Chapter 49 Zhuangzi De Chong Fu Vernacular Wen III
There was a man in Lu who had his toes cut off, named Shushan Wutoe. Bayi Middle School? Wen? (1) (8) ?. (8) 8 (1) 1 (1) He walked on his heels, and on this day he went to see Confucius.
Confucius said to him, "You are not careful in what you do, and because of this, you made a mistake and cut off your toes, which is why you have the consequences you have now, and you have become a disabled person." Although you came to me today, you have come to ask me for advice, right? But! The past is irrevocable? You can't go back to the way you used to be. ”
Shushan Wutoe said: "I violated the criminal law in the past because I didn't understand the world, and I didn't protect my body, so I lost my toe, and I can't regret it." Now I have come to you because I still have something more precious in my heart than my feet, and I have a heart that is good, beautiful, and truth-seeking. So! I want to do my best to preserve it.
There is nothing in the sky that is not covered, everything is under the sky. There is nothing on the earth that is not carried, and all things are on the earth. I treat my husband as heaven and earth, how do I know that my husband is such a person, and he actually excludes me, which is so disappointing to me. ”
Confucius said, "I'm sorry! My hole is really shallow, please forgive me! Why didn't the gentleman come in? Please tell me what you know, Confucius is willing to listen to the teachings of Mr. ”
Shushan ignored it and limped away.
Confucius said to his students, "You have to work hard! Shushan Toe is a man whose toes have been cut off, and he also studies hard to make amends for the wrongs he has done in the past. Let alone! What about you morally and bodily! ”
Shushan came to Lao Tzu's side without toes and said to Lao Tzu: "Who said that Confucius was a person with noble moral cultivation, I don't think it maybe?" Why does he come to you for advice and to be your student? I don't think the purpose of his study is necessarily to increase his knowledge, but to pray that his strange and false reputation can be spread to the outside world, and he will gain a false name. Doesn't he know that the truly virtuous and virtuous people regard fame and all other things as shackles that bind them? Since he has done so, it means that he has not yet reached the standard of a person with high moral cultivation, and he has not yet recognized this. ”
Lao Tzu said, "Why don't you tell him?" Didn't he let you in? Why don't you go in? You tell him! Let him see life and death as the same, and tell him the truth that this thing dies and the other thing lives? Treat the can and the can and the wrong as the same, and let him look at the problem from a different perspective? So as to free him from his shackles, so that it is okay? ”
Shushan Wutoe said: "This is the punishment he gave himself, it is called 'heavenly punishment', where can others help him to be freed?" ”
"The punishment you gave yourself?"
Shushan Wutoe explained: "He thinks that is right, and when you say that he is wrong, he not only doesn't listen, but also argues with you!" Since he is willing to do this, let him be like this! It's obviously wrong, and he will bring punishment to himself, but he is willing to continue. This is the 'Heavenly Punishment'! Where can others help him to be free? ”
Lao Tzu sighed: "Alas! Opinionated people are like this, they know that they are wrong, they just don't admit it, and they find all kinds of reasons to justify it. It's really not easy to get them to understand. Right! 'Heavenly Punishment'! This is the punishment of heaven! Heavenly punishment, safe and clear! ”
"Heavenly punishment, safe and clear!"
