Chapter 822: Thirty Grades

Anari is known as the first in the eyes of heaven among the disciples of the Buddha. Because his physical eye was broken, the Buddha asked him to cultivate the Heavenly Eye, and as a result, he cultivated the Heavenly Eye.

Anarith's story is instructive, he once had to sew a garment and thread, but because he couldn't see with his eyes, he asked if there was a senior brother who could help.

At that time, everyone else was meditating, and no one came to help him, but when the Buddha heard this, he sat down and helped Analu.

When Anari knew that it was a Buddha, he asked why the Buddha had helped him.

The Buddha replied that even if you become a Buddha, you still have to accumulate merit and do what you should do.

For the other disciples present, the Buddha reprimanded them for refusing to do any good deeds in order to meditate, and this is a vain practice. Some of us, after studying Buddhism, have a Buddha on their faces, and they talk Buddha's words, as if they have a way, but in fact they have no Buddhism, and it is useless.

In addition, it should be said that even if Anarius has the ability to see the sky, the naked eye is still soil, which is two different things. In the Diamond Sutra, the Buddha said that there are five eyes: the naked eye, the heavenly eye, the wisdom eye, the Dharma eye, and the Buddha's eye, each of which is different.

Here Anarith said that he was not qualified to visit the Vimal monk for his illness, because on one occasion he was reprimanded by the Vimal monk during his journey.

According to the Buddhist system, it is a polite thing in India to turn right around the Buddha three times after worshipping the Buddha. Be sure to turn right, it is a forward turn; A left turn is a reversal. The meaning of the sutra is different from that of the Buddha, and the rule of the meditation hall is to take a walk after sitting in meditation, which is called sutra walking, which is also to the right; Of course, it doesn't have to be in circles.

Some people go in retreat, and when they get to the point where they want to turn back, they turn to the right and go back. When people who really work hard get up and travel, they don't even want to open their eyes, and they maintain the concentration of meditation, so they hang ropes on both sides and tie bamboo tubes, and touch the bamboo tubes when they travel, so that they will not deviate.

There are big steps, small steps, fast steps, and slow steps.

In the meditation hall, the brisk walking is called running incense, which is a brisk and stride walk, not a sports run.

Monks should pay attention to dignity in walking, living, sitting and lying, that is, they must have a posture of life and be in the middle of being at any time.

Regarding Brahma Brahma, I have already given a general introduction to the Three Realms of Celestial Beings when I talked about them earlier, and I will add one more point. The mind of practice is very important, and Anaryu said that there was a Brahma king named Yan Jing at that time, and he and 10,000 Brahmas were purifying the light.

Actually, Brahma people themselves will shine, so they are not intended to shine. The king of Brahma bowed to Anaryu and then asked him how far he could see the heavenly vision.

Anari said that he saw the Buddha's 3,000 worlds as clearly as he saw a grain of Ummaha fruit in the palm of his hand. The fruit of Anmora is also turned into the fruit of Anmora, which is about the size of an olive.

Shi Wei Maha came to say to me: Only! Anaru! What the eye of heaven sees, is it for the sake of the phase? Nothing? If it is a phase, it will be connected with the outer road and so on. If there is no appearance, it is inaction, and it should not be seen. What Vimala is talking about here is exactly what everyone wants to participate in, and most people who study Buddhism have polluted and buried their correct views.

Do you check yourself, do you have the psychological component of studying Buddhism? I'm afraid five out of ten pairs are like that, right? With such motivation, it is almost impossible to succeed in attaining Bodhi.

The Lengyan Sutra says; If the motive of "the cause is not true, the result will be distorted" is not accurate, and the direction is not right, so it will not achieve results.

When Tang Xuanzong was still a son, he once became a monk, and he was the same as Huang Bai Zen Master, and once he made a mistake, the senior brother did not care about his identity as the son of the world, and beat him.

After Xuanzong ascended the throne, he did not hold any grudge against this senior brother. Zen Master Huang Bai once visited Tiantai Mountain in Zhejiang, and the wise master who founded the Tiantai sect at that time has passed away for a long time.

Huang Bai Zen Master in Tiantai Mountain got acquainted with a monk, once the two of them encountered heavy rain in the mountain, the stream swelled and could not cross, the monk took off the hat, stepped across the stream, Huang Bai Zen Master saw, he reprimanded the monk for his own Han, brushed his sleeves away.

When the monk heard this, he sighed that Zen Master Huang Bai was really a Mahayana instrument. If you see this monk's kung fu, I'm afraid you will be greatly admired. It is difficult for ordinary people who study Buddhism to have the realm of Huang Bai Zen Master.

I often hear people say that someone has the ability to see the causes of past lives, and whether these strange people look at it with their eyes open or closed, their faces usually turn red, which is a sign of rising blood pressure.

Vimal asked Analu, "Is there any aspect that you see with the Heavenly Eye?" Is there a contrivance? Is it in the realm of emptiness? Or do you see it in the realm of being? Note! Although Anarius is blind to the naked eye, his visual vision is not broken, and he can still "see". Even a blind man can see, and what he sees is a dark face. Light is a phase, and so is darkness.

Vimala went on to say, "If you have an analogy, a realm and a light, and you see it in it, what you think is the eye of heaven is actually the eye of the outer path, and the eye of heaven and the five paths of the outer path are all appearances.

Some of you who have a mantra sometimes hear the mantra in your ears even though you don't recite it in your mouth while meditating, and that's when your ears are acting.

How did this sound come from? It is not external, it is not internal, it is not intermediate; It is not self-generated, it is not born of others, it is born of the convergence of karma.

Some of them are used to hearing in past lives, or they are used to reciting a certain mantra in past lives, and they are buried in the alayya, and when the mind is very pure, the seeds in the alayas burst out.

Others are caused by the vibration of the auditory nerve in the ear, coupled with a non-quantitative delusion in one's own mind, thinking that they have heard a mantra or other sound.

Vimala said that if your eyes are not intentional and do not act, then you are doing nothing, and you have attained nirvana.

Since nirvana is empty after all, it should not be seen.

It is equivalent to what the Diamond Sutra says: "If you see things that are not like each other, you will see them as they are." It means that the Dao body of reality sees nothing, that it does not see light, that it does not have eyes, that it does not even see emptiness.

When you meditate and close your eyes, you are still looking, you are looking at your eyelids, because you are blocked, you can't see out, and the more you look at the black hole, the more you look at it, the more drowsy you become. The eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and body consciousness have not been turned off, and the consciousness is delusional again, sitting there and playing with the realm.

Anarith was reprimanded by the Vimal monks and could not answer, and at this time, those Brahma heavenly people praised the Vimal monks for their wisdom, bowed to the Vimal monks, and asked if there are any people in the world who have true heavenly eyes?

Vimala replied that a Buddha is a person who has attained the true heavenly eye, is always in the realm of Nyorai Dading, is the samadhi held by the wisdom and so on, and does not need to be moved to see anything, but is one with all the Buddha's land, not dual, and knows himself without seeing, this is the true heavenly eye.

So the Heavenly Beings such as King Yanjing Brahma made Mahayana bodhichitta and bowed to the Vimala monks, and then disappeared. Therefore, Anarith could not visit the sick either.

In this sutra, the problems of each disciple taught by Vimala should be the strengths of each disciple, but they are untenable in front of Vimala, these are also the most important issues in our practice, and we must be familiar with the Vimala Sutra when learning Buddhism and Zen.
