684 Pearl Harbor

Pearl Harbor, located at the lowest point of the plain between the Kolau Mountains and the Waianay Mountains on the south coast of Oahu, adjacent to the only deep-water port of Honolulu, is a U.S. Navy base and shipbuilding base, and one of the largest and best safe berthing ports in the North Pacific Islands.

However, this is only theoretical.

If the U.S. fleet is willing to pay some tolls, a temporary stop at Pearl Harbor may also be allowed.

Standing on the seashore, looking at the boundless sea, calm and gentle, the seagulls hovering on the surface of the sea, making bursts of calls, and the cool sea breeze blowing slowly, making people extremely comfortable. With beautiful beaches and sunsets, the island of Hawaii is like the pearls of the United States scattered across the Pacific Ocean. The beach is fronted by rolling waves and behind is a lush pine forest. Ryan and his comrades listened to the sound of the waves, leisurely smoked the cigarettes given to them by the sergeant major, and enjoyed their vacation.

In the midst of the World War, their laid-back was incredible, as if they weren't here to defend their territory, but to come on vacation to beautiful Hawaii. There was peace in the harbor, Ryan and the others had the weekends off as usual, and war seemed so far away.

Along with Ryan are two buddies who have a good relationship with him, one of whom is a stronger man named Damon, and the other is a man with deep blue eyes named Stephen. Ryan lay comfortably on the beach, Damon washed his eyes with his face to the sea, and Stephen whistled and teased the birds.

"I said, let's go to the east beach later, I heard someone in the team say that it is a snow-white white beach, I have never seen a white beach when I am so big," Damon said excitedly, turning his head and exyating after exhaling a few smoke rings.

As a new recruit who had just been transferred to Pearl Harbor this week, Damon was very curious about everything here.

Stephen, who had been reporting from Pearl Harbor a few days earlier, nodded imperceptibly when he heard this, and agreed with Damon's words.

Seeing that Ryan didn't react, Damon kicked Ryan who was pretending to be asleep: "Hey, hey, aren't you going?" โ€

Ryan, who was kicked, opened his eyes a little reluctantly and said, "No, I'm going back to stand guard tonight." โ€

"Holy!" Damon sneered disapprovingly: "Stand guard, what kind of post are you standing on?" We are not at war with any country, so why are you so rigid? โ€

"Let's go, I'll give you a promise that it's absolutely fine to go later, and besides, we'll be back soon, what are you afraid of? Right, Stephen? Damon winked at Stephen.

Seeing this, Stephen immediately responded with understanding: "Yes, yes, it's not a big problem, you see that before we came here, the war broke out for so long, didn't nothing happen?" โ€

"Hurry up, I'm bored all day long, I'm going crazy, are you going to go or not!" Damon yelled a little impatiently.

Ryan knew he had to go, and to be honest, he also felt that the mechanical army life every day was really boring, everything was so peaceful, maybe it was nothing.

Standing guard and paddling, this is no longer a big taboo at Pearl Harbor. As long as you run out and come back, and hand a cigarette to each of the two majors in charge of the inspection, there will be nothing.

That's right, standing guard and escaping the post is only worth two cigarettes here at Pearl Harbor!

This may sound a little incredible, but this is the unique calmness and unhurried attitude of American soldiers who stay out of the war.

As one of the most important naval and air bases of the United States in the Pacific, Pearl Harbor covers an area of 32 square kilometers and has an average water depth of about 14 meters, which can berth up to 500 ships, and can also provide repair, maintenance and other services for large naval ships such as aircraft carriers, nuclear submarines, and cruisers. For the American GIs here, a favorite place is a small island in Pearl Harbor.

On this small island called Ford Island, there is the Ford Island Naval Air Station. One of the largest grocery stores in Pearl Harbor is located at this naval air station. GIs can not only buy their favorite Coke at the grocery store, but also buy fresh oysters.

Pearl Harbor is already rich in oysters, and the grocery store here buys delicious and tender oysters from local ingredients. Due to the ease of pick-up and the large supply, oysters were sold cheaply and could be easily afforded by ordinary soldiers.

Ironically, Pearl Harbor, a strategic base for the United States to dominate the Pacific region, has become a place for garrison soldiers to enjoy the beautiful scenery and seafood delicacies.

In fact, the lax military discipline of the Pearl Harbor unit has been reported many times ago. But what is interesting is that when US President Roosevelt first heard about this, he has been taking inexplicable cover-ups against the Pearl Harbor garrison and suppressing this matter many times.

With the exception of the transfer of more than 100 officers who had previously belonged to the Pearl Harbor garrison and demanded the rectification of military discipline by Roosevelt in the name of promotion, the US military department basically did not interfere in the increasingly corrupt military discipline in the Pearl Harbor area.

However, Roosevelt ostensibly relaxed the military discipline of the Pearl Harbor garrison, but secretly stepped up the arms build-up war, and began to seriously implement the "moral embargo," terminated the export of goods to Japan, and froze some of Japan's assets in the United States, especially the strict prohibition of oil exports to Japan.

On the surface, it seems that the United States is trying to be neutral and refrain from exporting strategic materials to Japan, a country that is waging war. But if you think about it carefully, not long ago, the United States did a good job of trading arms to Britain, but when it was Japan's turn, even the trade in materials was banned. Comparing the two, it is inevitable to find that there are deliberate elements in it.

However, this did not mean that Roosevelt could openly declare hostility with Japan and participate in the war.

On the other hand, in the United States, Ford, the famous automobile tycoon, often led a large group of people to demonstrate in front of the White House, and this anti-war leader in the United States often organized the masses to hold protests at the White House and Congress to resolutely oppose the war.

It is even rumored that German Fรผhrer Reinhardt often lamented in private that the biggest German ally of the United States is their car king Ford.

In addition to business, in American politics, their Secretary of State, Hull, is an isolationist who spends his days promoting the benefits of neutrality and war avoidance.

Roosevelt was unwilling to quarrel with these isolationists in China, so he secretly hatched some secret plans. It's just that not many people know about this plan now.
