Based on the JT3D turbofan engine, the military version of the turbofan engine TF33 has been widely used in a variety of models for a long time, relying on stability and a total life of more than 10,000 hours. The improved JT3D, produced by Pratt & Whitney a few years ago, is said to have a total life of 12,000 hours and a first overhaul life of more than 3,000 hours. Of course, military and civilian standards are completely different, and the life of civilian engines is much higher than that of military engines, which is the difference between the environment and the way they are used.
In fact, in the history of another time and space, the S-8 (the real historical number of the S-7) used by the Y10 airliner has not been able to solve the problem of longevity, and the blades are the key to it. The S-9, the domestic model of the Spey engine, began in the early 70s and was not completed until the end of the 20th century. You can imagine how critical the quality of the blades is. To make a good blade, there are two conditions that affect it - good materials and good processing technology.
At present, at least Li Lu has basically possessed these two basic conditions in his hands, especially the processing technology, the arrival of five-axis linkage CNC machine tools, so that the Red Star Factory has never had any research and development capabilities to become a domestic factory capable of processing qualified blades!
As we all know, the key to the life of the engine lies in the blades, and the better the blades, the longer the life.
Yao Taihang obviously knows very, very well what these two capabilities of the Red Star Factory means, especially the processing technology, he can almost see that after the finished product of the S-7, the first overhaul life can easily exceed 2,000 flight hours.
Don't talk about driving, if you put a knife on his neck now, he won't leave Workshop Zero half a step. He directly and simply demanded that the research institute be built next to workshop zero, and the project team of the S-7 aviation development would be placed there. Fortunately, there is some huge space in workshop zero, and all his requirements have been met.

After winning the S-7, the Red Star Plant has an absolute signature product - a mass-produced aviation turbofan engine with good versatility that can be used in military and civil aircraft. Li Lu really has no urgent expectations for whether the Y10 can be put into production.
