The trigger was also the battle between the two sides over the Mino Province Xida Prefecture, and Oda Nobutaka raised troops from Gifu in the spring and attacked the territory of Naotsu, the lord of Ogaki Castle, who had taken refuge in Hideyoshi, and Inaba Ischitetsu, the lord of Shimizu Castle.

When Hideyoshi Hashiba learned of this, he immediately went out from Omi Nagahama Castle to rescue Ogaki Castle, and successfully repelled Oda Nobutaka, who retreated to Gifu Castle to defend it.

Hashiba Hideyoshi took the opportunity to invade Ise Province in three ways, and the right route was led by Hashiba Hideyoshi himself, penetrated deep into Northern Ise, captured Hino Castle, and threatened Oda Nobutaka's Kameyama Castle and other Central Ise territories; Nakaru was led by Kinoshita Yasuke, who was the brother-in-law of Hideyoshi Hashiba and besieged Kuwana Castle in Takigawa Kazuki; Led by Hideyoshi's younger brother Hidecho Hashiba, the left route quickly captured Nagashima Castle, and the front of the army turned around and joined forces with the army in the middle lane.

When Shibata Katsuie learned of this, he immediately ordered Sakuma Morimasa to be the vanguard, and he went out from Echizen Kitanosho Castle and entered Kita-Omi five days later, but Hideyoshi had already built a fortress in the area of Tenjin Mountain and Kinomoto and constructed a defensive line on the north side of Nagahama Castle.

Sakuma Morimasa then marched to the area around Mt. Gyoichi, while Katsuya himself left Kitanoso six days later, arrived at Yanase ten days later, and settled down at Mt. Uchi-Nakao, a little north of Mt. Gyoichi.

Yanase is located in Kita-Omi Ika County, which is not only the pass between Nagahama Castle and Echizen Fuchu Castle, but also the key point connecting Kita-Omi and Echizen Tsuruga County. Yanase is about 9 kilometers away from Kinomoto to the southeast, and there are steep mountains ranging from 350 to 550 meters above sea level, such as Mt. Gyoshi and Mt. Sayu. Among them, the southern mountains such as Dayan Mountain and Mt. Iya surround a lake that is one kilometer wide from east to west and two kilometers long from north to south: Yuwu Lake.

To the east of Lake Yuwu and to the west of Mt. Higashino, there is a basin about the same size as Lake Yuwu, which is located between Yanase and Kinomoto, and is a place where local people cultivate and live.

The two sides of Yuwu Lake and the basin, from north to south, are as follows: east: Zuoyou Mountain, Tianshang Mountain, west: Xingshi Mountain, Beiyue; To the north of Yanase is a higher mountain range, and the Hokukoku Street and Tsuruga Street leading to Echizen Province are all routed through the valley creeks in between.

From Kinomoto to the south to Nagahama Castle is a vast plain stretched, with Mt. Ibuki to the east and Lake Biwa to the southwest. Shiotsu (Ika-gun) at the northern end of Lake Biwa is located on the west side of Lake Yogu, about two kilometers away from a mountain, and from there, a hidden mountain path leads to Tsuruga in Echizen Province to the north, thus connecting the Hokkunku streets.

Shibata Katsuie built the main camp on Mt. Uchi-Nakao, about 1 kilometer north-northwest of Yanase and about 460 meters above sea level, and was located in the key area, controlling the southbound area where the Hokkoku Kaido and Tsuruga Kaido converge.

Sakuma Morimasa, who was the main vanguard, set up camp on Mt. Yoichi at an altitude of about 550 meters, which is the highest peak on the west side of the southern street, about 4 kilometers from Nakao Mountain in Katsuya Honjin in the north, about 2 kilometers from Mt. Tenjin, which Hideyoshi had previously built, and about 6 kilometers to the south. Not only will you be able to hold the key area between Shiotsu and Yanase in Jifukuji (Ika-gun), but if you attack, you can quickly reach Mt. Tenjin, Mt. Doki, Mt. Shidake, and Mt. Oiwayama to the south.

