Chapter 940: Why Study Buddhism (7)

Those who practice the bodhisattva path lose their temper and curse people every day, but they are compassionate in their hearts and have no resentment towards all sentient beings. It is equivalent to parents and teachers, beating and scolding for the sake of the child's good, but he is crying in his heart.

Those who practice the bodhisattva path are even more stupid and affectionate than sentient beings, but in fact, the stupidity they show is just convenience.

Those who practice the bodhisattva path take the benevolent people first, but when they go retrograde, they are more pediatric than the iron rooster, and they are very stingy.

Back then, the old monk strictly enforced not to eat at lunch, and after eating lunch, he would personally inspect the kitchen and lock it, and he would put away a pot when he saw it. It is very hard to practice with him, and he can't bear it without ability.

If you can settle down, the digestion of the stomach is sluggish, and the body calorie consumption is very small. Otherwise, the stomach hung empty, and it became vegetable, and its face was blue.

No wonder in the meditation hall, I don't know how many monks come to hang the blankets when I hear that I want to play seven, because there can be seven meals a day, and the meditation hall has become a gluttonous hall.

Tell me the story of the meditation hall, one night in the meditation hall monks were meditating, one of them was a physical arhat, and his neighbor (the monk sitting next to him) was grumbling with hunger, and the arhat touched this neighbor and said, "Hey! Do you want to eat it? There are pots and pots in the kitchen. The monk replied. As soon as Luo Han grabbed it, he turned into a pot with his empty hand and gave it to his neighbor. The next day, the great monk came to the hall and said, "The monk who broke the vows last night came out!" The monk who stole the pot confessed, and the great monk said, "Go down to the guest hall." The monk went to the guest hall, knelt down and took the incense board, and then drove out of the mountain gate. The great monk did not break the vows for the sake of one less pot, but for this bhikshu to show his supernatural powers. Do you say that the great monk has any supernatural powers? Sitting in the abbot's room, how did he know that someone in the meditation hall had stolen a pot cake? Nowadays, many people play without real supernatural powers, and if their hands are a little hot, they say that they can help people heal, this is not real supernatural powers, don't play around.

To study Buddhism is to learn to be a very ordinary person, to follow the rules and do things honestly, and how to benefit and help others in that environment is practice. Don't be weird, close your eyes all day long, as if you are very godly, what are you doing? To truly practice the bodhisattva path, although to show greed, but to give up everything inside and outside, and sacrifice oneself at the cost of one's life, is the true bodhisattva path.

Those who practice the bodhisattva path sometimes appear to have violated the vows everywhere and destroyed the precepts, but in fact they are more obedient than the precepts, and they dare not even the slightest negligence.

It looks lazy on the outside, but in fact, it is always in the center, and there are many such examples among the Zen patriarchs of the past dynasties. He cultivates merit in concentration, how to cultivate? This is a bodhisattva's tantric practice, not something that we can understand. He may incarnate and become all kinds of beings to make merits.

On the outside, it looks like a hectic person, not like a practitioner, but the real Dharma is settled in the hectic part of your day. It's okay to eat all day long, and to cross your legs here is actually in distraction, and instead of merit, it's a crime.

It looks stupid on the outside, but there is all the knowledge in the world, and wisdom is the first. If you move around the society a lot, you will meet some people who seem to be stupid people and are silent, but when they speak very wisely, it is what Confucius said: "If the lady does not speak, the word must be in the middle", this lady is not talking about other people's wives, and the husband is a virtual word. So, how do you know if he's a bodhisattva or not?

It looks like it's sycophancy, flattery, or cheating, but it's all convenient. Some people don't mention a single word of Buddha in their speech, but they talk about the Dharma. I often hope that you students can follow this kind of bodhisattva path, especially in today's era, when you talk about religion, you will have a big head. You don't have to preach the Dharma, you don't have to preach the sutras. You can turn Buddhist scriptures into TV dramas, movies, jokes, and as long as you put the truth into them, you can promote the Dharma. To put it mildly, this is "Qu Xue Ashi", which has changed the real Dharma to pat the sycophants of the masses in the world. But a person who practices the bodhisattva path is not afraid of these accusations, and he prefers to flatter sentient beings and express the essence of the Dharma in a skillful and convenient way. But you have to practice and be skillful and convenient, so that you don't follow the old path, otherwise you don't talk lightly about the Buddhist revolution.
