Chapter 18: The Taoist View of Life and Death (4)

The "Qi Life and Death" and the theory of life and death in Zhuangzi's "Theory of Things" are actually preaching.

What is Tao? We can understand it through this paragraph.

The birth and death, and the death and life are the transformation of the sermon, from this thing to that thing, from that thing to another thing. In fact! It's preaching.

In fact! It's talking about the origin of the universe.

In fact! It's talking about the origin of humanity!

In fact! It is talking about the origin of all things in the world.

Learn Taoist philosophy, if you don't understand what Tao is, then! You can't understand Taoism. All your interpretations are in the clouds.

The world is no bigger than the end of Qiuhao, and the mountains are small; Mo Shou died in the dead, and Peng Zu died in death. Heaven and earth are born with me, and all things are one with me.

This passage is also preaching.

This paragraph means:

There is nothing in the world that is bigger than the end of the autumn, and Tarzan is the smallest; Why? Because! The end of the autumn is the end of the autumn and the beginning of something new, according to the change theory of the Tao, perhaps? That new thing is bigger than Tarzan? So! Tarzan is smaller than the end of the Qiuhao.

No one in the world lives longer than a child who dies young, and the legendary longest-lived Peng Zu was short-lived. Why? Because! The death of a child is the end of his life, but it is also the beginning of his transformation into something new. According to the theory of change of the Tao, maybe? That new thing has a longer lifespan than Peng Zu? Peng Zu's lifespan was just a child who died in front of him. So! Peng Zu is not the longest-lived.

According to the theory of the Tao, we all come from the Tao. Therefore, it is said: Heaven and earth coexist with me, and all things are one with me. We are all children of the Word, and we are all part of the Word, and we are all in the Word, regardless of one another!

Judging from the above paragraph, Zhuangzi's theory of all things and life and death is telling us that we must look at life from the perspective and height of people, and look at life, life and death from the perspective and height of the Tao.

If we simply look at life, life and death from the perspective and height of people, we will be stubborn and obsessed with the level and height of people. We will be greedy for life and afraid of death, and I will be obsessed with life and afraid of death.

If we simply look at life from the perspective and height of human beings, we will not only care about ourselves, but also our own families, relatives and future generations, and fool others.

If we care only about ourselves, our families, our loved ones, our families, our families, and future generations, we must affect the survival of others. If it affects the survival of others, others will inevitably rise up and resist, and others will inevitably cause chaos in society if they stand up and resist.

If we jump out of the circle of human beings and look at life from the perspective of the unity of heaven and earth or the Tao, will we see through life?

Don't talk to Taoists about Confucianism or Moism, and don't say that this doctrine and that doctrine, and that the laws of this country and the laws of that country are more suitable for human beings. Taoists think! You have not jumped out of the circle of people, you have not stood at a higher height and realm to look at life and human beings, you are all treating headaches and foot pains, and you are quacks.

Before the philosophy of life and the philosophy of mankind have not solved the problem of the origin of human beings, what people live for, and what they live for, all ideas, isms, religions, etc. are just the way for human beings to live a normal and healthy life, and human beings' thinking and attempts in this regard are just a method of survival.

To put it more bluntly, it's just about finding a way to survive and survive better! It's just an attempt!

Only when we jump out of the circle of people and reflect on life and look at life from more angles may we have an epiphany.

If we think that life is only to live, just to complete the process of this life, will we still be obsessed with pursuing those things and obsessions that are not interesting to live?

After talking about life, Zhuangzi began to talk about death.

In the Treatise on All Things, Zhuangzi tells people not to be afraid of death, believing that death is a kind of destination. Are people who are afraid of death like lost children who don't know their way home? I don't know if I'm going home?

In "The Theory of All Things", there is such a passage that writes this:

To be evil, to know that life is not to confuse evil? To the evil is to know the evil death, not the weak and the evil who does not know the return!

This passage translates to:

How do I know that people live greedily, and their lives will be free of confusion and distress? How do I know that people are afraid of death, is their life like a lost child who doesn't know where home is, doesn't know where he has returned home?

Alive! Shall we not have affliction? Death! Can we run away from it?

Regarding the fear of death, Zhuangzi also has this wonderful persuasion in "The Theory of Things":

Lizhiji, the son of the Ai Feng people. The beginning of the Jin Kingdom was also obtained, and he wept and wept; And as for the king's house, he went to bed with the king, and ate and swept, and regretted his weeping.

To the evil husband, the deceased do not regret the beginning!

This passage translates to:

Liji is the daughter of the person who defended the territory of Aidi, because of her beauty, the Jin Kingdom captured her when he conquered Lirong and did not kill her. She was crying so much that she was soaking through her clothes, thinking she was finished; When she entered the palace of King Jin, was pampered as a lady and slept in the same bed with the Marquis of Jin, and ate delicious dishes, she regretted crying so sadly at the beginning, and almost missed the good days.

So! How do we know if those who died will regret being so greedy in the first place? How do we know if life after death is worse than when we live? Like Liggie? thought it was over, but he enjoyed the glory and luxury.

For Taoists, death is not terrible, as a human being is dead, but as a Tao, our corpses after death do not know what will change into? Maybe? Change to Tsubaki? Maybe? What about the transformation into a butterfly? Maybe the changes will last forever?

About Zhuang Zhou's allusion to the butterfly.

In the last paragraph of Zhuangzi's "Theory of Things", there is the story of Zhuang Zhou's dream butterfly. For Zhuang Zhou Mengdie, it has long been explained in a fog. And there are not many articles that are really correct.

The former Zhuang Zhoumeng is Hu Die, and Hu Die is also lifelike, self-proclaimed and suitable! I don't know how to do it. Oh Ran Jue, then Yu Ran Zhou also. I don't know that Zhou's dream is Hu Die, and Hu Die's dream is Zhou? Zhou and Hu Die, there must be a difference. This is called materialization.

The correct interpretation should be:

Once Zhuang Zhou dreamed that he was a butterfly, dancing, a butterfly at ease, he felt particularly happy and comfortable, and felt that this was himself! I didn't know that I was Zhuang Zhou, and I thought I was a butterfly.

Suddenly, he remembered and was immediately frightened: Who am I Zhuang Zhou? Or butterflies? I don't know if Zhuang Zhou became a butterfly in his dream, or did the butterfly become Zhuang Zhou in his dream?

There must be a difference between Zhuang Zhou and a butterfly, Zhuang Zhou is Zhuang Zhou, and a butterfly is a butterfly. Both humans and butterflies come from the Tao and have evolved over countless years. One became a human being, became Zhuang Zhou; One evolved into an insect and a butterfly.

This is called materialization, and everyone has evolved from the Tao and evolved into different species. Man is a species, butterflies are a species, trees are a species, and beasts are a species...... We are all one species.

Through this allusion, can we get an epiphany from it?

If we all regard ourselves as a species in heaven and earth, will our attitude towards life change because of this?
