Chapter 1060: Where Did the Vimo Monk Come From?
At that time, Sariputta asked Vimalaya, "Why didn't you come to be born here?" "At this time, Sariputta asked Vimala, from which world did you disappear and reincarnate into this world?" No" (pronounced as "end") means to perish, to die.
Vimala said, "Is there any law you have obtained?" "Vimala asked Sariputta, "In the Dharma teachings you have learned, are there any births and deaths?" "Not born" is born and destroyed.
Sariputta said, "There is nothing to be born of." ”
Sariputta replied that there is no such thing as birth or death in the true Dharma. You should note that the true Dharma is not in the empty things of meditation and meditation. When you experience the current state of mind, the mind is called birth and destruction, and there is life and non-existence. One thought after another is very fast, and the thought is gone? If you think about it again, there is still something, so there is no "no".
Is there really no "no"? It was never born. Every thought can't stay, so don't take what is true or not.
The Diamond Sutra says, "The mind cannot be attained in the past, the mind cannot be attained in the future, and the mind cannot be attained in the present". To be able to see clearly in this realm is the fundamental principle of studying Buddhism.
Regardless of your age, is it harmful that you have used this heart for so long? No. It's still used now. The past is gone, and it can't be caught; The future is yet to come; Now, as soon as I feel it, it's a thing of the past. Therefore, it is necessary to understand that you cannot grasp anything at all, and your state of mind will naturally calm down, and this is the right way to learn Buddhism.
Those who observe in this way are in the right view, and those who do not look in this way are in evil view. Therefore, if you want to ask for a mantra or find some strange method, it is all delusional, because what you are asking for is the method of birth and destruction. The Dharma is the law of non-birth and destruction, what kind of mantra is there for words and Taoism? What else is there?
"If all the laws are not born, how can the clouds ask, why did you not come to give birth to this." The "dharma" in Buddhism represents all things, things, and reason, and is synonymous with comprehensiveness. Vimala said, "If the Dharma has not been born and destroyed, why do you ask me from which world I was born into this world?"
"What do you mean? For example, if the illusionist imagines a man and a woman, would he rather not give birth? "Then Vimal said, "I ask you, for example, does a man or a woman conjured up by a magician have life and death?" When we watch a big play, is the scene in the background fake? No, it's a real thing, it's true. Are you saying it's true? It's just painted on the set screen. That's why the Buddha said that everything we do is like yesterday's dream. We've been doing it for decades, and it's like yesterday's dream. I can't hold on to yesterday's dreams, like dreams.
"Sariputta said: Nothing is born." Sariputta replied that people who are conjured by magic do not live and die.
"Don't you hear that the Buddha said that the Dharma is like an illusion?" Vimala asked, "Haven't you heard the Buddha say that all dharmas are like illusions, illusions like magic?"
He replied, "Yes." ”
Sariputta replied, "Yes, that's what the Buddha said. ”
"If all the Dharma is like an illusion, why didn't you come to be born here?" Vimala followed after him and said, "Since you know that all the Dharma is like a dream, then why do you still ask me from which world I was born into this world?"
"Sariputta, there is no false law, a corrupt appearance. The living are false, the phase of continuity. Although the Bodhisattva does not have it, it is not a good book. Although he is born, he does not grow evil. This passage is important. In terms of physics, if you burn a piece of paper to ashes, will it be gone? It's just that the form of the paper is gone, and the mass and energy can be interchanged, and burning the paper produces heat, light, smoke, and ashes. Seng Zhao wrote "The Theory of the Non-Migration of Things", these substances in the world have not been moved, time has not flowed, and there are no trillions of years in the past and the future, but they are not available now.
So Vimala said, "Sariputta, you think that there is no "nothing" and think that something or something has perished, that is a deception, it is just a phenomenon of physical corruption. On the contrary, if you think that there is "birth" and think that something or something has been born, it is also deceitful and is just a phenomenon of physical continuity. The one who can think about whether there is life or not is the Tao, that is, the Buddha, does not belong to birth and death. Therefore, Vimala said that even though the bodhisattva's physical body is corrupted, his Dharmakaya is still doing good here. Even though a bodhisattva is born in the flesh, he will never do any small evil.