Shibata Katsuie immediately took Mt. Gyoshi as the center of the frontline position, and placed the Maeda Toshiie, Baixiang Ieka, Kanamori Nagaku, Fupo Mitsuji, and Sasa Naimasa about 800 meters east-southeast of Besshoyama, about 1 kilometer east of Oak Valley Mountain, about 500 meters south of Oak Valley Mountain, and about 300 meters north of Nakaya Mountain.

Shibata Katsuie's plan at this time was to attract the Hideyoshi army that had invaded Ise to the north, while his own side relied on natural hazards to hold on. One can solve the dilemma of Takigawa Yiyi, the second is to oppress Hideyoshi and form a protracted war, and the third is to contact Nobutaka of Gifu to form an encirclement and make Hideyoshi exhausted.

Sure enough, Hideyoshi Hashiba heard of the Shibata Katsuie's large-scale attack, and hurriedly led his army out of Ise, and returned to Nagahama Castle after a two-day rapid march. And the next day, he went to the side of Shidake, arranged the defense, and stayed in Sawa Mountain City.

Soon, Hideyoshi Hashiba discovered Shibata Katsuie's intentions, and ordered the temple of his ability to send the believers near Yuwu and Dansheng to track down the enemy. If you can take the head of the enemy, or reward your knowledge, or praise you in person, you can also be exempted from all kinds of miscellaneous labor as the temple wishes. At the same time, he also instigated the Honganji sects of the northern country to carry out disturbance activities from the rear of the Katsu family, and originally in Echizen, Kaga, Noto and other countries was the place where the Honganji forces were immersed.

Although the lord of Honganji Temple had already surrendered, and many of Honganji's disciples had also become ronin, Hideyoshi's condition was that after the war, Kaga Province would be considered to be handed over to Honganji Temple to establish a Buddhist country. The believers of Honganji Temple, who were already attached to Zuizuma Temple and Anyang Temple in Vietnam, immediately returned to Japan to participate in a holy war as if they had been hit with a shot in the arm.

Oda Nobubo also led the army out of battle, firmly containing Oda Nobutaka, and Sakuma Nobumori sent troops to Ise to replace Hashiba Hideyoshi and continue to suppress Takigawa Kazuki.

Even Tokugawa Ieyasu and Mori Terumoto were not forgotten by Hideyoshi, and they frequently contacted each other, hoping to contain the Hosokawa family and join the "Anti-Hosokawa Alliance" together after the war. After receiving the letter, Tokugawa Ieyasu sent an envoy Naruse Kuniji to Kita-Omi for a face-to-face interview, and later the two sides wrote frequently, and it was not known what agreement was reached, but Mori Terumoto agreed.

After arranging everything, Hashiba Hideyoshi began to take the initiative to attack, sending a small force into the Yanase area to provoke Katsuya, trying to lure Shibata's army to go deeper, and use the castle to contain the enemy's forward forces.

Shibata Katsuie was not a fool, he contracted the front, held out, and arranged Sakuma Morimasa and others to hold on to the positions of Mt. Gyoshi and Mt. Nakatani and Mt. Bessho in front of Mt. Tenjin.

Hideyoshi immediately changed his plan, and the front line of Zuo Youshan arranged for the strong general Hori Hidemasa, this mountain is located on the east side of the street, four kilometers west-northwest of the street, opposite Sakuma Morimasa's Ryuichi Mountain, and at the same time poses a threat to the Katsuya positions such as Mt. Nakatani and Ringuyama near Ryichi Mountain. The previously built Mt. Tenjin lost its value due to the encirclement and deployment of Sakuma and others, so Hideyoshi ordered it to be removed and built a defensive line on the west side of the road, about a kilometer south of Mt. Tenjin, and about 500 meters north of Mount Kamimei, so that Mt. Zuo You, Mt. Doki, and Mt. Shinmei echoed from afar.

In addition to building his own position to deal with Shibata Katsuie's defense, Hideyoshi himself also led some of his men to maneuver around Ise, Gifu and other places, and continued to sweep away the remnants of Oda Nobutaka and Takigawa Kazuki.
