Chapter 29: The Bay of Bengal
Malabar Coast, South India.
The river originates in the Western Ghats and flows into the Kerala Plain, where it runs parallel to the coastline in many places, with the nearest places separated by only a few dozen metres. When the monsoon season comes, the sea crosses the coastline and flows into the river, and when the wind and rain rise, the river flows back to the sea, and the cycle repeats itself.
History has created a coincidence in Kerala, where the city of Calicut was the place where Vacos da Gama and Zheng He died together, and the Franks and Chinese navigators found a meeting point in South India.
The Indian Ocean, blue skies, coconut palms, sandy beaches and exotic women in light veils make for an unbeatable view that will make newcomers want to leave.
The two middle powers of Golconda on the east coast of central India and Bijapur on the west coast held back the powerful Mughals to the north, and most of the Coromantes coast, which was heavily exploited by the Dutch and British, was located in the Golconda Sultanate.
The southernmost point of the subcontinent and Sri Lanka belong to the Sinhalese people who practice Theravada Buddhism, and the European colonizers called this area the Malabar Coast, Sinhala is a completely different world from the rest of India that believes in Hinduism and Patana.
The Malabar Coast originally belonged to the Portuguese, and Cochin to the north was the early Indian stronghold of Portugal, where Almeida and Albuquerque were both resided.
Now Malabar was about to change the dynasty, the Dutch captured Colombo, Trincomalee and Jaffna, completely possessed Ceylon, and expelled Portugal north, and the next target of the Dutch was Cochin.
Located between the city of Quilon and Thiruvananthapuram, the Federation leased a small fishing village from the local Kerala monarch to build the Hexagonal Double-Decker Star Fort, which was the only stronghold of the Federation in South India.
The better seaports on the Malabar coast were controlled by the Portuguese and Dutch, and the Indian company opened two canals outside Fort Quilon to connect the river parallel to the coast with the Indian Ocean, and the sandbar shielded the waves of the Indian Ocean, and the inland port became a seaport.
The Commonwealth's chief trade representative to India, Philby, was the owner of the castle and a senior member of the Senate, who was as powerful as a king at Fort Quilon.
Pan Hao sat on the balcony with his Persian dancing girl in his arms, drinking and admiring the blue scenery.
After returning from Africa, Pan Hao temporarily lived in Fort Quilon, he did not sign a long-term contract with the Indian company, and often took on some casual jobs, such as fighting for the local prince, robbing an enemy princess or something, and lived a happy and comfortable life.
The leisurely afternoon was interrupted by the castle guards.
"Mr. Pan, Senator, please come over."
Pan Hao put down the woman, "Wait a minute, I'll be here right away." โ
Philby's mansion is located on the top floor of the castle, not far away.
"You came from the Chinese army?"
"Yes, Mr. Senator."
"I have a very important task, your resume is very useful, pack it up and come with me."
"What is the mission?"
"The order comes from the Fรผhrer himself, and he will say it after he gets on board."
Pan Hao left in a hurry, full of suspicion.
Two hours later, Philby, Pan Hao, and a group of assembled soldiers boarded the armed merchant ship Africa, rounded Cape Comorin, and sailed north along the coast of India in a southwesterly wind.
On the east coast of Madras, the Africa exchanged gun salutes with the British, and a 3-masted British armed merchant ship joined the Africa.
The flag of the East India Company consisted of a St. George cross and a horizontal bar, and it is highly likely that the flag of the later lighthouse nation was copied from the flag of the British East India Company.
In the Bay of Bengal, the Africa temporarily separated from the British, the East India Company ships sailed to Chittagong, the Kingdom of Arakan, and the Africa stopped at the mouth of the Ganges.
The sea control on the eastern side of the Bay of Bengal belonged to the Arakanese kingdom, and the Arakanese had the best sailors and shipbuilders in Asia.
Arakan is located on the division of Buddhist civilization and Tianfang religion, and was once conquered by Burma, and the king fled to Bengal to restore the country with *** soldiers, and almost, the country was also greened.
Later kings of Arakan managed to break free from Bengali control, and their armies included many Europeans in their armies, and the Arakanese even defeated the invincible Burmese king, Mang Shwe Ti.
Arakan leased the port of Dianga, 20 miles south of Chittagong, to the Portuguese, but not to the Kingdom of Portugal, which was not administered by Goa, which was governed by a group of European pirates and Eurasian mestizos, and the state of Salian founded by Debrito in Lower Burma was also the model of Dianga.
The Mughal fleet was beaten into dogs by the Dianga European pirates, and the banks of the Ganges below Dhaka were not safe, and the Diangas landed at every turn, hunted thousands of inhabitants and sold them into slavery, and in 1625, the pirates captured Dhaka, the capital of Bengal, and made a fortune.
The king of Arakan also had a conflict with Dianga, and the pirates lured Goa to send 14 warships to blockade the coast, and Arakan was not to be outdone, and invited the Dutch fleet from Batavia to fight.
After the battle, the days passed, and the Arakans needed pirates to stop the Mughals, and the pirates needed land.
Now things have changed.
Aurangzeb defeated other contenders and ascended to the Mughal throne, and his army defeated the Prince of Bengal, Shasucha. This army was led by Mir. Commander Jumla, 100 war elephants, tens of thousands of cavalry, hundreds of cannons, tens of thousands of infantry, the scale is very scary.
The Africa cruises at the mouth of the Ganges River and joins up with 3 Indian dhows.
Shasucha fled from Dhaka with 500 soldiers loyal to him.
More than 1 million pesos of silver, 80,000 pounds worth of gold, and countless other treasures were brought aboard the Africa.
Pan Hao's eyes were shining with gold, he had never seen so much money, and the staff of Nanyang Bank on the side gave the bonds and certificates of deposit to Sha Sucha, which were different financial investment products.
Philby held Shasucha's hand tightly, "Your Highness, there is no safer way to invest in Asia than Nanyang Bank, please rest assured that your money is deposited with Nanyang Bank." โ
Shasucha's face was very bad, and the money was most of his property.
"I care more about the land you promised."
"In Borneo you will have a county territory, it is impossible for Indian warships to pass through Malacca, and even if they do, our fleet can easily defeat them, and you will no longer have to worry about being pursued by Aurangzeb's army."
What awaited Shasucha was a miserable life in exile.
Arakan is also courting Shasucha, but the Federation is clearly the better collaborator. With the sanctity of private property rights in the Federation, Shasucha does not have to worry about being murdered for money, and the small investment made by Shasucha's businessmen in Borneo ten years ago is now his lifesaver.
On Shasucha's ship were soldiers and family members, as well as dozens of beautiful veiled concubines.
The Prince's harem is full of people of all colors, which makes the soldiers on the Africa breathtaking. The soldiers had long heard that the Mughal Empire had the most extravagant royal family in the world, and that the exiled princes were still like that, and the Delhi master, Aurangzeb, was even more unthinkable.
Philby was very excited to make a big deal, he rubbed his hands and said, "Dear Your Highness, I heard that Your Highness has 3 sons and more beautiful princesses. โ
Shasucha's face tightened, "What do you mean?" โ
"Oh, I'm thinking about you, if Your Highness wants to get better treatment in the Federation, marrying our nobles is a good way."
"Impossible!" After paying, you have to pay people, and Shasucha is difficult to accept.
"I'm just suggesting that Your Highness can think about it slowly in Borneo."
Shasucha returned to the boat dejectedly, and Philby's business was done.
Pan Hao and three people stayed in Chittagong and boarded the British ship Little Swan.
The Africa formed a fleet with three Indian ships, led by the Africa, and returned to the mainland.
