Chapter 42: The Battle of Munich (I)
Manstein and his crew were slowly advancing with Armand on the outskirts of Munich towards the city.
There was still a faint smell of blood in the air, and they had just eliminated more than a dozen stormtroopers and rescued a Jewish family from them.
The father of the family told the Wehrmacht that they had just escaped from Munich, and on the way they saw a large number of soldiers wearing Wehrmacht uniforms and red swastika sleeves, but they did not see the stormtroopers in brown clothes, and they also fled to the outskirts of the city before they were unlucky enough to be caught.
The leading officer of the Wehrmacht immediately understood that the rebels should be divided into two parts, the Wehrmacht rebels with high combat effectiveness were responsible for the defense, and the low combat effectiveness but large number of stormtroopers were responsible for continuing to hunt down the Jews.
After a moment of thought, the officer ordered the troops to be divided into two parts: 1,000 and 500, the more part led by himself to take Hitler's lair, and the smaller part led by the adjutant, responsible for cleaning up the stormtroopers walking in the city and rescuing the persecuted Jews.
As soon as the order was given, the troops were quickly divided into groups, and Manstein's "privates", who were bent on avenging his subordinates, and Armand, who was determined to fight the fiercest battle, were assigned to the offensive group, which was exactly what they wanted.
Before you know it, the assault group is slowly approaching the center of the city, and two blocks beyond is the Munich City Hall, the Nazi nest.
"Hey, Major, we haven't encountered their regular troops all the way, why do I always feel that something is wrong." Armand frowned and said to Manstein on the side that he had barely put up any decent resistance along the way, except for a few stormtroopers, which made him a little uneasy.
"Well, there are few of them, they won't rush out like that. They should all be hiding in the shadows, waiting for us to rush into their defenses. You pay attention to the buildings next to us, and if I were to defend, I would definitely arrange for most of the soldiers to lean against the buildings. Manstein also sensed that something was wrong, and in urban street fighting, city buildings were the defender's favorite.
"Bang!" A sudden gunshot rang out, and one of the soldiers in the low-pitched queue fell.
"Enemy attack! Take cover! Take cover! One soldier shouted. In fact, almost all the soldiers quickly hid under the building without his reminder.
"Da Da Da!"
"Boom!" The sound of gunfire mixed with the explosion of grenades continued to sound, and the soldiers hiding under the buildings fell in pieces.
"Damn, where did the bullets come from?!"
"Upstairs! They're upstairs! ”
"Medic! Medics are needed here! The soldiers shouted loudly.
"Hold your ground! Hold your ground! Shoot upstairs! Cover the others and rush forward! The officer who led the team calmly gave the order, and the troops gradually recovered from the panic of being attacked at the beginning, and began to organize a counterattack in an orderly manner, some soldiers rushed into the nearest house under the cover of their teammates, and Manstein and others also rushed into the building next to them with a group of soldiers.
Upon entering, a soldier was knocked down by a shot from a rebel crouching at the top of the stairs, but he was not dead, moaning in pain on the ground.
Armand on the side reacted quickly, raised his hand and fired a shot that accurately hit the rebel in the chest, killing him with one shot!
Manstein looked at Armand in surprise, this reaction speed and marksmanship made Manstein completely believe what Armand said before.
Armand's eyes gradually cooled down, pulled the bolt to withdraw the cartridge case, and walked steadily towards the staircase with the Mauser rifle in his hand, leaving a soldier behind him to take care of the wounded soldier who fell to the ground, and the others quickly followed Armand's footsteps and walked towards the stairs.
Adamand made sure that the rebels on the stairs were dead, and went up the stairs gently without leaking a sound, as did the others.
Reaching the staircase on the second floor, Armand stopped, poked out a small mirror from his pocket, and after making sure that there was no one in the corridor on the second floor, he stepped onto the second floor and began to check the rooms one by one with the others. Three rooms were inspected in a row, but there was no one, and in the fourth room, a soldier relaxed, and instead of taking a small mirror to look at it in Armand's method, he looked directly inside.
"Bang!" A gunshot rang out, and the soldier's head seemed to be pushed backwards violently, and yellow-white brains sprayed a large wall behind him like graffiti.
Everyone shrank back in a hurry, but the rebels inside apparently thought there was more than one person at the door, and they opened fire with machine guns on the entire wall. The building was not of good quality, and the bullets pierced through the walls, rolled and flew over and hit several soldiers standing behind the walls, and the others hurriedly lay down.
However, the kinetic energy of these passing bullets has almost been attenuated, and most of them are also tumbling out, so except for one who was particularly unlucky and was hit by the vital point and died on the spot, the others were only injured.
Armand gritted his teeth and crawled to the door, then took a grenade from behind his waist, pulled the fuse and let go of the fuse that was pressed by the tiger's mouth, counted for four seconds, and threw it into the room.
The rebels inside did not seem panicked when they saw a grenade coming in, and one of the soldiers closest to the grenade jumped up and picked up the grenade and tried to throw it out, but the grenade exploded directly in his hand, and because he held the grenade, the range of the grenade was maximized.
After an explosion, Armand burst into the room with his gun raised and saw four or five rebels lying in a pool of blood.
After examining all the bodies one by one, Armand led the group to continue to inspect the room. However, he no longer used a mirror to check, but threw grenades directly into the room when he encountered them, and then went in to mend the knife on those who were not dead.
After a while, the rebels in the room did not inflict many casualties on them, but the scattered rebels hiding in various corners and blind spots to release their guns caused them a lot of trouble.
Manstein was shocked by Armand's efficiency in killing. If Manstein is a genius among commanders, then Armand is a genius among soldiers - he won't if you ask him to command a war, but he is absolutely good at killing all the soldiers on the other side if you ask him to kill you on the other side.
On the last floor of the building, the soldiers' grenades were running out, and after blowing up a few rooms, the grenades ran out, so Armand and the others had to take out small mirrors again, push open the doors one by one, determine the location of the rebels inside, and rush in to solve them, which caused the casualties to surge.
Finally in the last room, Armand exhaled and whispered, "Damn, it's finally over." Manstein, who was on the side, tightened his grip on his rifle and waited for Armand to confirm the people inside before rushing in to kill the bastards.
At this moment, the accident happened, and the rebels inside noticed the flash of the mirror in the doorway and fired directly at the door and the wall next to the door.
Armand quickly fell to the ground, but Manstein behind him was not so lucky, a machine gun bullet that passed through the wall hit Manstein in the head, Manstein felt like he had been hit on the head with a hammer, and then the world went dark.
