One day, he heard that Huineng had obtained the true inheritance of the five ancestors, and he also rushed to meet Huineng day and night. When the gods came to the Great Yuling Ridge and saw Hui Ming sitting on a large rock, as if reciting the Dharma Sutra, the gods would come forward and salute and ask him about Huineng's whereabouts.
Hui Ming said: "I came here before you, within a radius of several miles, I have asked and searched, but there is no trace of him, you better go back and look for him." ”
Shenhui is also a smart man, and he secretly thinks that Hui Ming was once a great general, and his temperament is as fierce as fire. Only because he was excluded by the imperial court, he was disheartened and became a monk, and now Huineng has obtained the true inheritance of the five ancestors, he is the first to rush to find the law than anyone else, and now he is persuaded by Huineng's legal principles. But when God rolls down from the volcano, his whole body will be burned black. Later, when the six ancestors opened the Dongshan method in Baolin Temple to teach the scriptures, the gods rushed to meet the six ancestors and became the disciples of the six ancestors. Until the death of the six ancestors, the struggle between the Southern Sect and the Northern Sect became increasingly fierce. Shenxiu established himself as the "Six Ancestors" in the north, and was known as the "Master of the Two Beijings and the Master of the Three Emperors" and absolute power.
On the fifteenth day of the first month of the twenty-second year of Kaiyuan (734), the gods will hold an uncovered meeting in Dayuan Temple, Huatai (Huaxian County), Henan Province, and argue that the six ancestors are the real six ancestors of Zen Buddhism, and Shenxiu is just a side door.
