed and smirked, "Drink, let's drink." β
"General, you're already drunk." Ludwig, who had been following Lyon, said with a frown.
"Lu, Ludwig?" Leon said vaguely, "You can drink it too." β
"No, no, general, you can't ......," Ludwig said halfway through his sentence when Leon, who was carrying a bottle of wine, took two sips.
"To the great Germany, long live Germany!" I don't know who shouted in the field.
Everyone was stunned for a moment when they heard this, and then everyone raised their glasses neatly and shouted: "To the great Germany!" Long live Germany! Long live Lyon! β
"Long live Germany!" Leon shouted as well, drank the wine from the bottle in his hand, and then poured it on the ground.
When everyone saw Leon fall, they all laughed good-naturedly.
"Oh God." Ludwig said helplessly, and then said apologetically to everyone, "The chairman is drunk, I'll carry him back to the room, and you continue to play." With that, he carried Leon on his back.
The protagonist is drunk, but the party continues.
The people who can attend the bachelorette party in Lyon are all representatives of all walks of life, and the least that can be done when so many elites gather together is the exchange of interests.
So as soon as Leon fell, the rhythm of the scene slowed down, and everyone shook their wine glasses, looking for someone who could bring them opportunities or benefits until late at night.
Early the next morning, in the room in Lyon.
"Damn it!" Leon woke up from his drunken slumber, "Ludwig! β
"I'm here, Chairman!" Ludwig pushed the door open and walked in.
"How did I get back last night?" Leon tapped his head, he couldn't remember what had happened last night.
"You were drunk last night, and I carried you back." Ludwig said respectfully.
"I'm not talking nonsense." Leon was a little nervous.
If I tell me where I came from, it's over, he thought.
"Nope." Ludwig thought for a moment, then said firmly, "You're just holding the bottle and falling to the ground and giggling." β
Leon breathed a sigh of relief when he heard this, even though he fell to the ground and smirked in shame.
TM I don't drink anymore, Leon made up his mind.
"Chairman, it's six o'clock in the morning, and the plane is already waiting for you at the airport." Ludwig looked at the time and said, "According to the plan, you have to arrive in the Papal States by one o'clock in the afternoon. β
Leon rubbed his face and said, "What about Sophia?" β
"Miss Sophia left yesterday."
"Okay, I'll wash up, and we'll go right away."
Half an hour later, Lyon arrived at the Berlin airbase in a custom-made suit.
At the base, a modified three-engine transport plane was waiting for Lyon, a newly developed transport plane developed by the German Junkers aircraft manufacturing company, which had just successfully flown and received an order from the Air Force a month earlier.
ITS JUNKERS GΒ·38 HAS A RANGE OF 3,460 KM, MAKING IT THE LONGEST-RANGE AIRCRAFT IN GERMANY.
After confirming that Leon was on board, the transport plane began to slowly taxi towards the runway, and then gradually accelerated into the sky.
The transports were accompanied by 16 HE51 fighters, who would escort the transporters until they reached the border with Lyon, where they were then taken over by the Italian Air Force.
Six hours later, Lyon's transport plane arrived safely at Rome airport under the escort of the Italian Air Force.
Rome's airport was completely cordoned off early in the morning, so there was nothing on the flat tarmac except for the transport plane in which Lyon was traveling
of the plane.
The pick-up procession was made up of the Royal Italian Army and the People's Will SS, who stood neatly on both sides of the newly rolled red carpet to greet today's protagonists.
Leon got off the plane and walked down the red carpet with his head held high, the SS soldiers on either side raised their right hands neatly, saluted a standard German salute, and shouted, "Hey! Andres! β
The Royal Italian Army, on the other hand, saluted their own military salute, so it made the scene look a little weird.
But Leon didn't care, he smiled and greeted everyone, and then got into a special wedding car (bulletproof and explosion-proof) at the end of the red carpet, and entered the city of Rome, driving to the Papal States in the high ground in the northwest corner of Rome.
Although the road through the city was blocked, it still could not avoid the fact that most of the people in the city came to the surrounding high-rise buildings to watch the luxurious wedding car fleet, and everyone was talking about what kind of PY deal Mussolini had with Lyon, which was worth his efforts for the wedding.
Mussolini didn't have the energy to think about why Lyon, because the closer he got to St. Peter's Basilica, the more nervous he became, as if it was not a church but a battlefield waiting for him ahead.
