Chapter 7: The Art of Divination

Coming out of the Wizards' Guild, Vane walked down the road in a daze, he had never felt like this, as if he had been drained of all his strength. Why me? He wanted to shout but couldn't. Is that all there is? He is not reconciled!

"You know, that woman in the soothsayer's house is really pretty powerful. I had lost my favorite weapon, this sword made of black iron, and I went to the soothsayer's house with the idea of trying it out. And guess what, she actually helped me find the lost black iron sword through divination!"

"Divination? It's kind of interesting, I'm going to check it out another day. Two passers-by passed by Vane.

Vane turned his head to see that the two had disappeared into the crowd. The Fortune Teller's House?Vane thought for a moment, and he quickened his pace and turned to walk in the other direction.

Looking at the small door of the soothsayer's house, Vane felt hope, more and more, faster and faster. He pushed open the door and strode inside.

It was as if it was another world in the cabin. The various miniature magic lamps emit a soft light that reflects the mysterious patterns on the walls. On the back cabinet were a crystal ball, some oddly shaped sculptures and silverware, and several heavy books stacked together. But it all seemed to be used to foil the woman sitting at the round table.

"Is there anything I can do to help you?" the woman looked up at Vane, her voice pleasant, with a hint of etherealism. She was covered with a half-thin purple silk veil, and her starry eyes were flowing. Through the tulle, the beautiful face is faintly visible, and the smile at the corner of the mouth is seductive but not frivolous. Vane was momentarily distracted.

"I'm here to retrieve something that's been lost. Wayne said. "But I don't have any money right now, can you help me?"

The woman smiled silently and motioned for him to sit down at the table. Black velvet dangled from the edge of the table, and she picked up a stack of tarot cards, her slender fingers running from card to card, and soon she re-folded the separate cards and set them aside. Then the three cards were counted and buckled on the flannel to form a triangle.

The cards in front of me were turned over one by one. Wayne's lips were dry, and his palms were slightly sweaty, as if waiting for a silent trial.

"The card near you represents the past, the positive world, and despite the difficulties, you are obsessed and focused on the lost thing, which is as important to you as life. The one on the top left is ...... Reverse power, it can make you fall into a slump and misery, become cowardly, lose self-confidence and even want to give up. ”

Vane nodded unconsciously, and the woman continued, "The last one is the upside down hanged man in the right position. After a pause, she said, "You will face major trials or difficult choices in the future, and either way, your fate with that lost object depends on the sacrifices you make. ”

"Master, what should I do, where can I go to retrieve it?" Vane wondered.

"Follow your heart. She replied.

After Vane left the room, a figure stepped out of the back room. "Will this work?"

"Actually, I did a divination for myself before he came, and I wondered if I could help him this time, but the results of the tarot cards relieved me. ”

"What is it?" asked the Shadow.

"Wheel of Fortune. ”

The wheel of fortune turns slowly, without stopping, and the cycle repeats. People never know what will happen in the next moment, and the road ahead may be full of thorns, but as long as he keeps going, maybe the next moment will become a smooth road.

The sun shone faintly on the street, the air was still slightly cool, but a fire ignited in Vane's heart. "Follow your heart. The soothsayer's words echoed in his head. The hand holding the staff also seemed to be full of power, and Vane walked faster and faster.

"Hey, Vane, here!" Felder shouted at Vane from the tavern door.

"How about showing a hand to that old man from the Wizards' Guild?" Felder said with a wink at Vain.

"I didn't make it. Vane said lightly.

"What! how is it possible, you are an honor student at the Obohar Academy of Magic, is there something wrong?" Felder looked at Vane with wide eyes on his face in disbelief.

"No, it's true that I'm not up to the level of a junior magician, and I haven't even succeeded in casting magic. Vane looked breezy.

"Well, in that case, let's prepare for the rest of the journey. I've got a good way to make money, so let's go and let me show you. Felder said mysteriously.

It is a two-storey building with a façade made of smooth-cut gray and white stone. The dark brown wood-textured gate was open, and the stone wall above was a large relief, a quaint sword and bow interlaced.

"That's what you call a good way to make money?" Vane said speechlessly. "I'm afraid the mercenary guild's bounty mission is not something we can do now. ”

"Vane, you've changed, when did you become so unconfident, I think there must be a mission for us, maybe we can still show our skills here. Felder didn't seem to be too worried.

Vane's heart moved, yes, isn't this an attempt to break the current predicament? Follow his heart and make changes, Vane made up his mind.

The Mercenary Guild has branches in almost every city and neutral area on the continent of Lafrey, and even has outposts in some mysterious and dangerous areas, such as the continent of Akanster. It's a fairly inclusive neutral organization, and anyone can apply to join or start a new mercenary group. Of course, the guild will not be responsible for any accidents during the execution of the mission, and if the task is not completed within the specified time limit, the mercenary group will also pay the task liquidated damages to the client.

The mercenary hall on the first floor is a large space, and when you look up, you can see a huge oil painting on the dome, depicting the battle of the world, and the magic crystal lamp in the room illuminates the hall. The mercenaries in the hall came and went in groups. A dwarven warrior with a sturdy shoulder, a human knight with a spear in his armour, the occasional elf with pointed ears, and of course a mage with a variety of staffs...... They join the same mercenary group because of the same goal, the same philosophy, or just because of someone.

The halls are crowded on both sides, and on the walls are a row of bulletin boards with a large number of bounty quests, most of which are less difficult and dangerous beginner quests, although the bounties are not much, but they are the most popular quests among mercenaries. In the center of the hall stood a small bulletin board, where there were far fewer onlookers. Vane and Felder were both first-time here, so they didn't know any of this, and they talked and walked straight to the bulletin board in the middle.

"Vane?!" came a coquettish shout from ahead.
